When I read the scene where Piccolo forfeits, and then explains why, it's pretty clear it's because he senses who Kaioshin is. Okay, he thinks he's Grand Kaio, but you get my meaning.

I happen to love and adore the entire Boo saga. It's one of my favorite arcs of the entire series. I think it's because we get to see all the characters in a much different light, and how their incredible power that they've all built up to this point can still be challenged. You may feel like the series should've ended already, but to me, in the end, we're lucky to get more of what we love. I may be a bit more accepting, or, "easier on um'", then some, but I like to think I see the best in things.

GT is far more flawed and sloppy than the Boo saga, in yet I still believe we we're lucky to get GT. To me it's simply a good thing to see the greatness of Dragon Ball branch out into whatever format, as long as it at least inspires a few to look up and engage themselves in the original piece of work. The more the merrier, I just have hope for some enlightenment where their is doubt and ignorance among the less informed.

IMO, Goku fighting the Red Ribbon Army and both Piccolo's early on are the greatest moments in the entire Dragon Ball series. The Saiyan through the Freeza arcs feel like the icing on the cake, ( and are just as good as early DB imo ) but after that it really can be considered as "random" and "unnecessary", but I feel like it still works well to continue the evolution of these characters and their world. The Boo Saga may seam different from the others, but that is the authors will, and I for one like where he took the story. We also must not forget that fans and editors were up his ass all the time and influencing his story, mostly in the later years or course.

When did Vegeta work alongside Goku? The only time pre-Buu arc was during the Ginyu Force battle, and that was mostly just Vegeta beating up Goku's body anyway.

-Gohan's useless and weak, gets strong and doesn't even finish the job
-Vegeta becomes even more of an arrogant idiot than he was during the Cell saga
-Buu sucks, he just regenerates over and over, absorbs people, he's a dumb villain
-Goten and Trunks fusing does nothing but stall, otherwise they suck
-Vegetto, fools around and gets nothing done

Well, he worked alongside Goku's team, and was on the Z Team's side during the Cell Games. I doubt Vegeta wouldn't have worked with Goku had the heart virus not hit him.

There was already this conversation, he doesn't do nothing. He gets absorbed in order to rescue his friend and family.

Whatever arrogance (I don't think it's anywhere close to it was during the Cell Games) Vegeta shows is mitigated to him putting aside his insecurities and working with Goku to stop Buu. Hell, he even admits Goku is the best.

Cell games he didn't work with Goku. He just showed up. In fact it wasn't till the end he worked with everyone.

Not saying he was friendly, but he stays with the group. He could've disassociated himself from the team and stayed on another cliff, but he fought alongside them. He could've abandoned them but he didn't.

He fought with everyone AFTER Goku died. It wasn't really no where else to go. Unless he wanted to be annoyed by Mr.Satan.

When the Cell Jr.'s attacked, he fought along side the Z team. He could've run or stayed home, but regardless of what he said, he was part of the team. And there were plenty of places to go, it was a wide open area.

Even with Freeza, he put his differences aside in order to defeat Freeza.

When he was attacked by Cell Jr. EVERYONE was attacked. He didn't help. He was fighting the one that attacked him. Had he beaten the Cell jr then he would had waited till he was annoyed that they could't beat the Jr(s). Why would he stay home or run? When has Vegeta done that?

He tried to run during the Freeza fight. What you mentioned is still fighting with them. He could've been anywhere, but he stayed with the Z Team. For someone who claims to hate them, that speaks volumes to me.

Even though he would've fought when he got annoyed, that shows a change in Vegeta. He could just let them die.

See Guldo vs Krillin and Gohan.
He tried to run during the Freeza fight.
He wasn't a SSJ and was much less cocky. Plus he thought he could beat Goku.
What you mentioned is still fighting with them.
He just so happen to be fighting in the same area.
He could've been anywhere, but he stayed with the Z Team. For someone who claims to hate them, that speaks volumes to me.
Satan and Friends would had annoyed him to death.

Vegeta has no qualms about killing his own partner. He started changing during the Freeza arc.
He wasn't a SSJ and was much less cocky. Plus he thought he could beat Goku.
I fail to see how that disproves my point.

That battlefield was huge, and there were more places than just where the Z team were or where Mr. Satan was. He could've been fighting anywhere, but he stayed close to the team, which included his rival and his son.

Let's stop this, it's highjacking this thread, and not relevant to the Buu arc, except tangentially.

Vegeta just showed up because he wanted to beat up Cell.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Overall, I enjoy the Buu saga more than I dislike it. There are certainly some points I dont like or agree with but for me it holds up rather well.

I liked SSJ3 except for the no eyebrows. Some complain there was no previous buildup or it came out of nowhere but Goku had been training and fighting nonstop for 7 years in otherworld, id be more surprised if he didnt achieve a form past 2. I loved the whole Majin Vegeta concept, essentially bringing back Saiyan Saga Vegeta but with SSJ2 power and having him fight Goku again after years was great.

I dont like how Gohan got the shaft after his Mystic form. Yes he dominated Buu until Gotenks was absorbed and even then Buutenks only had a slight advantage, the anime made it look like Gohan was far weaker. Id have loved to see Gohan thrash Kid Buu and have Goku watch or lend his own energy for once. I also hate the Spirit Bomb was used again. Id have much prefer Goku take a page from the movies and absorb it to get his full power back as a SSJ3 or even use the Dragon Fist to kill Buu.

What?!?! In the manga, Buutenks crushed Gohan. In the anime, he managed to put up a decent fight at the beginning.

It's one of the best arcs because Toriyama is lampooning the entire series up to that point. Ridiculous transformations that up the power scale dramatically, the build up of "mighty warriors" only to all completely fall flat, and the return of some of that early DB/Slump-esque humor; It was the ending that this series needed, and I think a lot more people would appreciate these things if, say, North America wasn't introduced the the middle of the series and didn't have such a skewed view of what its about.

Or maybe they wouldn't, since the "Z" era is more popular globally anyway, but who knows?

The Boo saga has the strengths the Cell arc lacks, and vice versa.
Cold Skin wrote:The Boo Saga is my second favorite after Cell, it has many things I like:

- The ensemble, family cast. Seven years passed, and it's a new era, you feel like you've known those families all your life, it's a great feeling to be still living new adventures with them in a whole new era that feels somehow as coherent as what life turns out to be in families seven years later, with the kid now going to high school and having his seven years old little brother, and the families meeting for various events. Makes for a lot of characters involved, interacting and their destinies gathering and separating at various points. By now, those characters are all well developped.
I appreciate that, too, but...the saga pays a high price for it. The shakeup of the heroes' lineup is terrible: we lose not only Mirai Trunks, but Piccolo and Krillin, who are replaced with the dead weight of Goten and Chibi Trunks (why not 18? That's why we have Fusion, after all-to make weak characters stronger). From Namek to the Cell Games, there's a war team of heroes; after that, it's a Goku/Vegeta buddy picture with some half-assed heroics from the kids to fill time.

And Gohan should never have grown up.

...but if he had to, if he really had to, he should never have cut his fucking hair.

Gotenks seriously ruins the arc for me. Everything before and after him is fine. I just wish that Gohan would have punted him into orbit when he demanded to fight Buu.
