What do you do when DB is discussed on another forum?

Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Atari- just frustrated me but I only joined after I finished my final year of school to help ease waiting for BT3...But there was a few good people there.

I also joined a site called 'DragonballZGT', which was about members all posting their ideas for a perfect Dragonball game in the hope that developers would like some of them and incorporate them into their games. Despite being filled with mostly dub fans, it was a great place and they weren't ignorant of the Japanese version. But this is the time I was turning more into a Japanese fan and not liking the dub.

IMDB- was good with a great bunch of people- again mostly dubbies. But it was off-topic the majority of the time.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

I totally get that, but sometimes my inner Dragon Ball fan just wants to correct that person because they're usually wrong.
They're wrong because they have a different taste in music and voice preferences?
No, just like when they state things that have been proven wrong in the Daizenshuu and stuff.

I discuss Dragon Ball on other forums anytime I feel like getting into an internet sissy fight. But most of the time I don't bother.

ShadowDude112 wrote:The title says it all. I see some places like the escapist talk about DBZ sometimes and I actively avoid it because I know it will be a thread based solely on the dub with wrong information. In fact, recently, I was on 4chan's board called /co/ and Dragon Ball was brought up. Someone mentioned the Faulconer score and I made a green text saying that the Japanese score was superior. Everyone said that the music sucked and the English dub was tons better and Goku, Gohan, and Goten all sound the same and how they sound like nails on a chalk board. It's just hard to be the only knowledgeable person there and everyone just brushes you off. It's also kind of frustrating. Anyone else have an experience like this? You know, where you wanted to talk about Dragon Ball, but everyone was talking about the dub and not the Japanese version.
To be fair that isn't really about knowledge, its more about opinion.

But I don't usually discuss DB any where else. The other forums I'm on don't usually have it come up and if it does its just some little thing like a reference or meme or something. There might be a little discussion but nothing much.

Hmm...out of curiosity, which sites do you guys have in mind when we talk about ignorant DBZ fans? And what exactly do you find there that turns you off? Factually wrong information from dub fans, extreme Japanese bashing, or just different opinions?

Youtube(If that counts) - Just a bad place to talk about anime. To the point of saying JPN or accurate dubs doesn't matter cause the english dub is the best

DB Wiki - Fans who think english dub of DBZ is a gift from the heavens and is the best thing since slice bread. I respect their opinions but to the point of saying JPN or accurate dubs doesn't matter cause the english dub is the best makes me just laugh

DBZF - Not as bad as others IMO. But I'm sure we all have some different experiences. Could easily be as good as Kanzenshuu if they learn to be civil.

NeoSeeker - Just bad IMO. The topics are out of the world(DBZ).
Goku SSJ3 Super Kaio Ken x10 vs Super Buu
. I that can turn into how much stronger is Boo(Super) than Goku SSJ3 but the members there are jackasses IMO. They pretty much are rude and say "What the fuck did you ask this? There no debate in this." Even through I think some topics would have great debates if Handel on here. I've also seen people go AF mode there.

pojo - Use video games in debate. Such as when I played Tenkaichi 3 I beat SSJ4 Goku with BROLY! That means Broly > SSJ4. They also think besides Broly. Goku is just unbeatable and go by Toei Goku.

When I see a discussion in other places, it's usually arguing about power levels, discussing parodies, or some other thing I don't care about. There will also be times when someone is trying to receive clarification on something, and everyone is using quotes from the inaccurate English dubs as answers. It just hurts seeing the misinformation that spreads because of it. I remember seeing a review of DBZ for Kinect, and the reviewer said that they only managed to get a handful of the actors back. It just makes me want to go in the comments and say, "DAUGH! Those actors were recast!" In general, the discussion I see is highly dub-centric, full of misinformation, and not necessarily something I'm interested in reading. Here at Kanzenshuu, the majority of us can string coherent thoughts together, as well as discuss opinions without resorting to name-calling.

"Over saturation is easy. Just drag the slider to the right and there you are: instant interest. And certainly, the majority of the public likes saturated color images. In fact, if you want to quickly create a popular image, simply over saturate the colors and increase the contrast. While you may not achieve a sophisticated image, you will achieve an image that will please a less demanding audience." - Alain Briot

For me its the DB wikia, they aren't consistent. They defend the use of English names because they are the English Dragon Ball Wiki. Ok fine but yet on their Dragon Ball Manga page they say that the manga is the highest level of canon. THEN WHY THE FUCK IS KURIRINS PAGE TITLED: Krillin? That's the English ANIME name, the English Manga name is KURIRIN!!! Some of the admins over there are complete idiots.

One of their admins actually joined here 3 years ago. He basically asked what to do to fix the wikia and it just became a huge shit fest because the members on the wikia didn't want anything to change. I think he still comes on here.

Please, folks, stop the flat-out name dropping and shit-talking. It's in incredibly poor taste. Everything you specifically say you dislike about some other very specific community, I'm sure they can and will turn right around and shit-talk you (probably legitimately so) right back at you.

And therefore right back at "us". And that's very not cool.

I'm fine with the "in general terms, here's what I run into and why I dislike dealing with it"... but please keep the specific, personal attacks to yourself. It's not welcome.

Dragon Ball (Well, "DBZ") sometimes gets discussed in an IRC channel I'm on and by my Facebook friends or people who like the same pages as me. On Facebook, I often see people who have no idea that the manga, Dragon Ball anime or Japanese version exist, and try to educate people, simply by telling people that they do, such as when someone posted a picture of the cast of the Red Ribbon Army saga and someone was like "who the fuck are all those people? is this GT?" and someone else asked "was there really a more adult version of DBZ made in Japan in the 90s?". Generally, no matter where I am, I come across as knowing too much about Dragon Ball. I just can't help saying things like "Actually, Yamcha only died twice. Once to a Saibaiman and once to Boo", and I end up getting called a geek.

Outside of this community I discuss it only really on 4chan. It goes down.....about how you'd expect. But it's at least entertaining.
