Maybe back then. Now Tenkaichi 4"or Budokai 4 are the most requested games. Spike or Dimps with the right amount of time could still make a great DBZ game.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think people were getting tired of the Sparking gameplay by 2010. That and 4 player fighting and Beers. Other than that, nothing really makes me want this game. The gameplay looks highly restrictive.hulkty wrote:WTF? Of course not...it hasn't been released and it already has. LOL!!vince90x wrote:Is it wrong that I kinda think/want this game to flop?![]()
Seriously...the ONLY worthwhile things so far are running and SSjGod... that's it...

I do not deny this. :3 It would make this game for me. I'm not hating on it yet but it doesn't look too interesting so far. The 4-player combat and BoG characters are it's highest selling points right now.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think the game looks good so far. I think people should give things a chance before hating on it.

We pretty much know nothing about the gameplay in terms of mechanics. We've seen it, but in terms of combos, techniques, physics and character individuality, we are completely in the dark and I think it's way too early to make any judgments at all, really.

The fans wanted a faithful DBZ story mode and they got it, they got a new gameplay but they hated it. Although those who played it early didn't seem to dislike it maybe because it was so new the loath didn't grow until a certain time.Hellspawn28 wrote:I think people were getting tired of the Sparking gameplay by 2010. Even if fans were to play ARTDINK's DBZ game now they wouldn't change the gameplay because it's been in development for like 2-3 years and if they'd start from scratch it wouldn't be released this year.
They definitely need to.songohan619 wrote:Dear Namco Bandai:

Now these are a few saddening facts + opinions:
1) No local multiplayer
2) In team battles, you control only one character (sad to say that we cannot switch between our teammates)
3) Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT have a slim chance of being in this game (iwould love to have them)
4) 2014 release date (although its not confirmed yet, I have seen many sites with that date)
5)Story mode could be short due to the gameplay (up to 8 fighters at a time)
I hope that the what if characters actually are fun to use and not just cosmetic (Dragon Ball rb1 and 2 and Dragon Ball Z ut)
And the what if stories make sense
Character creator isn't a 'must have' for because it disappointed me with ut so if they put it then fine but if they leave it out then no problem.
At the japan expo it was stated that the fighters have variety but I want them to all differ and not only in a few aspects such as raging blast games and ut

become relevant again

I think that's the only thing you got right. Yes, there will be no split-screen.
2) In team battles, you control only one character (sad to say that we cannot switch between our teammates)
Can you provide a source?
3) Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT have a slim chance of being in this game (iwould love to have them)
Actually, the way Namco representatives responded made it pretty clear that there will be only characters from DBZ.
4) 2014 release date (although its not confirmed yet, I have seen many sites with that date)
That's just outright wrong, the release has been already confirmed for Winter 2013.
5)Story mode could be short due to the gameplay (up to 8 fighters at a time)
What do you mean by "short"? And why would more fighters at a time indicate that the length of the storymode would be somehow affected? Namco representatives said that missions were designed in a way which allows for 8 fighters at a time while still making those missions somehow truthful to the original story. Although I can see how the content itself could be affected (i.e. the missions not following the exact storyline), I don't see how and why would that affect the length of the story.

Somewhere in all of the recent information, it was said that you control only the one character, and if you aren't playing multi-player, the others are controlled via AI. You can give commands to your teammates to change strategies though.Zeymah wrote:2) In team battles, you control only one character (sad to say that we cannot switch between our teammates)

I think they mean that the new team based system could cause them to merge fights into a single battle so that you have enough fighters on each team. So, instead of having Vegeta take on most of Freeza's men one at a time, you would get him teaming up with Gohan, Kuririn and Piccolo/Nail/whoever they would decide to use for just one fight, and then move on to the Ginyus. Not really sure I'm worried about them doing that (they'll probably make us battle the same group a couple of times or add in grunts like the Saibaimen or Freeza Soldier instead) but I could see how it would be a valid concern.

I also heard that other fighters are controlled by AI while you're not playing them, however I don't think they said that you cannot switch to another character while fighting.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Somewhere in all of the recent information, it was said that you control only the one character, and if you aren't playing multi-player, the others are controlled via AI. As for the storymode, there is a valid concern that there would be less missions if they merge them together. However, less missions doesn't mean shorter storymode (that's why I asked what is the meaning of "short" in this context). If the battles are longer and more challenging, then this could easily make up for a lower amount of missions (time-wise). Of course this is a pure speculation, since no official info indicates that the amount of missions will be lowered.

I don't think having DB and GT characters is a bad thing. After all, I don't fans in Japan were bitching about having movie characters in Legends back in 1997. I say just enjoy the game and have fun.

Enjoying the same characters for the trillionth time may become a little tiring, though. But just a little.

The past DBZ games had a decent selection of characters and the games were fun. Back then, fans were happy the games that we got. It seems like the Sparking games just made fans spoiled rotten.

"Back then fans were happy with the games we got"
And you believe this is a justification for stagnation? Lowering your standards to be happy with just what you get is what enables them to keep making games with the lowest possible effort.
And yes "decent" hits the nail right on the head, which means there is room for extensive improvement.

Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
People should just enjoy the game and have fun with it. They are doing something new for once and if the game is good then people are going to bitch about it for not having enough characters. BT3 was pretty much BT 2.5 with 10 new extra characters. I still think that most people don't like something different and fresh, and would enjoy the same garbage over again. Why you else you think movies like Grown Ups 2 is doing better then Pacific Rim at the box office this weekend

I'm pretty sure if the Sparking! games had small rosters, people would still be complaining that we've never gotten a Dragon Ball game with enough characters.
