How did you get into Dragonball?

Basically hearing about it at school. I didn't get into it after people being nasty about liking Pokemon or something so I refused to watch it for some childish reason. This was around 2000 but I think I saw a little bit of it beforehand. I do think I saw a few moments of the Freeza vs Vegeta fight.

The Australian Kids Magazine 'K-Zone' then did a lot of stories about Dragonball in particular Trunks and the Androids that got me intrigued. In the end it was Cell that kept me watching. Also these collectable caps in chip packets (Got a Gold Ginyu and Dende I remember). This was in 2001. Nowadays the Artificial Human/Cell arc are my least favourite arcs. I say though I got obsessed in 2002.

Great posts! I really like to learn about people's experiences in stuff like this.

I think I know that feel, you know, when obnoxious fans turn you away from liking something. One time, I was in 1st grade and kids were talking Kirby: Air Ride, and I asked them kindly, "Hey, are you guys talking about Pokemon?" The other kids kept silent before saying rudely, "You don't even know what Kirby is". Did a great job on making me feel like an outcast. :(

I think I was 13 or 14 (currently 26) and it used to air around 7:00am on Saturday morning's on TYV (Canada). Then eventually when DBZ aired on YTV, they played the Saiyan Saga to Freeza Saga about two or three times over before I needed more, and decided to start finding more episodes online. And now here I am.

Since I watched Dragon Ball first, I remember confused by the Z in Dragon Ball Z. As a kid, I remember trying to track down Dragon Ball A - Y since I wanted to make sure if there was any other shows before DBZ :lol: .
