DB Kai score

Post by TheMightyOzaru » Tue May 28, 2013 10:52 am

Are they gonna get a new one now that Yamamoto has been fired? I like Kikuchi as much as the next guy but I feel Kikuchi is Z not Kai.

It's the same series.

I think Kei17 mentioned there is going to be a new score in this thread.

I beg to differ. The anime for DBZ contradicted the manga multiple times and the filler made the story almost unnoticeable. Kai is trying to be the manga.

DBZ contradicted DBZ multiple times. I'm not sure what you mean by the filler making the story almost unnoticeable. That just sounds like hyperbole.

You mean a new score for the Boo Saga? Or do you want them to go back and re-score the whole series again? I'm not sure I can take the latter. 3 different scores for one series? Too much.

I liked Yamamoto for Kai. The series was meant to have a new score. I guess I can get behind a new score for the Boo Saga, but at this point they may as well finish out the series with the Kikuchi score for consistency's sake.

It's no worse than what the English dub got. First we had the Shuki Levy score, than Faulconer Productions, and then Nathan Johnson during the UUE redub. If you count the original DB & GT dubs, than we got five different scores for the DragonBall anime franchise in America.

Ah, so this answers my question that I was going to ask. Earlier Kai had different music than the later ones I saw, which seem to just be old DBZ music.

What happened? Why did they get rid of the new music?

The composer for Kai, Kenji Yamamoto, was accused of plagiarism and copyright infringement due some of his music in Kai, thus having his whole score pulled replaced from the show as well as from video games that he worked on.

Make that six if you include the GT dub with the Tokunaga score and seven if you count Kikuichi's DB and DBZ score as two separate entities. And then there's eight for the replacement score that came with the DB dub with the Ocean cast. Let's not even get started on the movies...

It will likely be the person who composed Battle of Gods, which to me is a good thing. I liked the soundtrack a lot personally. Id still kill to have the Yamamoto score back though.
