There are more than enough good TV shows out there. You just have to look. In fact, nowadays TV is probably much better than cinema.

DBZ Abridged does this wonderful thing that is so hard to get right but so rewarding when it works. It's character driven. Arguably moreso than the actual DBZ. Piccolo quietly staring at Gohan after Gero said dodging isn't hard is fantastically funny because giving a begrudging stare is such a Piccolo thing to do. You ever watch a movie and a scary or dramatic sequence happens and you think to yourself "wouldn't it be funny if..."? And then you complete the thought with some alternate course of events that play into the character traits of those involved? DBZ Abridged is an entire series of "wouldn't it be funny ifs."

I love how they dig into the Dragon Ball series and use inconsistencies in the actual series while mocking the early english dubs that only fans will get.

Any chance we'll see a new podcast episode sometime soon? I didn't see it get mentioned in the update video.

Ah, alright! I was fearing it was cancelled or something. Good to hear that it's not!

I'm really hoping they keep doing the movies in order. TFS Cooler is by far my favorite character.

Well the voice actor did a hell of a job. Id even go as far as saying their Vegeta is on par with Chris Sabat, especially on their latest episode. I consider their Freeza to be the best I ever heard, even more than Chris Ayres (I think thats the right Ayres) from Kai.

TFS Cooler is perfect. Same with their Freeza. Vegeta is great as well. And I'm loving their take on Piccolo. The only one I can think of that I didn't care much for was Raditz, and that was a long time ago when they weren't quite as good, and I'm not a fan of the character anyway.

I imagine LK Freeza and Ayres Freeza kicking the shit out of Linda Freeza and having a jolly good time

Ok granted Linda did a good Freeza for her time. I still respect the effort she put into the role even if the voice is jarring. She uses the same voice in Yu Yu Hakushou as old Genkai and it works because well..Genkai is a old woman. Linda did a good job, just didnt get a appropriate character for her voice.

Not really. She gender confuses Freeza worse than the Ghostbusters demon and Lumine from X8

Linda Young's really shouldn't be a gender confuser. Frieza is an alien, so why should you expect an male alien to be anything like a human male? Her voice doesn't sound like a human male's ... but she's voicing an Alien.

Her voice also sounds more menacing and scarier than Chris Ayres' Frieza voice.

That.

I can't agree with that, but she absolutely got better as much as the voice would allow. Compare Budokai 1 to Burst Limit, for the easiest reference, it's an audible change. She could have turned out something better in Kai had fate allowed, but fate gave us something far better.

I think i'll let Kaiserneko's quote speak for itself
KaiserNeko wrote:Freeza: Young played Genkai in Yu Yu Hakusho with the same voice she used for Freeza. That is mind-breakingly terrible. Ayers, on the other hand, is like coming out of a freezing storm, nearly frostbitten and about to pass out, into a warm, welcoming cabin with hot cocoa, blankets, and a supermodel of your preferred gender asking to help you get comfortable.
LK's Freeza was better than Linda Youngs.

Not going to lie: I'm a little drunk right now.

But my honest to god opinion is, as such:

Linda Young is a fucking awful interpretation of Freeza. I never once found her intimidating and even as a stupid teenager thought she sounded laughable. Freeza, from his conception, is supposed to sound male. Linda Young's portrayal is just abysmal. It sounds like a terribly old woman trying to play an aristocratic psychopath and failing every goddamn step of the way. I feel this so strongly that my opinion of anyone who prefers Linda is substantially damaged.

Chris Ayers, flat out, is the most accurate interpretation of Freeza the English speaking world has ever seen. Meanwhile, Pauline Newstone and Linda Young as wrong. Just wrong. Absolutely wrong.

And this is why your so awesome 8)

It hurts so much to watch Linda Young. One of my favourite villains if not my favourite Dragon Ball villain is bastardized and replaced with some old woman who tells terrible jokes and says some of the most awkward dialogue. I 100% agree with you.
