YYH has similarities to DBZ but it's a much better constructed and darker story.
Meh. I find DBZ better constructed but YYHS is much darker I'll admit.

I love DB, but it is pretty much simply good guys fighting bad guys throughout. Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't have anything close to the twists and turns of the Sensui arc. It also makes better use of all its characters, by that I mean, even though Yusuke grows by leaps and bounds, the other characters don't fall by the waste side. Even though Kuwabara sits out the last arc, there's good reason for it in the story.

To each of their own. I didn't feel YYHS was very well constructed, Not to mention people seem to forget the supporting cast of DBZ were once useful. Depends on your preferences though. As I don't really care for most supporting cast in the first place. That goes for almost every anime except for like 7. But for this to continue please PM me. If not just don't reply kay?

Only other anime with tossing supporting characters to garbage bin, I can think of right now, is Naruto. Outside of DB and Naruto, I don't know about any other. As I don't enjoy One Piece a bit as Dragon Ball or my other favorite anime, I always loved how each character is important.
FighterZ, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat: Funky_Strudel

" Do you hate when DBZ fans say every anime is a rip off "

well, maybe. but not as much as i hate it when some of those Naruto and OP arrogant fans deny Dragon Ball's influence. i was discussing with an OP fan about Goku and Luffy, he even said Luffy's character isn't inspired by Goku's at all. Like WTF ?!! Eiichiro Oda himself said it. even if he didn't it's so damn obvious!
you have no idea how much it piss me off. Dragon Ball is inspired by Journey to the West and i'm fine with it, being inspired by something doesn't Reduces the value of the series.

Id say Bleach has gotten better. Currently its not helping but in the past a lot of side characters helped. During the Hueco Mundo arc many side characters got kills on high ranking enemies and even the "main" side characters like Chad and Uryu got some wins under their belt. Rurouni Kenshin also gave nearly every character a significant win also.

The Sensui arc wasn't very well written from a plot standpoint to me. What was the point of the "fake" Sensui Seven if all Sensui wanted to do was go to Demon World to die? Where was the need for the Dimension Sword if he could already pass through the barrier with his Sacred Energy? Why even cut the barrier when you have the SDF to worry about, something both he AND Itsuki should've known about considering that 1) Sensui was a former Spirit Detective and 2) The SDF were feared all across Demon World BY demons? Sure, things like Yusuke's death, him being a demon, Amanuma's death and Yusuke's "capture" at the start were interesting and some were good plot twists, but I can say the same thing about Goku's death, when he was revealed as a Saiyan at the start of DBZ, Trunks's introduction etc. 3 Kings arc will forever be my favorite arc in the series

The point of the seven split personalities was to show his mind fractured as he plotted to kill all the humans, while at the same time keeping his true self "pure". The Jigen-to was slice the dimensional barrier and allow the strongest demons through. He didn't just want to get to Demon world, he did actually wish to kill every human.

Yusuke didn't know about the SDF. Sensui is stronger than the SDF.

I love One Piece. It's a close 2nd for my favourite anime series. It clearly took some inspiration from Dragonball but at the same time is very much its own show and very different in many ways.

It does annoy me when people look down on DB and don't consider it a "real anime" though.

As for Naruto it seemed to be very popular years back with people calling it "the next Dragonball". These days it gets a lot of hate. The show really did go over the top with flashbacks though.

I read the manga, and unlike the anime, he wanted to go through with his plan to kill all humans, so I guess that makes sense. Also, I noticed that, unlike the anime, he didn't care about redemption for all his past deeds so thats nice too, makes it more consistent.

Hmmmm, still doesn't explain why Itsuki wasn't aware, considering the SDF were feared by virtually all demons. Also, they could repair the barrier, so him not considering that when trying to cut it is a plothole to me.

Since we're talking about YYH, when i started watching it, i thought it was not some classic typical shonen anime (cuz i always hear people saying DBZ sucks and they like YYH much more)

but really .. it's as the same as Dragon Ball in term of quality and such, it sure has more character development. but i don't see what makes it so better than Dragon Ball .. strategy fights ? Dragon Ball had them! Tenkaichi Budokai fights are better than YYH fights. plot ? not that much, cuz it have a a lot of shit that doesn't make sense, such as ..
though that, i still love it , in fact i rate it 10/10 and it's one of my favorites animes ever. but saying it's SO much better than DB ? sorry, NO. they're not that different!
it may be a little better, but it sure has some of Dragon Ball problems.

To me, Dragon Ball is just a better YuYu Hakusho. From a character, plot and action standpoint, its jut better to me. YYH is my 2nd fav manga/anime of all-time,not to mention, it requires a little more critical thinking than Dragon Ball does. Things like Sensui's sense of justice, Toguro's and Genkai's relationship etc. all add a sense of complexity (mainly from an ethical standpoint) that isn't all too prevalent in DBZ. Then again, you have things like #16 being purely mechanical and being able to feel things and "literal evil" people like Piccolo and Buu eventually becoming good guys, so who knows.

how Genkai returned to life
The winners of the tournament get a wish, which I'm guessing Koenma is bound by and had to deliver.
Itsuki wasn't aware, considering the SDF were feared by virtually all demons.
That's a minor plot hole, but not one that really changes anything. Sensui was more than powerful enough to kill the SDF.

I love how intricate his plan was and how much Sensui took into account, including having Gamemaster die so Koenma could use up some of the energy in his pacifier.

There are a lot of shows that are better written than DB, but I love DB's characters, tone and humor more. It's like comfort food.

^Really? I thought that was for the Black Black Club to do (I remember in the anime though, Genkai walked into Koenma's office after talking with Toguro before he went to Limbo. It was just a feel-good moment for me personally, didn't think it hurt the story that she came back).

Well, i probably didn't said it right, it makes sense. but it's just a stupid way to bring characters back to life, just like what happen in DBZ bringing back characters from death with the Dragon Balls. but i think the difference is it's overused in DBZ, unlike YYH.

and other things that YYH do it just like dragon ball is the "more he fight the more he get stronger" theory. just like that time when Kuwabara all of the sudden defeated his opponent right when he saw Hiei's sister -the one he had crush on, forgot her name- .. this shit was way too ridiculous!

Perhaps you're right, but there's no reason why Koenma wouldn't want to let Yusuke get his wish. I'm less interested in the mechanics of it than I am the emotion.
but it's just a stupid way to bring characters back to life
They went through an entire tournament, so they earned that wish.

Yukina is her name and that's one of my favorite moments! I love that moment. He was willing to give up his life to ensure his team would win, but gets a last second boost when his lady arrives.

Yeah, I hated that too. Completely ruined any sort of tension.

I hear ya, however it served its purpose in story. It wasn't merely to drum up audience sympathy. Toguro wanted to get Yusuke pissed and as strong as he could. He saw Yusuke's powers were heavily tied to his emotions, much like Gohan's.
Yeah, I hated that too. Completely ruined any sort of tension.
The fight was at its end. It could've only end one of two ways, either Kuwabara was gonna die with Risho, or he was gonna find a way to win it without dying. You may feel there as a lack of tension, but there was still a story and drama.
cuz they didn't know this would happen.
That Genkai would die? Why does it matter if they knew?
52 was sad, but Genkai's resurrection was very happy.

Fight wasn't at its end, in the manga the guy was completely kicking Kuwbara's ass and then when Kuwbara hears Yukina's voice, Kuwbara automatically one shots the guy because of "the power of love"
