I really, really, really wanted to enjoy this movie much more than I did, but I felt that it lacked the impact of the Jump Special and what made the past DBZ movies enjoyable.

I guess this movie is not for those who strongly love old DBZ movies, which lack Toriyama-esque humors and real stories. It's much closer to the flavor of the original manga, especially before the Z era. They shouldn't have named this Dragon Ball "Z" after all.

IMO, the JSAT special is far from something enjoyable after watching BoG. It was fun at the time purely because it was the first Dragon Ball anime in over a decade, and now it's almost garbage if you take a dispassionate look at it.

I disagree with this a bit. I really like BoG. Like, I thought it was really good. But I still like the BoG special because it's a bit silly and everything. BoG and the JSAT special are great. They're both good in their own way.

Also: Gohan does NOT turn Super Saiyan. While that WAS a mistake in production, they fixed it.

Well, he still does during the Super Saiyan God ritual, but I personally take it official conformation that Gohan can still go Super Saiyan instead of unleashing the Ultimate power.

Y'know, that never bothered me. I beliieeve it's never actually said he CAN'T go SSJ, only that it wouldn't HELP.

Him going SSJ there seemed to just be keeping in line with what everyone else was doing in the scene. But I guess it might actually be an error?

Turning SS can have a certain effect on someone that's required for the ritual. Old Kai did say that going SS causes more strain i think

I just assume that Gohan's powers work like they do in Budokai 3. He can go SSJ, but Ultimate would be his preferred state.

The inconsistencies bug me too. How was going barely able to keep up with Bills at SSJG, but able to keep up in the best action scene of the movie as SSJ1 when he got wrecked earlier on as a SSJ3 that did worse than Vegeta at SSJ2 that somehow did better than Gohan (who can turn SSJ again) and Majin Buu? Why does King Kai have is planet back? *sigh* Sorry...I'm only this picky because this is apparently considered canon. And this movie is too much a cluster **** for me to see at as so. If it wasnt canon I would consider it one of if not the best DB movie. I loved the feel of it actually being an anime movie. The feel of it being DBZ without forgetting that it was DB first. The animations are beautiful. I LOVED how Videl's pregnancy was announced and how even during a serious time Gohan was so happy about it. Its jus with this being canon. Its hard for me to except this

SSJ/SSJG:

Bills himself points out that Goku barely powered down at all after losing his SSJ God form because his body accounted for the difference in power. Literally, he explains why. He also says Goku, because of that, might truly be a fighting genius.

Vegeta: I've actually explained this one earlier.

2. Easily explained: In that instant, his power spiked ridiculously high because of an emotional break. It's not a huge gap in logic to believe a Super Saiyan 2 can be more powerful than a Super Saiyan 3 for a few moments if that individual lets out all of their power at once. If you'll notice, Vegeta seems to have exhausted his energy with that short attack.

I have't seen any subs and dont understand Japanese yet so if anything was explained in dialogue, I didnt understand except maybe a word or 2...maybe 3. But I saw Gohan turn SSJ in the actual movie when they were all holding hands. Thats the part I'm talking about and it confused me. The SSJ2 > SSJ3 part, ok that does make some sense. See, I think it's an error cuz of the advertisements flubs and it's not like Videl's hair went blonde cuz she had Pan inside her so everyone needing to be Super Saiyan or something else out of left field [not that Super Saiyan God in and of itself isn't lol].

I don't buy that whole tweet that the animation/movie dept and add dept don't communicate lol let alone why the animation is the EXACT same as the add minus the aura and hair being different colors . If you look at it Gohan's aura is the same swirl pattern AND his chest lights up.

SO it seems like an over sight to me that CAN be rationalized like you said.

Speaking of which....How did Videl say she was pregnant? I don't speak Japanese so I was just curious how she went about telling everyone. I don't believe she would just flat out say ''I'm pregnant'' That sounds a little odd no? might be where I'm from too...some people around here wouldn't just flat out say that because it's kinda...kinda...I don't know how to explain it hahahaha
