If other fighting games with small rosters can do it, then so will Battle of Z too. 70-80 characters plus transformations making it add 100-ish characters is more than a damn good amount to choose from.

What's worrying is if they were to play all alike, this bothers me because it happened in Tenkaichi/RB games but guessing this isn't a deep fighting, so they'll probably be more or less around the same. Kinda disappointing.

Sangofe@ I agree but to be focused on DBGT's storyline it'd need to be worked on its own game rather than being a supplement to this or that. I'm still waiting for the proper DBGT game, Transformation is a joke!

Vince@ I hope I wasn't rude but it's odd how people haven't gotten tired of the same DBZ story mode after so games with the same one. I'm happy for this change, even if it isn't that big of a what-if.

Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta Vs. Goku? 3 against 1? That's excuse my language, fucking awesome! But how exactly will it work? Has Namco Bandai / ARTDINK explained?

Pfft, care to name some?

The only games that I can think of that can allow more than 4 characters on screen at a time are the wrestling games (Royal Rumbles and such) and those rosters usually stretch between 40-60 characters if I'm not mistaken.

oh and the Clash of Ninja Naruto games. and those games tend to be average or not very good.

The only other fighting games that have team battle are Capcom's Versus games, KOF, Tekken Tag, DoA, MK Trilogy and 9, Bloody Roar and Spike's DBZ games (Minus Tenkaichi Tag team of course), yet those are all Tag-in/Tag-out type not all brawl.

Sorry to get off topic, but when did Bloody Roar have tag team?

In Primal Fury/Extreme and I think 4. Now that I think about it you couldn't tag in and out your first character had to be defeated in order to be able to play as the next one and so on. So I guess it kinda doesn't count but then again it does... Depends on how you feel I guess.

Bad graphics, bad animations (Goku flying like a robot), they've copied the combat system on Spike's (so it's not unique).
Liberties in the storymode, that's not new. Like previous games that took liberties with the story, it's not because of artistic choice, but because they couldn't do otherwise with their limited roster and lack of content (missing outfits, arena, etc.)

The only new feature is 8 characters fighting at the same time. It's their main selling argument. But with limited roster, team battles are boring.
And they admited in the interview with Treevax that the roster wouldn't be as high as previous games, which turns the 8 characters fighting at the same time pointless.
It makes no sense to include team battles while not including the teams that appeared and fought in cooperation in the series. Bojack's team for example, that's a good example of a faction with a good team work, and I'm sure they won't be in the game. While we'll certainly have Dabura and Majin Buu fighting together, while they were in fact opponents in the series. That's the kind of liberties in the storymode they are talking of.

Some of your reasoning is baseless. This whole limited costume thing, how do you know this? Yes there have been promo pics of Goku and the others fighting Vegeta in the Rocky mountains without a symbol on his dogi. Two things though: one, it was never said those were pulled from the storymode. For all we know developers just used a standard versus match to take shots for the promo; Two, there is an image(or maybe it's in the gameplay demonstration) where he does in fact have the symbol on his shirt. All they have shown has been from the Saiyan saga and parts of the Freeza saga. When it comes to Bojack and Majin Buu, you're just assuming there is nothing to base these reactions on.There is no way of knowing what they have in store with costume and characters...yet. Also while it's similar they haven't "copied" Spikes fighting style. Yes it's over the shoulder and yes it has big maps, but there is no way of knowing how different it is until it's in your hands. Second there is one major difference that suggest that no, it's not a clone: different player types.

As for graphics and animation, we're looking at two different games apparently. I'm not about to tell you that Battle of Z has the best graphics out of all these DBZ games. However, I can tell you it has something that no game since Raging Blast has had, and that's character model and background synergy. The world and the characters work together rather than clashing. That alone makes the graphics more appealing than say Raging Blast 2. That game uses the same "muddy" style with "realistic" looking backgrounds. As for animation? Characters running when they are on the ground; Characters reacting to where they actually got hit; these alone already put it miles ahead of what Spike has done. As for the flying effect, I'm sorry I just don't see it.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

So, now ALL we could hope for is a possible customization. "crossing my fingers". :shifty:
"There are many types of monsters that scare me: Monsters who cause troubles without showing themselves, monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood… and then, monsters who tell nothing but lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance: They are much more cunning than others: They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they’ve never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them… because in truth, I am that monster."

I always wanted to customize my own outfits in a DBZ game. It would be cool to have Piccolo in Saiyan armor or Vegeta in have Goku's Turtle School Gi.

DB Xenoverse is not a DBZ simulator with fighting elements, it's a semi competent fighting/action game with DBZ simulation elements.

Oh, so it's ok to have the giant characters like Hirudegarn and the Oozarus, but small characters are too unbalanced? That is unbelievably sizeist. You should be ashamed.

By customization, do they mean that we will be able to customize the characters' moves, or appearance?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

We will be able to customize the characters' stats:
There is a system that allows players to modify characters using ability cards. By collecting and equipping cards, characters that might not be suited to battle can be boosted to make them more capable, alternatively they can be given abilities that make their natural strengths more pronounced.

So the customization is basically what we've always had?

What is the main point of this game just the 4 vs 4? This is why I say I want Spike to have ample time on working with a Tenkaichi. All DBZ games do the same thing.

Developer makes first game and it's new and therefore good.
Second game comes out and fixes a little problems of the first and adds more characters
Third game is fan service and the best of the series.

This worked for Budokai with Dimps and Tenkaichi with spike and from what were getting now it looks like will get a fun new game then a upgrade then ARTDINK will blow us out the water with Battle of Z 3.

I hope ARTDINK proves me wrong in the coming months but it's not looking like it. I hope Dimps or Spike get a shot at a Budokai 4 or Tenkaichi 4 after this.

DBZ games are starting to turn into if it ain't broke don't fix it.
