What makes Vegeta such an appealing father?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Because they were informed that the Namekian race is peaceful by nature.
Yeah but it's been a while since contact with them.. anything could have happened and affected there mentality towards alien life forms coming to their planet..

I'm just saying i wouldn't let a kid of mine go into space where you don't know what's out there... but for the most part I prefer Goku as the better father anyway..

That's a terrible reason to think Goku is a bad father lol. Goku had to keep his shit straight and calm to handle what was going down with Buu. If Goku had seen Gohan die with his eyes as it was happening like with Krillin, he'd be more likely to be mad.

Gohan isn't like any other kid. He was extremely powerful and matured thanks to Piccolo who spent nearly a year with. How could you tell Gohan to stay when he could be helping someone who was like a father to him? Chi-Chi was the only one who opposed to Gohan going to Namek btw

Yeah fair point - I don't think that makes him a bad dad either that's just the only thing I could possibly think of that could go against him but yeah, fair point.
And yeah it would of been no good him crying over it.. It's not so bad anyway he was gonna hook up with him in otherworld if he was dead anyway and it could of been rectified by new Namek if necessary

Oh and another reason why people believe Goku is a bad parent is because Toriyama branded Goku unqualified as a father.

Goku was called a bad parent LONG before Toriyama said that and some people don't know about the interview.

Another thing I noticed is Bardock was a terrible father, but he gets a free pass for it.

Although I guess its because some people only go off the dub of the film.

Yeah that's a fair point.. But I think the difference for him though is that that bond is very small between most of the Saiyan warriors that get deployed all over the place.. And he didn't get much of a chance to be a father to Goku.. They've got that bond in a way by the fact that they both took a stand against Frieza..

He is pretty much a bad guy though, nobody expects otherwise.

Vegeta was a good Father in my opinion. He has a lot of pride and acts distant to most people so it's hard to tell, but he let Trunks train with him, then took time out of his training and took Trunks to the park. It showed he'd apparently put his training aside for an hour or two to make his son happy, and we all know how important Vegeta training is to him.

He doesn't like to show it, but he loves his family a lot more than he gives off.
