I can actually see why this wouldn't have local human multiplayer. It probably wouldn't work right.

Probably not.
They said that it may has an animated opening.
Does that count?
To this day one of my favorite parts about the Budokai games are the animated openers. So I'd say it counts. I'm all for animated cut scenes too, but if it were to do it I think it would hurt the graphics even more. One of the biggest annoyances about UT for me was watching the beautiful, vibrant 2D cut scenes and then watching them change into the dull, muddy 3D cut scenes. It made me mad everytime. The big reason for doing something like that is to go, "LOOK AT HOW CLOSE WE ARE TO THE 2D STYLE!" A good example of a game doing this right is Ni No Kuni. The transitions from 2D to 3D are almost seamless and they make you appreciate both medium. While this game looks like DBZ it also has it's own style(and still has that dark muddy look), this would clash with the current 2D style. If they used GT's color pallet, maybe?
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?

According to the French translation at 1:05, the Story Mode covers only the Saiyan and Frieza Sagas.

Yeah, did the same for me. I just checked on their official youtube channel, and there doesn't seem to be a part 2 either.

You're kidding, right. DID HE REALLY SAY THAT?

Please tell me it's "We have only showcased Saiyan and Freeza saga yet" or something along the lines. How is THIS going to conquer the world? I tried to be optimistic but with more bad news and 8999 scans of Saiyan Saga i can't be happy forever.

PSX handled better games.

At least the roster extends past it. Since the story mode is being dicked with to shoehorn in team battles it's not a huge loss anyway.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Without Story Mode i don't see the reason the roster will be big. We can say goodbye to characters like Tapion or Hirudegarn now, that primarily focused on story. Heck, most of Boss Battles. Are two Oozarus going to be it?

Come on, this is 4 vs 4 and it should have atleast a RB2 roster if not a bit bigger. Or just replace characers like Dore and Neizu with Birus and Whis. It needs a bit of variety, or we will see battles of 4 Gokus vs 4 Vegetas from the lack of characters.

It would be also anti-climatic to see the game go like "Congratulations, you have beaten Freeza! After watching the ending, go and play through the survival/arcade/whatever mode to unlock new characters!"

I love the way some people completely overreact about this game.

"Le mode de jeu "historie" se concentre sur la saga Saiyan mais egalement la saga Freeza. Mais l'histoire ne se limite pas au point de vue de Son Goku. Dans certaines missions vous combattez du cote Freeza. Et vos ennemis seront Goku et d'autres Z Warriors."

Why do some Internet defenders keep call it overreacting? Look how many DBZ Games we've had since the PS2 times passed. None managed to break the main PS2 titles since (B3/BT3). After keep being underwhelmed, I don't see a reason to be all happy about this game if we're keep getting BAD news.

Can't we get a proper DBZ Game? I'm sorry, but I, like many others, had some expectations after the Namco Bandai tease how this is going to be the best thing ever. 4 on 4 doesn't make a game super cool if it's done wrong.

Uh, oh.

I mean the roster could still possibly exceed what the story covers but dammit man this is terrible news.

It's pretty certain it will. We've seen characters like Fat Buu in the in-game models, the character types revealed that we have sword moves and energy drain (implying Jinzoningen and Trunks or Dabra.) and Sabat said we'd have voices for the new Battle of Gods characters besides SSG Goku.

I'd be kind of glad if the story mode only went up to the Freeza Arc, I normally switch off after that anyway. And I'd rather them do more work on the multiplayer online experience than work on giving us the story we have already played through plenty of times.

Besides, after the Freeza Arc how convenient would 4 man battles really be? Nearer the end of DBZ it's a lot of one-on-ones with the more powerful characters, you'd be playing as Goku, Gohan, Vegeta & Piccolo/Trunks/Goten for pretty much the Android Arc through to the end.
