Corlette doesn't sound lifeless. You make him sound as though he delivers lines like Ben Stein.
It still a VOICE. Some people like the voice not just because it's a parody. Some just like his voice for Goku. It still a voice therefore counts. It's not official but it's a voice. It's valid, since it's not even the dub voice, it's a parody character, hence, doesn't count.
He did IMO. He sounded like he had no emotion and was just reading from the script.Corlette doesn't sound lifeless. You make him sound as though he delivers lines like Ben Stein
I enjoy Gozar's voice for some characters but too many of them sounded the same. I do like his Vegeta, Vegetto, and Piccolo. Re: Your favorite voice for Goku?
Depends on the era.
Original DB/DBZ/GT I prefer Nozawa ultimately. I'll always have a nostalgic love for Sean and whoever voiced him in the Ocean dub but she does the best job in the original shows.
when it comes to Kai however I'm gonna have to go with Sean. I haven't been a big fan of Nozawa's more recent performances like with Kai and the Dream 9 collaboration. Sean on the other hand has improved greatly with his acting and you really get that he understands the character a lot more now (Didn't he refuse to do the "hope of the universe" speech again for Kai?).
Also MasakoX is good for DB abridged but I can't imagine that voice in anything but a parody role.

Do you think posting it in bold makes any difference, it's a voice, but it's a voice for an entirely different show. It's not a fandub of DBZ because it's not DBZ.
Corlette can convey different emotions, from happiness, to anger, to sadness.
Kid Goku - Nozawa, but Saffron Henderson is pretty close, then Clinkenbeard who we didn't hear nearly enough of, and lastly by a mile is Nadolny.

It's not DBZ? Yes it is. They using the intro music, Animation, characters, and music. It;s STILL DBZ just not an official dub . Notice the title say voice of GOKU. Not DBZ. So any voice of Goku counts. Say if someone only Like TFS's Goku voice. Not because it's funny. They just think it fit him the most. Does that mean they don't like any Goku voice? No it just means they like an unofficial voice.Do you think posting it in bold makes any difference, it's a voice, but it's a voice for an entirely different show. I gotta say Corlett was pretty wooden for the most part. And I had him and Peter Kelamis before Schemmels take aired. He still does voices in cartoons around here.

You make it sound like he's Vin Diesel or Steven Seagal. He has plenty of emotion. It's not as hightened as Goku should be but it's easy to hear.dbzfan7 wrote:I gotta say Corlett was pretty wooden for the most part. And I had him and Peter Kelamis before Schemmels take aired.

Re: Your favorite voice for Goku?
It still a VOICE of Goku. People can prefer fan voices over real voices. He have used that same voice for non parody things as well. Some people just prefer his voice for Goku's character. It's not a big deal. TFS's Goku is a voice after all. It's just not official. When did this topic said it have to be official? He/She said what's your favorite voice.. SOme people said TFS's Voice. Is that an issue? No. They like the voice. Is it a parody? Yes it is. Should that change people opinion on the voice? Hell no. They like they voice. Get over it. Who cares if it's a parody or not. Who cares if it's official. It's a VOICE that the PEOPLE like. It's a parody! It says DBZ abridged, but it's a parody of the show.
A funimation dub with Ocean Voice that aired on Cartoon Network. That is what I'm hearing. He sounds bored and asleep. If you didn't hear emotions from Corlette then I don't know what you were listening to.

It's not Goku, it's ParodyGoku. It's fine if the like the voice but it's a parody, so saying "I like this voice the most" for what are two different characters is assinine, to me at least. It's a pet peeve of mine. It's not about it being official, because DBZ abridged isn't an unoffical dub of DBZ. It's not DBZ, it is a parody series. Besides, he ain't that good. It's fine for what it is but I shake my head when people seriously put his name in the same category as even Kelamis. It's a fandub and sounds like it.TheGmGoken wrote:It still a VOICE of Goku. Then clearly we are hearing two different things, because I don't know how you can say he is wooden. When he's showing concern for Gohan or in pain during the fight against Raditz, it doesn't sound remotely the same as his happy voice.

A..ar..are you serious? It's still a voice of the character known as Son Goku. Still a voice. Parody or not. It's a voice. if they like it better than official voices then who are to see say they can't say it's the best Goku voice because you don't think it counts. It counts to most people. He is kinda a good voice actor. for Goku. Not the best but far better than most official ones. He's above Kelamis IMO. Didn't you say it WASN"T a fandub. They like and say it's their favorite. If you like or not. It's how they feel. Just ignore it when someone say TFS has the best voice for *Insert character name*.ABED wrote:It's not Goku, it's ParodyGoku. I know it's a voice but it's not the same character, that's my argument. Please don't do the whole "that's their opinion" schpiel. I get that, doesn't mean I can't disagree and tell them why I think so. Yes, people have a right to an opinion but that doesn't preclude anyone from objecting.
Let's just end this, it ain't goin' anywhere.

Re: Your favorite voice for Goku?
It wasn't an issue of "refusing to do it", what Sean did was insist on doing a take using "Son Goku" in it. The dub had no intention of using it, but he wanted to, and they ended up using that take for Kai. It was also his idea to do the proper pronunciation for Kaio-Ken.YamiAtomsk wrote:Depends on the era.

I'm pretty sure I know why: Sean often talks in panels about how one of the things he loves most about the series is how much it touched fans, and knowing for some people, his performance was "their childhood" (it means a lot to him hearing stories where fans talked about how much the show meant to them, or how it helped them get through tough times). Whether or not he thinks the speech is appropriate to Goku (which, given some of the things he's said in past cons, I doubt somewhat), he's probably had enough fans ask him to do it that he likes it for that reason.dbzfan7 wrote:He said he liked that speech at Animemazement which honestly makes me facepalm. I remember in one convention vid, a fan asked him to do the speech, and he couldn't remember much of it at all, barely anything. But this fan gave the whole speech off the top of his head, and you could tell Sean was amazed (this was several years ago, mind you).
Or it could be something else, but I feel this is the reason given what I've heard from the guy on convention vids.

Anyone who knows Goku should know that speech is just so wrong. It would work for the Great Saiyaman, but not Goku.Mewzard wrote:It wasn't an issue of "refusing to do it", what Sean did was insist on doing a take using "Son Goku" in it. It may not be fitting for Goku but it's still a corny but cool speech. It's one scene I would love to see with Kai level voice acting.
