For me, I'd probably geek out for his Beast Wars characters and would love to hear a scenario involving Rattrap, Dinobot, Waspinator and Silverbolt.

For some reason I no longer feel motivated to pick this up. I must admit, I'm quite disappointed with the packaging. It doesn't seem as thick as I'd imagined, and the book itself doesn't seem to contain anything noteworthy. The actual look and feel of the book just reminds me of the books included with Funimation's Dragon Box.
And if it's not gonna look good on my shelf, and if I'm not gonna watch the DVDs more than once...then, no sale.

I had the same problem. I traded a bunch of DVD's and such that weren't selling on ebay and got like $45 in trade in and got the price down to $20DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:For some reason I no longer feel motivated to pick this up. I was originally thinking about buying this package but it's unavailable on Amazon UK, that feeling of wanting to own this no longer exist and don't want to risk pay any extra fees so I'll just buy Wonderful 101 which apparently that didn't have too many prints.
Amazon CA is still trying to find a copy of Dragon Box 2 for me, they sent an email today without even the need of contacting them.

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ: "Rock the Dragon"
Mine arrived today and I have to say I'm very happy with it.
It's great seeing the Saban-Ocean dub again and Levy's score is awesome as is Corlett's Goku. The only minor problem is that some of the discs, particularly disc 9, are a bit of a challenge to get out and rub against the packaging a bit, although they are well protected from outside damage.

Princess snake and Escape from Piccolo have the same N.E.P (showdown in the past). Is this a mistake on the DVD? It's been a long time since I saw the NEP that I forgot. I know when Escape from piccolo originally aired it was not rebroadcast until toonami. Could that be where this error came from?

I don't have my CN recordings from 2008 currently with me but I recall the Showdown in the Past NEP playing earlier than it should have, though the Madman volume had the correct NEP on Princess Snake's Hospitality.eledoremassis02 wrote:Princess snake and Escape from Piccolo have the same N.E.P (showdown in the past). I don't know if anyone noticed it but, during the Princess Snake episode, the way Goku says "Sooooorry" is very distinctly Canadian. I actually laughed out-loud when I heard it. Since that moment, I've noticed most characters will pronounce it that way, even when imitating Southern or New York accents. lol. I haven't seen this dub in years.

I had the same reaction when I replayed the first Mega Man Legends a few years ago and heard Mega Man say "Sore E".Aoi wrote:I don't know if anyone noticed it but, during the Princess Snake episode, the way Goku says "Sooooorry" is very distinctly Canadian. Yeah, well, imagine us Canadians trying to get use to hearing "ZEE" or r-OUT instead of r-OOT with those southern drawls that all Americans have! It's frustrating!!Aoi wrote:I don't know if anyone noticed it but, during the Princess Snake episode, the way Goku says "Sooooorry" is very distinctly Canadian. Hearing this (sorr-E for example) is music to my ears hahaha. Especially being a Vancouver guy. The actors all share my dialect.

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ: "Rock the Dragon"
It's actually really amusing to see how far they went to avoid reference to death in these episodes. I'd forgotten how funny some of it was like right after Vegeta and Nappa land on earth after crashing through buildings Vegeta saying "Too bad it's Sunday. Tomorrow those buildings would have been full of people". It's hilariously funny because not only is it absurd that Vegeta would know earth days and work schedules but it also shows how much of a jerk he is. And right after that Nappa proceeds to blow the whole city into the next dimension. Although the narrator addresses it on the next episode calling it "an evacuated city". Those humans sure must have gotten out quickly
And who could forget the news chopper getting blasted with that guy shouted "They just destroyed our storage bot!" or something along those lines. Looking back there was some real tongue in cheek stuff about the edits but it's worth it for the laughs. At least in this early Ocean dub the removal of death was done in a way that made sense unlike the Cell saga were they make the wish "Please heal all those hurt by Cell". It makes me wonder why they didn't just stick with the whole next dimension thing in their later dub rather than mindlessly referring to obvious killing as "hurting people".

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ: "Rock the Dragon"
This has to be some of the worst "DVD packaging" FUNimation has done so far, it's like they don't value the condition of the discs and don't think that people will be rewatching them various times to have placed them in the book.
For $70 at least they should have included a god damn DVD plastic case for the discs, I'd have excused them if it were on Blu-ray Discs which take more hits to being scratched than a DVD but not this. Idiotic move this was, FUNimation.
However, if I find this for £40 or less I'll perhaps snatch one otherwise not interested.

Re: Listing for "Ocean Dub"-specific DBZ: "Rock the Dragon"
Since I didn't want to make a thread about this, I'll just ask here.
Do we know for a fact that Ocean didn't dub episodes 54-107? Maybe they did dub them but never got around to airing them. And second, if they didn't dub those episodes, why? Episode 108 starts off like any other episode, without a special recap or something to explain the big skip. Did they just not have the rights to those episodes?
