Normally I've been more in favor of a character creator mode than opposed to one, but I feel like the biggest reason for not wanting one seems to be from people who don't want to go online and play against a bunch of unimaginative goku clones. If this game was like a normal fighter and not a battle royal type deal, I think it would be harmless; let those fans have their fun. But in a game like this, where co-op is online only and multiplayer has a huge emphasis on the gameplay, I feel like the issue would be magnified 10x. If they don't want to fight against one of them, there is no way in hell people are going to want to fight 8 at a time. In this case, you actually would lose a sense of what Dragonball is/who the characters are. Plus, I don't think the customization would get any more advanced than what it was like in UT.

I guess these were taken at the convention today maybe? Very different from the setup of the last presentation that Treevax recorded.

Since Coola is in the game is nice to see since he is one of my favorite movie villains. I'm pretty sure Broli will be in it since he has been in more common in DBZ games since 2003 or 2004.

There are different fighting types? This has taken a step in the right direction.

If Cooler is confirmed, it's safe to assume we will see various other movie villains as well!
Hope there's more new info because everyone kind of saw this coming already.

I'd be displeased if Namco Bandai didn't release a demo of BoZ for 360/PS3 this year, the game deserves a demo unlike UT and would get players starting to know how the game works.

If Coola's in the game, then that's a perfect opportunity for Sauzer, Neizu, and Doore to make a team. :)

They can add those robot guards if they have Metal Coola later on in the game.

I will accept this, especially if he runs around singing about chopping people up.

I just thought of something. One of the four Battle Types... Support Type. Could this possibly mean traditionally non-fighting characters like Dende could be in the game? Hanging on the sidelines, waiting for characters to retreat to you to be healed could be awesome.

Yes, something like that would really bring out a sense of strategy. You'd have to think a little about just what kind of team you want to form, making the game much more interesting. It all really depends on how it's executed though.

Couldn't you do like the wrestling and other games and just have a check box [Allow created content : on/off] so that becomes a non-issue?

'kay, my very minor worries about them excluding the Cell or Buu Arcs have been put to rest after the "we're not ready to discuss it" the other day and the reveal of characters from said arcs, as well as a movie, today. Now I'm just curious about how many characters from each portion we're going to get, and if they will be able to grab the rights to Birus and maybe Whis after that "we're discussing if we should include other elements from Battle of Gods in the game" statement.

Honestly, I now hope they go nuts in the same vein as their Gundam games, with the 300+ mobile suits, and fully flesh out Z and the Z films.

You mean including 300-400 characters? Spike's Tenkaichi 3 was terribly flawed for focusing quantity over quality and if ARTDINK went down that road it'd be even worse than Spike.

Namco Bandai isn't that stupid.

The third Sparking game has its flaws and is overrated, but it's still one of the best games the franchise has. Anyway, that was Spike, this isn't. Artdink has gone down that road for other franchises before, and I don't see the problem with doing it again as long as they avoid some of the obvious mistakes Spike made (we don't need 4 Vegetas, 3 Gokus or 2 Trunks, etc.). It won't take that many characters to flesh out Z and the Movies either. Not counting transformations, covering Z, GT and all the movies, specials and Heroes' new content doesn't even get us over 200, and that's including henchmen. Treat all applicable transformations more like alternate costumes with minor stat changes instead of changing their entire fighting style and animations like Spike did and it's hardly an issue.

You adamantly seem to not grasp that for some people more characters can mean quality as well. There is not one definitive objective "quality".

If they have managed to find a way for every character to be unique in how they play and for the game to be fun and still have a crap load of characters then, please, throw in as much as you can. If not, I'll survive not playing as Appule, Super Saiyan 3 Broli or Bulma's mom's poolboy from that one time Dr. Briefs was out of town.

With that said, if it doesn't have Super Saiyan Bardock and Ultimate Gohan with the kaioshin costume I will rage lol

Why do people want Gohan in the Kaioshin outfit?

Personally, I've always found it cool. Plus, it was in Super DBZ (with both his swords, no less! :D ) so there's no reason to not use at least the costume. Of course, it was also made worse by several years of "Oh, come on, Spike! You're gonna give Goku all 10 costumes and Gohan gets a color swap?!"

"I like it" is also a pretty big factor in the "I want this character in the game" department for everyone, so there's that.
