They better learn from their mistakes and make a much better, global DBO2.

Sad to see DBO go. Even tho I never played it, I did enjoy reading the backstory stuff like year 801, the time patrol, Towa and Miira, Buu theme park, Gohan publishing a book, the various martial arts schools that popped up...it was nice.

Man, this was one of the only cool looking Dragon Ball games we had these days.

Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
The end isn't in sight quite yet for the Taiwanese and Hong Kong versions(even though it is safe to assume the obvious). It is really easy to create an account for both versions so I suggest anyone that was slightly interested give it a shot for a couple of levels. It isn't an amazing game or anything but it is an interesting experiment for the franchise that will be gone for good.
And yeah, I'm not really surprised. Since they probably don't have time to wrap up the whole story I wonder if they will at least do the usual MMO ending where the evil group attacks the main cities full force for no reason. If this is the end then I do hope they reuse this stuff someday. I don't want to see the back story, main villainess, and the rest go into the forgotten pile with Kurilien and Ozotto. Maybe Heroes will run out of characters...

Was really hoping wed get more information on that one woman (forget the name, shes your avatar) and see if she was actually a Makaioshin. I mean I think she is, similar design and everything.

And according to Herm's brief translation of some of the Chozenshu 4 information, the similar design to the Kaioshin is meaningless. Wvil Shinjin go to Makai to be with them, but don't become Makaio or Makaioshin. :/
Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
The game had so many nice characters too. Towa, Bardock in a mask (?), that other Blue-skinned guy with white hair.

This is really sad news. I hope that the Taiwan & Honk Kong versions won't suffer the same fate...

Wait, when did Herms translated Chozenshuu 4 info!?TheDevilsCorpse wrote:And according to Herm's brief translation of some of the Chozenshu 4 information

He flipped through the book when he got it and posted some things he noticed as tweets over on Twitter. But there weren't a lot and most of them aren't groundbreaking.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Wait, when did Herms translated Chozenshuu 4 info!?

When asked if the Hong Kong version of DBO would be shut down next, the person managing the Facebook account said no, the Korean version is irrelevant to them.
So, DBO's other releases will be continuing on for at least a while longer. There still haven't been any major updates to the story in almost a year, which is a big problem no matter how you look at it.

Well, the Taiwan & Honk Kong versions were following the Korea version, so now that the Korea version will shut down, maybe they will follow their own pace.
Also, wasn't this game going to be released in China as well?

Come to think of it, did the game ever even make it's way into Japan officially?

Korea - Shutting downGyt Kaliba wrote:Come to think of it, did the game ever even make it's way into Japan officially?
Taiwan - Game Guard doesn't seem to be stopping hacking tools (meaning they probably aren't paying for it anymore), so maybe closing soon
Hong Kong - Said not to be closing down, but we'll see
China - Was due for beta, never went live.
Everywhere else - Never got a thing.

Thanks for the break down. It's hard to believe it never even made it to Japan for some reason, given that...well, that's where Dragon Ball's from. It's just weird to me for some reason. I can't help but wonder how well it would have done there if it had been ported back to them.

Maybe they're simply not big on MMORPGs, which.. I don't think they are. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong though.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Thanks for the break down. You could be right. I don't even know an actual statistic for how popular MMO's are anywhere, other than knowing they do pretty well here in the US, and in Korea at least.DNA wrote:Maybe they're simply not big on MMORPGs, which.. The sad thing is, if it never makes it to Japan, it will be forgotten, since none of the guidebooks made any reference to it...

Re: Dragon Ball Online Discussion
If it actually fails without an ending, rushed or not, maybe they'll re-purpose it towards a future spin-off manga or new animated material, series or movie. Perhaps combine DBO and Heroes into a new property, one where they can utilize the avatars and potential what-ifs by distorting the timeline.
