Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Hmm...I know Toriyama has said that he went with red because he felt it was a more powerful color than the previous yellow, but...the weird aqua green burst of energy makes me wonder if Super Saiyan God wouldn't look better if it was simply an inverse of the normal - golden yellow eyes, and the hair and energy turns into an aqua green coloring. Maybe keep the user's natural hair-style rather than the Super Saiyan hairstyle like the form actually does though. Just some food for thought.

Looking at the pic, maybe the idea is better in my head than it would be in execution then. ^_^; Still gotta wonder why the aqua green power burst when his hair and energy ends up red though, but I'm probably looking too deep into this. They probably just thought it looked cool.

It would be cool if the Super Saiyan God was like Naruto's Tailed Beast Form.

They posted a version of the video someone else was hosting on their Youtube, even though it was already available for viewing on the original account. The one that should be getting views.dbzfan7 wrote:Someone posted this earlier. Out of curiosity Kaiser, what would that top five be? I'm placing a bet that Freeza's at #1 or #2.
I agree though, Beers is definitely great based on all we've gotten of him so far. He's got a great personality, and Whis works well as the straight man to his antics it seems.

Fair enough, but for all extensive purposes, he'd be listed as a villain before he would be a hero. He's still the antagonist to Goku as the protagonist.Dr. Machismo wrote:Bills isn't a villain. He just does his job

First, to be on topic: Whis works as a fantastic straight man because he still has his own eccentricities, but they're more quirky and subtle, whilst his overall demeanor is composed and regal. Meanwhile, Beers seems to just switch from being totally laughable and childish to being dead serious and utterly dangerous. It's fantastic.
As for my Top 5... In no particular order: King Piccolo, Vegeta, Freeza, Beers, and perhaps Fat Boo or Cell.

You're right. I think that's what I like about him the most thus far is how he turns on a dime. The new clip where he's bickering with Boo showcases it really well. That and his little whistle as he walks away after taking Goku down effortlessly.
Interesting, I'm still holding out on where Beers would be until I can see the entire film, but as of now I'd say mine are probably...Ninja Murasaki (I forget his original name at the moment), General Blue, King Piccolo, Freeza, and Kid Boo.

Oh, I just love Birus more and more everytime I see more about him! He can be such a cool and hilarious guy, and then suddenly he becomes that terrifying death machine.
He's somehow very nice and quite friendly most of the time, but just don't overtly disrespect him like Boo does!
Those goofy moments are just among the best. The way he wakes up being still goofy-sleepy...
And the fight with Boo over the cakes, especially that terrified face and scream he does when he sees that Boo swallows the whole thing... It's just priceless!!
And Super Saiyan God Goku looks even more stylish than I imagined with all those pictures.
It just takes Goku's regular design and takes it to a whole new level of cool.

Beers seems fun. X3 I really enjoyed this spoilerific movie brief. Also Goku awkwardly trying to sound polite in front of Beers and that tacked-on desu at the end. XD
Did feel bad for Beers the way Buu was overly-rude to him about not wanting to share his easily 10 or 15 pudding cups with Beers. Poor giant kitty.
You really can tell the different atmosphere from these clips compared to the other Z movies. That Buu scene along with the waking Beers up and the wonderfully absurd-in-the-best-way Kaio driving his car around his tiny planet while doing his exposition does feel Toriyama-involved.
The CGI is just kinda there the way it is in Toei's other animated movies. Feels more like it's just there to save on budget. ^^; I like the far away shot of Kaio driving his car around the planet, but it doesn't need to be in CGI.
I really appreciate that this clip is in 720 because you get to see what the actual colors of everything are. For a while I thought the DB Heroes cards went with magenta hair for ssjg Goku because that's just what they went with (because all the lower quality screenshots showed it red) where as here it really is magenta, and only looks red when he activates that flame aura.
Also, about blue flames; blue's the hottest visible flame color, so that could be a reason why it's blue and not red.
This footage seems zoomed in now that I double check the ones that appear in the trailer; not a bad way to spoiler while still keeping some things hidden.

Huh, didn't think of that. That could be it maybe.Chuquita wrote:Also, about blue flames; blue's the hottest visible flame color, so that could be a reason why it's blue and not red.
I noticed that too, though thankfully it looked like they only did that to some of the stuff we'd already seen, so far as I could tell. This footage seems zoomed in now that I double check the ones that appear in the trailer; not a bad way to spoiler while still keeping some things hidden.

Deciding to blow up a planet only because Boo angered him is not his job. Even when it's for other reasons, I wouldn't call it a job neither -- he doesn't get paid or anyhow rewarded for what he does. Destruction is what he's made to do. A hobby, if you will.Dr. Machismo wrote:Bills isn't a villain. He just does his job

Yamadera's performance here is just as good as Nakao, Wakamoto, and Aono Takeshi were back in their primes. The deliveries really come off as carefully planned. Beers feels like he was a villain from the comic being brought to life by Yamadera in 1996.

Buu deserves a beat down for that kind of behavior. He got it a little too easy..

He is literally a God of Destruction. As Hakaishin, it is his job to destroy what the Kaioshin create, so that the universe remains in balance. What he destroys is up to him though, so even though taking out his rage at Buu on the Earth would be a dick move, he's fully entitled to it as part of his placement opposite the Kaioshin in the hierarchy.hleV wrote:Deciding to blow up a planet only because Boo angered him is not his job.
