Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
Joining the Galactic Patrol would be a good opportunity for Goku and company to get in some training while waiting for Beers to wake up again....

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
Something else to note. While most of us seem to think Jaco is tracking baby Goku, at the very least, this series would seem to take place sometime before the Saiyan Arc at the latest (though not between the 21st Budokai and the 23rd). Jaco bounces his ship off the moon, and we all know that's been destroyed a couple of times in the series, and fails to return after Piccolo's crack at it.
Not saying Toriyama couldn't pull a BOG-Kaio's planet though.

Is it just me or does that old man look a lot like Dr. Gero? Give him a hair cut and he looks just like him.
And he hates humans you say?

No, a lot of people have come to that conclusion as well.Jackal puFF wrote:Is it just me or does that old man look a lot like Dr. Gero? Give him a hair cut and he looks just like him.And he hates humans you say?

Re: Officer Son
It'd be a job though, wouldn't it? Goku with a job, as a police officer...I don't know if I could see him taking the offer. (But then Chi-Chi might pressure him into taking it because he'll get paid, but then it turns out the galaxy police pay their officers in a currency that isn't worth anything on Earth....)
Slightly-related, I noticed that while not completely identical, the Galaxy Police logo in Sachie-chan looks somewhat similar to the one in Jaco.

I think he would take the job if it came with the promise of getting to fight really strong opponents, and if they just happen to pay their patrolman with foodChuquita wrote:Re: Officer Son

I bet Jaco would be very impressed with Gohan's Great Saiyaman poses. You need a good pose to be a Galactic Patrolman. ::waits for Galactic Patrol DB fan art::

I have to say, I've never been a big fan of whenever these "peripheral" series pop up (wasn't crazy about Neko Majin Z, for instance), but after reading that first chapter (and fan speculation that the alien Jaco mentions could be baby Goku), I can't wait for the next installment! I'm hooked already!
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

Odd, I seen a Buu-esque guy in pink. But that's a slight coincidence.JeffJarrett wrote:I think the "unexpected person" is the blonde girl shown on promo. She hasn't appeared yet, but her appearance on promo implies she's an important character, so she'll probably appear early in the series (chapter 2). Also, the trio old man, hero, girl seems to fit Toriyama's recent choices for a group of a main protagonists.enjyu123 wrote:I believe they are going to meet with goku in the next chapter, since at the bottom it says Jako and Ommari meet an unexpected person.
And the old man, he looks like a fusion between the Sand Land characters Thief and Rao:

I'd love for it to actually be a back story on Tien and his alien heritage based on whichever daizenshuu through threw that out there!

How I enjoy the anime:

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
He looks nothing like Dr. Gero IMO, and I really don't think that for his last manga ever Toriyama is making this benevolent old man turn into the cold-blooded, evil mass murderer from one of DB's darkest sagas.
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
I just found chapter 2 in chinese...
...except i don't know what's happening...
...except i don't know what's happening...
"There are many types of monsters that scare me: Monsters who cause troubles without showing themselves, monsters who abduct children, monsters who devour dreams, monsters who suck blood… and then, monsters who tell nothing but lies. Lying monsters are a real nuisance: They are much more cunning than others: They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they’ve never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them… because in truth, I am that monster."

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
As of right now, yes. We're still looking for the connection between the two. This mini-series just began, so we don't have much to work with.JeffJarrett wrote:We are far from Dragon Ball here.
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
This makes it seem more like it's a math puzzle, or a countdown, than a "maybe it takes place 11 years before DB's plot starts" kind of thing.
Chapter 1's is 1/10+1 DB-11...
If the entire manga is 11 chapters long (and fills a single volume), and Chapter 1 is 34 pages, then the remaining chapters should be 18 or 19 pages on average which is pretty normal for Weekly Jump chapters....
I guess that would make the final chapter of this 11/10+1, which calculated out, is 1 (the whole any number divided by itself is 1 thing) with the other part of it also coming out to DB-1.
Interesting math puzzle, but I still don't get where it's going. ^^; It might just be a clever way of counting down to the very last solo chapter of manga Toriyama will draw/write.
On hiatus.
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
So the only thing that didn't change is (10+1). I don't think that's something we can figure out on our own.

Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
From what I understood, there will be 11 chapters, and the whole DB-11, DB-10 is like a countdown to the final chapter, which will have something special (probably Dragon Ball).
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: "Jaco the Galactic Patrolman" discussion thread (DB–11?)
Reading the first chapter and mainly seeing Omori, i thought the visual style for the chracters was the super-deformed one that Toriyama likes to use nowadays. However, the second chapter have characters with what you could call normal proportions, so i suppose its just that Omori is short, lol.
