Funimation's "Adult" Gohan: Dameon Clarke vs. Kyle Hebert
The year 2000 saw the release of the English dub of The History of Trunks, which was generally North America's first experience with an adult version of Gohan. In the dub, Future Gohan is voiced by Dameon Clarke (who most notably also voiced Cell). However, in 2001 during the dubbing release of the Majin Buu Arc, we're introduced to the main timeline's older version of Gohan, who is voiced by Kyle Hebert. The TV special, a brief anime flashback and I believe a few video games such as "Dragon Ball Z: Sagas" would be the only times Dameon Clarke portrays Gohan, whereas Kyle Hebert portrays Gohan for the remainder of Dragon Ball Z, the last couple films, all the video-games and so on. He also would voice the Future Gohan character within many of those same videogames.
So, my question to you guys is... who do you feel did Gohan best?
I've always loved the character of Future Gohan, far more so then the main timeline's version, and I felt as if Dameon Clarke did an awesome job voicing him. I like Kyle Hebert, but I never really thought that voice fit Gohan as well as Dameon's did. I for one would have loved to have seen Dameon voice Gohan within the main series as I really feel as if Dameon just a had a more fitting voice, there was just more emotion in my opinion. For example I enjoyed his angry/yelling scenes a lot, and parts of his acting, specifically during the scene in which Gohan loses his arm and struggles to give the senzu bean to Trunks, he actually sounds a bit like Sean Schemmel.
What do you guys think?

Dameon was too gravely and didn't show much emotion at all. Maybe he could do a better job now but I doubt they'll replace Kyle Hebert who I think confirmed he was doing the role in Kai.

He did, but he deleted the Facebook post he made confirming it. He said that he was "given the blessing to finally say it," but based on how quickly it was deleted, methinks someone told him wrong...dbzfan7 wrote:Dameon was too gravely and didn't show much emotion at all. First off, just as a note - it's 'Hebert', not 'Herbert'. Poor guy is always getting his name butchered like that.
That aside, I used to really like Dameon Clarke's performance as Future Gohan, and I still like it performance wise - but overall I think Hebert is a better fit for the role, especially since there's no logical reason that that version of Gohan should have a different voice from his Boo arc self.

All that dust the Androids keep kicking up has messed up his voice.Gyt Kaliba wrote:First off, just as a note - it's 'Hebert', not 'Herbert'. Poor guy is always getting his name butchered like that.![]()

Oh, well yeah, I don't mean I think he was replaced, not at all (I hope not!). I mean I think someone was incorrect when they told him that he was OK to talk about it, based on how quickly his post was deleted.dbzfan7 wrote:I highly doubt he is being replaced.TheBlackPaladin wrote:He did, but he deleted the Facebook post he made confirming it. Re: Funimation's "Adult" Gohan: Dameon Clarke vs. Kyle Heber
Kyle win this for sure. In my opinion he sounds better as Gohan. Through Future Gohan grew up at a differ time. His voice fits(Dameon...lol My American name is that) for a badass character. I never saw Future Gohan as that. He was the same as the regular Gohan but he was forced and he struggle to fight. Kyle captures Gohan's true persona better. A geeky nerd boy. Someone even through have Saiyan blood is just a every-day person. Dameon also reminded me of Piccolo original funi voice. He sound like he had snot in his nose all the time and his acting seems forced. Kyle vice sounds clam and when time can make the voice clam but full of rage. Something that I think Dameon can't do.

I'd say Kyle.
Of course, I think that Brad Swaile from the Ocean dub did a better job than both...

I think Dameon Clarke fits Future Gohan. He sounds like Peter Kelamis' Goku. Yeah, Dameon Clarke would have made a good Goku.
Brad Swaile did the best job as the late teenaged Gohan.

Between Kyle, Dameon and Brad, I have to go with Kyle hands down. Dameon is pretty good, and I haven't heard enough of Brad's work but what I have heard, I'm not a big fan of.
If Dameon sounds anything like Kelamis, it's him but with talent.

I don't think any of Adult Gohan's English actors have impressed me. I suppose growing up on the dub and the games, I find Kyle Hebert the least offensive, but he doesn't wow me in that role. I think he does better work in Naruto and BLEACH, where he's given characters more suited to his voice.
