Any games worth buying?

Post by Bardo117 » Mon Sep 09, 2013 12:51 am

I've been out of the Dragon Ball game universe for a while now, last game I got was Raging Blast 2. Now that I check, Budokai Tenkaichi is back, and Budokai 3 was re-released, and this new Battle Of Z looks interesting lol.

Which one should I try?

The only game you may have missed out on that's worth your attention was the Japanese-only Ultimate Butōden on the Nintendo DS.

Stay tuned for Battle of Z since the jury's still out on that one (it... not being out yet, of course!). If you were a super huge Budokai 3 fan and don't mind the entire musical score being ripped out of it, by all means, pick up the HD Collection on the cheap and get some kicks out of it.

Personally? I don't think there's any need to bother with anything else... what little else there's been. It was all just spin-offs and re-hashes of what you last played.

If you have a DS, yeah Ultimate Butouden is a good choice, but also give Attack of the Saiyans a shot.

You sir have good taste. And I'm pretty sure the Budokai HD Collection is pretty cheap these days.

I might be alone in this recommendation, but Dragon Ball GT Transformation is a solid beat-em-up. I had heard terrible things about it but I wanted a GT game since the only other one I have is Final Bout and I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun Transformation is.

I like the look of "Attack of the Saiyans" myself however finding a reasonably priced one is quite hard tbh... I really love Buu's fury I've replayed it countless times in the years I've owned it - definitely worth checking it out :)

Legacy of Goku II
Infinite World
Tenkaichi 3
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

A lot of you are suggesting great games, but they're all games that came out well before Raging Blast 2, the game the original poster said he last played.

I'd likewise recommend both Attack of the Saiyans if you don't mind the story being dragged out in exchange for an awesome and surprisingly deep RPG battle system, and Ultimate Butouden if all the customization, rich fighting system, and PLAYABLE KAIO-SAMA, MUTHA-EFFAS is worth the steep price to import a copy.

If you haven't played Jump Ultimate Stars yet I recommend that one.

Any games after RB2? Hmm none that are worth playing really, maybe the Budokai HD Collection?
Battle of Z hasn't released it, but it looks promising.

In terms of the PS2 I think the Budokai 1 & 3 were really good. (I didn't like the board game set up they had with Budokai 2) Also I thought the Tenkaichi Budokai games were quite good too. One character I wish they would bring back in King Piccolo and Kid Goku they have sort of lost that idea in the newer games.

I also recommend Attack of the Saiyans, it's OOP, but you can still find it relatively cheap at most second-hand sellers (Ebay, Amazon, GameStop.) Budokai HD Collection isn't a bad choice if you want to re-visit the game after roughly a decade, but yeah, YMMV on the music replacement.

I really want Utimate Butoden, but I'm waiting to see if any copies online go for less than $50 before I plunk down the cash.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

If you have a DS Lite or GBA then pick up DB Advanced Adventure & DBZ Supersonic Warriors for it, I'm sure you'd most enjoy it.

Budokai HD Collection is all right but in case you own a PS2 or PS3 60GB/80GB then just pick up the originals as you'll get the complete package rather than a crappy replacement.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

The only ones that I could recommend are worth buying is the Budokai HD Collection for the PS3/XBOX 360 and the Tenkaichi Budokai (PS2) games. Of course, these are just the games that I have played thus far that I thought were the best.
