I think we might hear about another movie by sometime later this year or early next year. I hope Toei will do something special for the 30th anniversary of the series.

Do you think they'd push a film adaptation of Jaco?

I can see Jaco being turn into a OVA or TV series, but not a movie. I would like to see a movie that takes place before Birus return in three years from now. For the 30th anniversary, maybe they can do some time travel plot with Goku meeting his younger self. Or they can do something similar to Let's Go Kamen Riders where they mess up the timeline where the RR Army has taken over the world. It might seem impossible given that Radditz would kill the whole RR Army, but I think they can make it work.

OVAs still happen at a good rate, I think. I know Oreimo just released a second set of them for it's second season.

Original Video Animations have become less frequent in recent years because adult-aimed works now air at the late hours of the night. OVAs were originally created because adults would buy two-to-eight episodes on home video for about $60-100 for two episodes. Now that late-night animation is popular among Otaku a one cour series can sell nine home video volumes for the same price, essentially providing a better deal for all parties involved. In the case of OreImou the OVAs are done as an extra incentive for viewers. Not to mention the ending of the story in this case is pretty messed up.

I'm not too sure how well a Dragon Ball OVA would do. Toei Animation rarely partakes in artistic-driven works. Toei essentially prefers to do a long-running series to serve as a continuing marketing scheme. An OVA would be a very small, very specifically-aimed work. Single episode or series, Toei would have to place quite a bit of thought into the production.

Birus, Whis and Super Saiyan God Goku are all already in Dragon Ball Heroes. Both Birus and Super Saiyan God Goku are already in Zenkai Battle Royale too, and will be featured in the upcoming console game, Battle of Z.
