Yeah, I like to call the Kaio-Ken "Warlord Fist" (the translated name is "World King Fist", but I think "Warlord Fist" sounds so much better) and Gohan's Ultimate form his "pure" form. Spirit Ball sounds cooler as "Sparking Bullet" too. And "Super Great Ape" is a better term for Golden Great Ape.

The only thing I really call a official term by another name is SSJ4. Its a word coined by The Devil's Corpse as he calls it Hitoozaru (man ape) and it seems to fit SSJ4 perfectly. I think a decent english term would be True Saiyan.

Could be a fan-made name topic and he is asking if people make up their own names for stuff and if so to post them here. Title might be a typo and should read "Do you come up with your own names to call stuff from the series".

If not, then no I don't use any of the names he posted and don't think many do (or at least I haven't really seen them much). And the title would be a little odd.

Nobody likes "Warlord Fist"? A lot of attacks/terms get translated/Americanized for the English releases (Oozaru was turned to Great Ape, Genki-Dama to Spirit Bomb, Taiyo-Ken to Solar Flare, Kienzan to Destructo Disc, Kakarotto to Kakarrot, Saiyajin to Saiyan and more), so I thought Kaio-Ken should have been translated. But World King Fist sounds odd, so I came up with Warlord Fist.

Thoughts on the rest?

Thing is Machismo, a lot of us prefer the actual Japanese term and not the translated/americanized terms. I prefer Spirit Bomb over Genki Dami, but also prefer Kienzan over Destructo Disk. Everyone has their preferences, but the majority preference here leans to the original Japanese terms, at least from what I've seen.

And the people who don't prefer the Japanese term are probably going to like what they were used to in the dubs or like me kind of mixed and like some names better in original and some dubbed. So while I like Spirit Bomb and Solar Flare better than the Japanese names I don't like the translation or slightly changed translation of Warlod Fist or World King Fist. Maybe if that's what was in the dub and what I had heard a bunch of times I would but now, I'm just not liking it. Same with Gohan's pure form, they just don't seem to fit for me even though I clearly see the reasoning of the names. Sparking Bullet is ok but how many times do they even say Spirit Ball? And Super Great Ape is fine but I hate GT so...

Let's try to salvage any worth this thread may have, okay? I think it has value as polling whether or not people come up with their own names for things that are either officially badly-translated or haven't been officially translated at all, and so forth.

For example, I use the name "Redgic" for the awesome-despite-the-leotard guy Goku fought during the climax of the Imegga arc in GT. FUNimation's "Ledgic" doesn't adhere well enough to the original "credit" pun for my taste (though in a way, it kind of swaps in another one that fits, "ledger.") I'm considering using "Redict," which as a spelling preserves the pun even better, but... isn't how the name is actually pronounced when you listen to it. So if I do switch, it'd be kind of a trade-off.

I also use "Tsufrian" for the race that co-habitated Planet Vegeta with the Saiyans. FUNimation's "Tuffle" sounds dumb and doesn't preserve the pun well (though again almost swapping in another one, "truffles," drawing from mushrooms instead of fruit). The subtitles' choice of "Tsufruian" has a few too many vowels for my taste.
