No, hardcore fans would be the ones to actually bother with what we got as Kai.Piccolo Daimaoh wrote:Only overly expectant hardcore fans have this problem. There was no way there were going to remake as series as long as DBZ, even without filler, when they could just edit existing material to make it different enough to be marketable.Dr. Machismo wrote:Definitely. The biggest turnoff for me (and many people from what I've observed) is that the artwork and animation was mostly unchanged. It felt too much like you're watching the original Z all over again ... and why bother with a show you've already seen? Using artwork and animation like in the show's intro, eycatchers and credits would have been a much better and smarter idea (it's a major tease how there's new animation and artwork everywhere except in the actual show). It probably would have increased ratings in Japan too.
Do you think Z Kai should have had new artwork and animation

Kai's animation seems a bit rushed, there are some scenes that made me think "wow that actually looks like new animation" but then there are parts that look blurry or like something someone made in MS Paint. Though I blame the brighter colors for that. Kai's reused animation would have been great if they put more time and effort in.

Kai's animation was a huge let-down for me, as I've been DB fan over 15 years.
DBZ's budget restrictions were understandable as it was in the 90's. But even then, Cell Arc & Buu Arc offered some of the best animations of its time.
Kai's huge hype with Latest digital rendered animation used in the intro, outro & eye-catches but rendering the same traditional-animation frm DBZ forms such a contrasting visual experience.
Kai definetly required new artwork/animation.
