I'm getting the blu-ray from CDJapan. If I wasn't so anxious to see it, and if I had more confidence in the idea that FOX and Funi could get along (as in Funi gets to dub without FOX telling them what to do, FOX gets to have their logo on the box) only then would I have waited for a U.S. release.

As things are now, I feel like the U.S. will be one of the last to get a release of BOG.
On hiatus.

How would there be a subbed version online if the DVD/BD isn't even out yet?

I hope those limited editions don't run out too quickly, I won't have the extra money to order until school starts next month...I may be cutting it close...

Camrips are for cheapwads or for those who are realllly desperate to see a movie early. I've seen a number of camrips, and the majority of them are nearly unwatchable. And the sad part is, there are people out there who will defend them. I think it must be true what a certain podcast once said: younger people nowadays really don't care about quality. That explains how 240p videos on streaming sites can get so much traffic. All I'll say is: you get what you pay for in most cases. I'd rather pay the cash for a movie I can see and hear clearly, than sit a home on a laptop watching a bootlegged movie whose quality is so bad it feels like I have earmuffs on with cream cheese smeared into my eyes.

*END TIRADE*

The movie's not that complicated to follow. In my case, I preordered the Blu-Ray from CDJapan and will most likely be watching the movie with the Kanzenshuu plot synopsis off to the side.

That's how some anime convention video rooms would show raw, un-subbed anime back in the old days, with a translator interpreting the movie live ala commentary, or with a plot synopsis/script handed out to the audience before the screening.

Looking forward to September so I can see some sweet crisp new 2013 Dragon Ball animation~!
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

It's currently listed on Amazon Japan as being "Region A" and all of the Dragon Ball Kai Blu-rays I purchased were "Region A". On top of that, knowing that it will eventually be available internationally, I doubt they'd release it region free so other countries could import it and reduce their own sales. It just wouldn't be smart business sense.
Never stopped every other anime-publishing company from doing so with pretty much every anime ever... Or Toei themselves in regards to One Piece...

Interesting about Kai being Region A only though... I guess that could point to BoG also being region-locked...

Huh, is Kai really region locked to only region A? CD Japan's listings of the Kai Blu-Rays describe them as "Region Free" and both my Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu and Pocket Monsters movie Blu-Rays from Japan are region free as well.

It's worked for me before with buying Region 2 DVDs.
Except for the fact that I don't have a BluRay rom.

This yahoo listing appears to indicate that Hong Kong viewers will be getting a Chinese and English subtitled theatrical print of the dbz movie. I see this as a good indication that the HK dvd/bluray release of the film will have english subs. Either way, I'm picking it up for sure.

No word on a cantonese dub yet. Tvb's dbkai voice cast were all pretty decent. I hope they get these back for battle of gods.
It will be showed with english/chinese subs at the movies?

Well it looks like that Otakon is screening Evangelion 3.0 this year. If Funi got the rights to 3.0 this year and are doing screenings for it then we might get a BOG screening next year. I think a R1 DVD & Blu-Ray release will be out by early 2015. If fans had to wait 10+ years for DBZ Movie 4 - 13 to come out in the US then two years should not be a issue.

Please tell me that's a placeholder. :(

Tempted to cancel my CDJapan order and go through Amazon where it's only 8,500 yen with shipping for the limited blu-ray. I can't justify a 2,000 yen hikeup just for that.

My friend was saying this movie is coming out in English dub to USA in September. Is there any truth to that?

That's what I've been told.
Back in the 80s, movies are normally shown with Chinese and English subs simultaneously. So this kinda treatment is not unusual. The older DBZ films were always shown dubbed in Cantonese back in the good ol' days.
The world is your's.

Your response does not make any sense. You have linked -- without any additional commentary -- a review of the movie from back during its original Japanese theatrical run, which does not address (in any way, shape, or form) an international release.

Still debating on whether to order the Special Edition DVD set or not. The shipping costs are just so high and that's not including potential customs duties.
However, my sister will most likely go to Japan in Sept/Oct, so maybe I can ask her to bring me some goodies. :D

To anyone who's been to Japan/living there, which stores carry DBZ merchandise and will most likely sell the BoG movie?
