You realise that people are much more likely to play against someone online than locally don't you? Then you see why offline multiplayer isn't really that big of a deal any more, it used to be in the past.

If this game were to have negative reviews it would be due to its gameplay because it's the most important aspect of all games. Ultimate Blast's gameplay was non-existent so it's why pretty much everyone is displeased with it.
I don't think son considering online needs the internet and then Xbox charges for online, I think local co-op is still pretty big here.

Offline multiplayer isn't possible so I'm guessing linking two consoles isn't neither, so that leaves online play only which is much more used nowadays than offline multiplayer. On PS3 online gaming is still free, whereas on PS4 they'll charge (unless it's Free to Play games).

Solution: Just play a different DBZ game or 1 player at a time.

By the way, what do you mean "is still pretty big here" where exactly?

Just saw the facebook post that confirmed the Kikuchi soundtrack in the game. I can't say I'm not absolutely excited. But, as someone that was around to see Namco Bandai say that Ultimate Tenkaichi would have the original japanese soundtrack, I'm gonna try to hold my excitement until I ear it coming from my console. (EDIT: And by console, I mean TV)

But if it is true...it would also be a great time to get a Sparking HD Collection in Europe to finally have a localized version of the way it was meant to be played.

As far as the demo, it did look good. The gameplay looked a lot like ZBR, aside from the "pauses" to see bigger hits up close. I would've liked to see some grappling moves and more team stuff.

Namco Bandai said half truth there, because Hiroshi Takaki's soundtrack was also in the Japanese version so that could've been "original japanese soundtrack" although everyone assumed it was Shunsuke Kikuchi, including me.

Sega promised to deliver an authentic Sonic 4 experience and instead they gave something else, some love it, some hate it. They're a lot of fun if Sonic fanboys got over the facts "Sawneek dozent have griin eyez" or "the fisicz are browkun".

Still, the Dragon Ball has the worst fanbase out of the two. The drones are always constantly asking for Tenkaichi 3 HD / Tenkaichi 4 / Raging Blast 3 and complain when we finally get a new game. :|

The ki blasts look like shit. The reactions to the blasts look like shit. This game looks like older games with new, lousier gameplay. I hope that there's local multiplayer because I have 3 friends that wanted to play. It'd just be annoying if 4 people had to buy the same shitty game. This will definitely be a rent before buying. I don't see any of treevax's ideas in this game..

Local multiplayer is very important. Did you ever once consider the people with poor to no internet connection? What about soldiers overseas? By not having local multiplayer, you exclude fans from playing otherwise decent game. And don't give me that bull shit "it has to play online." No it doesn't. The X Box 1 "had to play online" yet look what happened.

I'm looking forward to the story mode since it sounds like a big what if story similar to Super Sonic Warriors. I wonder what this new animation that they are talking about? I wonder if its BOG since they mention "At the moment we are having very serious discussions with rights holders"?

I wouldn't have a problem with a 2 Player Split-Screen mode. It was fine in the Tenkaichi/RB games. I'm sure there's a technical reason why they can't have it (Not just, "So you can see more of our graphics")...but if it's at all possible, they would definitely benefit/not lose sales by putting it in.

For me its not even really about people with a little to no internet connection, its a fighting a game its a staple to the genre.

Besides Golden Eye and other large multiplayer games of that era had the four way split screen, I do see what the problem is that they can't do it this game, especially with the stages being as big as they are.

You know I don't think the conversation on how local multiplayer would work in Zenkai Battle Royale was ever brought lol. I think people just overlooked because the game seemed so cool but now we have this.

And for the record I'm an open type of person when it comes to these games. I wouldn't mind a Tenkaichi 4/Raging Blast 3 if it was done right, same with Burst Limit 2 but again if it was done right and even a completely new gameplay experience ala Battle of Z (or ay future games for that matter) if they are done right but as it stands right now there are more cons with this game than pros.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

I just can't understand or even fathom how DBZ games continue to suck. They need to add sum major improvements for me to buy this because I'm gonna stand for no local multiplayer :problem:

If you have someone locally to play with/against then that's understandable otherwise it's just pointless moaning from a person who never gets to use that mode.

Playing 1v1 doesn't really step the game up because it's what we've had for the previous years on and on, this year they're finally allowing 8 players in one battle arena and people still bitch. Dragon Ball has the worst fanbase. :|

You're not seeing the bigger picture. You shouldn't think of just yourself. Again, what about the people who have poor internet connection? They just don't get to play this game? We aren't bitching just to bitch, this is a legitimate criticism, unlike you, we actually care about what they are doing to this series. 4 vs 4 doesn't mean jack shit when you can't actually do it! Local multiplayer is a staple to the fighting genre and I'm not just gonna let them get rid of it. No, I'm boycotting this fucking game until we get local multiplayer back.

Good eye, that was definitely Ultimate Gohan.

I really hope this game has the option to play 1 v 1. The stages seem really big, and I'd love to just go wild everywhere in a 1v1 battle on one.

"To play with other players, each must have its own console. The reason for this is that we want everyone to enjoy the best possible graphics in full screen. Through online mode you can form a team of up to four players or participate in Battle Warrior mode, in which up to eight players can battle. "
So let me get this straight, they excluded offline mode to give the players the best graphics possible when this game has shitty graphics to begin with? Seems legit.

Yes, for what the game proposes, with up to eight players against a giant, with each console having to calculate them wholly (every animation, special attack, ultimate, moving on a vast area at full speed - at times all together potentially), when it could only have two fighters at a time in a rather small area before. I say, be happy we have more than PS2 Tenkaichi graphics with all that this game has to calculate compared to its predecessors, we indeed have pretty graphics given the circumstances, far from PS2.

No, what we NEED is local multiplayer.

I'm sure they've done the necessary research about which kinds of modes are being played, and online multiplayer is -- very likely so -- above and beyond other multiplayer options being chosen.

This isn't the same Xbox One initial "you need to be connected to even play" nonsense, so please, let's not dive into that territory with the same ol' exaggerated "marines on a boat" examples that affect what I'd imagine is absolutely none of you.

I could care less if that involves none of us. We shouldn't think of just ourselves. I'm sure a 4 way split screen wouldn't hinder the gameplay enough to retcon a staple of the fighting genre.

If you "can care less", it means you have the capacity to care even less than you currently do, which in turns means you do care, even just a little bit.

Adding more and more characters to the screen with the type of focus on gameplay they're shooting for very likely means that a traditionally split-screen, local multiplayer wouldn't work. It's great you're thinking of other people stranded on boats in the middle of nowhere, but you're doing so from an irrational, emotional state instead of thinking about the technological limitations AND the intention of the developer who's making the game for a particular type of experience.

If it's not the kind of game you want to play, that's fine, but I think it's absolutely patently ridiculous to disparage it for what it's trying to be rather than living up to your own irrational expectations of a game you've never actually experienced or played before.
