Thoughts on DBZ Movie 10

Post by TheGmGoken » Tue Aug 13, 2013 4:18 pm

Ah. The next Broly movie.

Animation - A+++++++++++. The animation here is what attracted me to the movie. It's one of the best in the movie series.

Plot - C. Nothing special. How Broly landed on Earth from the SOUTH galaxy is beyond me. Goten and Trunks being stars of the movie is a great idea but poorly executed. Why Broly? I know he's popular but could't they just make up a good bad guy? Goku returning was nice and much better than what happen in Movie 9.

Music - B. Good music. Nothing special IMO

Fighting C. The fighting didn't get good(If you count GOten and Trunks vs Broly as a fight) till Gohan came. The return of even fights came(PLEASE DON"T DEBATE THIS) when Gohan vs Broly started. Broly getting angry that Gohan was doing good was fucking amazing. Gohan using battle smarts is something neat as well. The final clash was a nice touch and funny ending with GOhan and Videl.

Decent movie. Not the best. Not the worst.

One of worst movies in my opinion, Broly was made more stupid, i don`t like Trunks and Goten, and since they were main heroes, it repel me from movie

I thought Kamicollo went to a vacation with his family. But this is the only topic I made for this type of thing. I was honestly going to wait till Thursday to make Movie 11. YOu're thinking of Dr.Machimoso who made 3 threads withing 50 seconds.

I kinda like this movie, maybe because this was actually the first thing DB-related that I watched ever. I didn't mind my dub's voices at the time (thank you Paulo Espirito Santo and your bad guy voice, you're awesome). On the movie itself, I never found it as bad as people make it out to be, I mean yeah Broly is boring as hell here, but what were you expecting? I love the animation here, it's pretty consistent compared to movies before it, I really like some pieces of music from this one, specially near the end before the Beam Struggle, that sad piece is just amazing.
The fighting is what shows the "meh" out of this movie, like, we already know how strong Broly is based on the prequel, we know that he didn't get any powerup nor went the mechanical route so we basically know that the only guys capable of fighting this guy would be Gohan, Vegeta (where was he again?) or Piccolo (where was he again?), tho I do love the comical way Goten and Trunks try to fight him. Then Gohan shows up (also, why didn't he use this outfit more often? It's so beter than the Great Saiyaman and Goku's gi, I dunno, It's still like Piccolo's, but it feels his own thing) and the real fight starts, I like the fact that they reused the LSSJ transformation animation, (excpet it was done better in movie 8....too bad), but then, Broly completely destroys Gohan... Now I know that Gohan didn't train for seven years and all that but...BROLY WAS FROZEN DURING SEVEN YEARS, but meh I don't understand crap when it comes to how power is handled in this series. Anyway Gohan gets mad, makes a Kamehameha and a Beam Struggle with him and his bro begins against Broly....I don't like this struggle, not only were Gohan and Goten beaten up to a extreme, Broly's energy ball was just so much bigger, but meh, the two get to win (with the awesome help of Goku-WAIT HOW THE FUCK DID YOU GET HERE!?) and everything is good.

Not bad!

Goten and Trunks are the worst fighters in all DB. Well, they are powerful children with 0 experience in combat skills.

I always wondered why Vegeta and Piccolo never showed. I would love to see a fight between them against Broly.

I hate short haired Videl, I hate Goten and Trunks, and I hate M10 Broly. These 3 things ruin all other aspects of the movie for me.

It gets a D.

The movie was nothing special. I feel like Broli have been left dead after Movie 8 and Toei didn't have him became a cash cow.

Terrible. The second worst DBZ movie, after Movie 7. Goten and Trunks' antics were not all that funny, Videl sucks as usual, and Broly... oh my god why is Broly here? Why did they make another Broly movie? All it did was serve to make him the laughing stock of the non-Brolytard fanbase, as he can't form basic sentences and mistakes Goten for Goku- I mean "KAKAROOOOOOOOOTTTTT!!!111!!!1!1! ". The fights were mostly bad as well, featuring more base saiyan wank and more Broly annihilating everything. Gohan at least got in one good hit on him, that caused him to grunt in pain and stunned him for several seconds. That was kinda cool. But other than that it was a boring curbstomp. The only thing good here was the animation.

Oh, and how could I forget ~~~**~~GOKU~~**~~~. He shows up out of nowhere to actually win the battle for everyone, just like Movie 9. GOKU DID NOT NEED TO BE IN THIS MOVIE. Him being there cheapens the victory as well as the whole idea of Gohan being the Earth's new protector. But nope, just bring in the Goku. Goku has to do everything, everyone is helpless without Goku, et cetera. I would've liked it better if Gohan, Goten, and Trunks defeated Broly alone. At least Broly being sent into the sun finally SHUT HIM UP.

In my head canon ending, Broly showed up only to get beaten like a redheaded step child by SS2 Vegeta. But then, I suppose this movie could happen in a universe where SS3 Goku killed Fat Buu without saying anything about fusion first. That would explain Goten knowing about him, Videl's hair, and Vegeta being absent.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

The animation is what the entire series should have been like.

It's an alright movie but definitely not one I'd consider watching as often as I do with other movies I like over it.

Waste of time. First off, I don't care, Gohan should be able to entirely obliterate Broly without so much as a second hit. You can explain to me your zenkais or Broly's special Hulk setting, but come on. This movie should be about five minutes long.

Also, I wanted to punch Goten and Trunks in their little throats and toss them into a black hole. I usually like them, but they were super annoying in this.

Like Movie #8, I really liked this movie up until the actual fighting started.

I did like the bit where Kuririn saved Gohan..making us think it's Piccolo again.

It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

Trunks, Goten, and Videl's shenanigans were kinda amusing. Seeing Gohan be able to handle Broly by himself was satisfying after the blood bath in movie 8 and "Piccolo" saving him again.
