Will FUNi release Gaiden?

Has FUNimation stated that they will release Gaiden? Has anything been said?

They haven't mentioned anything about it.

I don't really see a reason why they wouldn't. All Funimation would need to do is dub it and put it on a DVD. Plus not many people seem to have even heard about Gaiden. I would assume it would sell fairly well. I mean come on people will think its "new footage" or something. :)

Actually a lot of people have, but they incorrectly think that it's a "DBZ OAV". They don't know it's cut scenes from a video game. Even the Pojo DB Guide mistakenly called it that, though with Pojo, that's not really that suprising.

Uh..some of you seem to be forgetting about the Famicom game footage in the video. o_O It's not just all anime scenes. They would pretty much have to cut out those scenes and try their damned best to make the quality of the video viewable. Even the ones on the Dragon Boxes were quite..bland and weren't really remastered.

Oh, ok. You probably know what your talking about better than I do. I still would like to see a dub release though.

How about a DVD release with the dub, the Japanese voice option w/ subtitles by Daimao, & theability to give the choices you make just like in the Playdia game. Oh wait...someone here in the forums is already doing that.

With their tendancy to...recycle material, I'm surprised FUNi hasn't contacted Dimps about recycling the world-roaming engine from B3 and the footage from that game to make a new version. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens eventually.

What's the point? Its video game footage right? That'd be like Square Enix putting out all the cut scenes from FFVII on a DVD and selling it as a movie. Where did I hear that before?

Anyway, its pointless..

I would love to see an american release of Gaiden, but as I was thinking about this who would actually release this? I assume everyone thinks it would be a Funimation DVD. But since it is a game Funimation doesn't actually release the games. In the US doesn't Atari have the rights to all DB games? I really dont see Atari releasing an interactive DVD, but then again what do I know. I have been surprised in the past.

(I'm still working on transfering the second game to DVD. Check out the thread I started.)

Anyone seen the VHS versions that were going around? I used to see people selling them on eBay a while back, claiming them to be the "lost ovas", with the title "The Plan to Destroy the Saiyans (part 1 or 2)", with English subtitles. Some of them had cover art too. I almost bought one, but I got outbid. I was just wondering how the quality was.

Grandmaster J,
Yes I have seen those versions floating around, but that has been covered very well here.

Well whether or not they will, SHOULD they? I remember watching it and thinking it was the biggest waste of my life ever, and I'm the kind of person who will watch some major crap for the love of DBZ. Just think of every lame Toei cliche ever and put in video game footage. I think it would just be better if it faded into obscurity.....

Mr. Announcer is dead on with this one. The Playdia footage is nothing interesting or special and wouldn't end up doing well, despite what people say now. It would be a great big waste of time.

I honestly wish it never existed in the first place. Almost every Dragon Ball message board you visit has some thread about the "lost movie" or "unreleased OVA" or something ignorant and stupid. I've posted the link to Daizex's "There is no OVA!" section more times than I can count.

Well I for one would love to see anything Dragonball Z.
