Thoughts on DBZ Movie 7
Discuss Super Android 13! I thought it was nothing special, but enjoyable I guess.
So, I'd like to start a thread for each of the remaining DBZ movies that Kamiccolo hasn't mentioned.

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 7
This movie has one redeeming concept, which is actually answering the question of "dude what would happen if Goku just absorbed the genki dama" - a question which, if left untouched, would CONSTANTLY be talked about in DBZ circles.
Other than that, more androids is really not what I needed.

Androids 13, 14 and 15 were mentioned in the manga and stated to have been "close to completion". IMO, that justified bringing them in.

I know that they were mentioned, but the movie obviously didn't bear fruit in regards to giving them an INTERESTING angle.Dr. Machismo wrote:

It was just sort of, "hey, we're androids, we're here, fight us."

I think most of the Dragonball movies were similarly lacking in depth. Bad guys appear, and they have to be beaten.Cursed Lemon wrote:I know that they were mentioned, but the movie obviously didn't bear fruit in regards to giving them an INTERESTING angle.Dr. Machismo wrote:

People stealing my thread ideas; we gonna have problems kid.
I liked Funimations Android 13. Having a redneck villain was cool
Absorbing the Genki Dama was a nice twist on a tired movie plot device, and the fights between Vegeta and Trunks, and Androids 13 and 14 were fun.
I give it a B.

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 7
I think I really like this one because of it's location choices. You have a short fight in the middle of the city at the beginning, but then they switch it up to the arctic. We'd never seen a fight quite like that and the use of the environment was really fun. As well, the animation in this one is actually pretty great in some spots. I love the movie's use of Trunks, Vegeta gets a good few moments, and the Androids designs are neat, though a tad tacky.
It's one of my favorites, for some reason. I will say, it really could have done more to give the Androids character, but alas.

I think the movie have great music and fight location, and i liked Androids designs. But, i didn`t like fact, that Goku/Trunks/Vegeta fight most of time without SSJ, why? They kicked their butts, and they should already know, that Androids overall are formidable opponents.

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 7
Loved the music, locations and Android 13's transformation and opening scene with the main story connection. The arctic is one of the coolest location and also well used in fights here. Well, animation was pretty bad in first half of the movie, I think the design of the androids sucked (But I like Super 13) and it was nothing more then skirmish. This movie is mediocre, but one of my favorites.

Animation - C+. Nice colors. Fluent But nothing really special.
Plot - D. Honestly didn't fine the plot good. The ending with the fusion of Genki Dami(Genki Dama) was cool but after seeing the android arc. This bored me.
Music - C. Great Music as always. Plus "Charging up The Genki Dama" BGM is awesome.
Fighting - C. Nothing special.
Overall this movie bores me. Not as much of TOM but this almost takes the cake as the second worst DBZ movie not counting Bio-Broly. I honestly can't remember much of this movie besides the SSJ Genki Dami

But! This one just came off as slightly more boring than most. I mean, I personally have the opinion that at least half of the DBZ movies were completely unnecessary, but that's just me.

Super 13 hits very hard.
Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 7
Pretty boring movie, never liked it that much, tho I like the design of the androids and the place the fighting happens, but the movie itself just, I like the beggining, Goku and Chi-Chi haging out in a "LET'S GO SHOPPING" manner, with Trunks getitng dragged out by the others, but when they start fighting it becomes more of the same.

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 7
The worst one IMO. Boring fights, illogical base saiyan wank, more useless jobbers, racist and tacky designs, EXTREMELY boring villains (except Funi Redneck 13), no interesting fights, huge Broly-esque anticlimax (Super 13 = Broly in more ways than one), and typical Goku wank where he'll fight the weaker form of the bad guy evenly only for the actually stronger side characters to show up just in time for the bad guy to become maximum and dominate everyone. I mean come on, Kamiccolo deserved better here. With this and Metal Cooler, it just seems like the Toei writers REALLY wanted to downplay that Vegeta and Piccolo had both surpassed Goku. They did the same thing in Movie 8 with Gohan.
The only good part about this movie was Super 13's nutcracker. Oooooh, that had to hurt.

Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Same built.Super 13 = Broly in more ways than one)
Only difference besides skin is pants color and hair
Same face
Pretty much EVERYTHING is the same cept for Hair and skin
Did I mention the hair and skin is the only difference?
Glad someone else caught this.

Super 13 is actually Legendary Super Saiyan God Broly. He faked his own death for the lulz but eventually got retaken by Paragus.

I really liked the music for this movie. Original not the english of course. Everyone trying to delay 13 while Goku was charging his genki dama was cool. I liked Trunks little speech right before he dashes at him. For some reason the whole speech is cut from the edited version..

Re: Thoughts on DBZ Movie 7
Pretty forgettable movie. It would have been great if all the battles took place in the city the movie started in, with buildings falling all around and such.
Guys, the reason why that sort of thing didn't happen in the manga is because Toriyama hated drawing complex backgrounds. In a movie you guys can do that. Don't give us that "We'll fight where there are less innocents in danger" bullcrap, because the villains shouldn't be so accommodating. I mean, those androids should have been blasting giant holes in the sides of skyscrapers and those giant tower things DB cities have, collateral damage everywhere.
Instead, yawn, we go to some wasteland area again, have boring fights, Genki Dama time, Zzzzzz....
Only thing memorable about this movie are the parts in the city and Goku getting slammed in the baby baster.
