Still debating on whether to order the Special Edition DVD set or not. The shipping costs are just so high and that's not including potential customs duties.
However, my sister will most likely go to Japan in Sept/Oct, so maybe I can ask her to bring me some goodies.

To anyone who's been to Japan/living there, which stores carry DBZ merchandise and will most likely sell the BoG movie?

It's a popular movie, so I'd expect it would be in any video store. If she goes in October, you might even be able to grab it used at a Book Off for a cheaper price.

This whole Diamond Films thing seems awfully suspicious...almost unprofessional in some aspects, like it's all done by fans. I know they do films other than DBZ, but the supposed official pages for the film that they're linking really seem like they're set up by fans.

Agreed. Their advertisements look incredibly unprofessional and unofficial. Many of the images used on their facebook must be unlicensed, and some of them are not even official art from the beginning. I'm always surprised by how things go loosely in Latin America, like official voice actors doing their roles in a fan dub, and an amateur claiming to be the official singer and actually singing at events. Honestly I can't believe any news about Dragon Ball from Latin America until actual things come out.

I am! I prefer dub over sub, and I don't like BoG anyway so I am in no rush to see it. But I'm curious enough to pick up a FUNi release of it.

That is correct. Hiroko Emori did not record for the film, and Tomiko Suzuki has been deceased for a decade now. Neither role was recast for Battle of Gods.

Yeah, none of the extra stuff I've seen justifies Japanese import prices, so this is my plan as well.

Normally when I check this thread now it's in the hope that the movie has leaked online a bit early, like with One Piece Film Z.

When I check though I always hope it is some news that we will get to see that material they cut in some form. The big special edition set raised my hopes but it looks like it is mostly just fluff.

2009 - FUNimation releases Dragon Box 1 (Episodes 1-42).

2013 - Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie releases in Japanese theaters, making it the first original Dragon Ball series work in 17 years.

I'd find it interesting that they'd mention it in an official Dragon Ball release if they didn't own the rights to it.

Well, chances are they will own the rights to it at some point, but you're over-analyzing. This set is supposed to be a collector's items for fans from the beginning of Z's run in America. I think for that reason alone they should note that the company released a near-perfect version so many years later and that even now, the series is still going strong with the new movie.

Maybe I don't pay attention enough, but I've barely heard of any kind of leak here, besides a camrip from a few months ago, IIRC. But yeah, you've got a point. Someone may mention it.

That's because it's the only leak that exists of Battle of Gods, unless there is another copy of the movie going around privately that's not found in the usual places to find such things.
