Part of me wonders if it is Cox, though...the thing that keeps throwing me for a loop is that Kirbopher said it would be somebody we didn't expect, and that our initial reaction would be one of surprise. I could see Juliani doing Goku, but I keep second-guessing myself because of the "someone we won't expect" aspect.
A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Since whoever is in charge of dubbing is apparently trying to make it as close to the Japanese version as possible, another interesting and possible choice could be Sarah Strange, the original English voice for Ranma Saotome from Ranma 1/2. Hey it wouldn't be the weirdest English dub cast choice.

As for Richard Cox, the only voice I could see him doing is #17 after hearing the Wikipedia rumor while back. I hope it's true, he's done an excellent job of playing the arrogant, smug teenage-type before and would do a much better job than Ted Cole's lethargic Chuck Huber impersonation.

And speaking of the Wikipedia rumor, I'm hoping Kirby Morrow and Samuel Vincent voicing Future Trunks and Kuririn are true as well. Future Trunks is undeniably in need of a recast and people have been saying for years how Morrow should've been cast and Kuririn is pretty much the same type of character Sam's been voicing for years. They'd be match made in heaven.

Actually, it is interesting watching the Rock the Dragon set, going back to the dub of old, is that the actors actually pronounce Goku like the Japanese. It was kind of strange as I don't necessarily remember that. However, I did notice that the Japanese pronunciation dropped off a bit going into the fight with Nappa.
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Whoever did Trunks for the Westwood dub seems like he could make a good Trunks but there was something really awkward with the way he spoke, I don't know if it was because of direction or something else but something just sounded off. As I've said before I'm hoping for Cole Howard as Trunks.

Kelamis is up for voicing Goku? What are they waiting for then?

But if everyone's being recast, I wouldn't mind there being a new Goku voice actor

He seems so saddened by this, it breaks my heart. Shame really, I would give anything to hear him deliver that fantastic 'kaioken' scream all over again.

Perhaps this is an elaborate ruse!

Update:

Not really sure what to make of that?
Would have been awesome to hear an improved Kelamis. Oh well.

With Ocean Frieza possibly sounding like a British Mark Hamil, maybe he'll be sounding like this?

He was saying that even though he hasn't done any work for Kai at all, he'd be looking forward to doing it. You confused him when you said he was breaking your heart as he thought him saying that he'd be up to work on Kai with his friends would be encouraging.

Even though he wasn't that good in the Westwood dub it would still be really interesting to see Kelamis return as Goku. It might actually make me somewhat optimistic for this dub. I'd much rather him than some unknown that turned out to be terrible. You don't think he was sort of throwing us a hint when he said "stranger things have happened"? It just strikes me as weird that they wouldn't even contact him for this dub to re-audition like they did with Morrow.

I was expecting like this actually, maybe a bit less like Ayres though.

This is the reason I think that it is Juliani. If you were to ask me who do I think would most likely be cast as Goku out of the two, I would go with Cox because of what he has done in the past. Cox being Goku wouldn't be that big of a surprise, Juliani on the other hand it's really someone that jumps to mind when considering past roles. Though part of me does want it to be Juliani just to see his take on the character.

Y'know, ironically, I guess this means that now Goku's voice actor won't be an unexpected choice because we were told that it would be an unexpected choice and therefore the unexpected choices will be among the expected choices. Also, try to say that five times fast.

Peter could be back and just can't say "Hiya, I'm voicing Son Goku in the Ocean Studios production of Dragon Ball Z Kai!" I don't know why I just like Sean better, yes we know about the dead zone and Kaioken but it wasn't enough of a performance.
The fact he said Mcneil and Drummond are buddies of his there is no way he didn't know about the dub.

Speaking of Kelamis, maybe if he did come back he'd use a voice similar to his Rolf. It is closer to Nozawa's performance afterall

Ok, Ed, Edd n Eddy dialog with DBZ is amazing (as is that Peter Kelamis went on to do Rolf)...but in my mind, I picture more of Goku being voiced by Ed. Seems appropriate, lol.

If that happened, some folks would make jokes on Goku with video games and giant robots. (Matt Hill was also Captain N and Kira Yamato from Gundam Seed).

Richard Ian Cox had an AMA recently and I asked if he knew anything about the Kai Ocean dub. He says says he doesn't know anything about it, but he may be lying due to an NDA. Follow the link and scroll down until you get to the arrow, click it, and scroll some more and you'll eventually find my question. Ctrl+Fing "Kai" should help.
