Budokai 2: Miscellaneous comments

Post by Thanos6 » Tue Jun 06, 2006 1:58 am

As I own a Gamecube, until Sparking Neo comes out for the Wii, this is the newest console DB game I've been able to play. Just thought I'd get some more discussion restarted on it, so as not to necro-post.

The Dragon World mode had a lot of possibility. They really should have taken the "make your own story" idea and ran with it, so things changed dramatically each time depending on who you beat with who.

The made-up fusions are fun. I just unlocked Tiencha/Yamhan tonight and he's great fun, if a bit underpowered for a fusion. They needed one ultra-powerful move...say, some kind of merger of the Sokidan and the Kikoho?

This'll sound like a dumb question, but only because it is. My question, "What is a Wii?" I know it is the next generation console, and I've probably heard of it, but I can't seem to recall what it is.

Speaking of Budokai 2, I haven't placed that game for quite awhile. If I remember correctly the Story Mode resembles a game board, right?

It's the next Nintendo (being a Nintendo fanboy, I always buy their consoles).

And yeah, that was the one with the "board game" story mode.

Comments of Budokai 2? I love Budokai 2. I'm probably the only person to say this, but it has a great story mode. :P

The graphics are a nice touch as well. :)
I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

Next to me, that is.
Battle High 2, starring Kyle Hebert as well as myself, has been released on Xbox 360, OUYA, PC, Linux, Mac, and Xbox One!

I do like B2's story mode.

I just didn't like being made to play it over, and over, and over, and over, and over.... to unlock everything/get all the Dragonballs/play as Vegetto vs Gohan-Buu.

Would've been better if you could skip to a certain stage after you complete it the first time.

I wish they kept the 3D animation, I don't care for cel-shaded things.

I have to agree with BrollysKin, about the 3D part. I found Budokai 1 to be more enjoyable because I loved the 3D Animation something Budokai 2 & 3 lacked. I blame the 2D cel-shades on my losing interest in the Budokai series.

By the way, I knew the Wii is the next Nintendo console, but what does "Wii" stand for?

It means "Wii will rock you." :P

Or "Wii are the champions, my friend."

Take your pick.

It used to be "Nintendo Revolution" until a couple of months ago.

Too bad; the original name was really cool. :(

Stop putting yourself down - when you do it all the time it gets annoying. Fast. Besides, there's so such thing as a stupid question.

The Nintendo Wii is the Nintendo Revolution; Nintendo just changed the name. Actually, if you want to be absolutely correct on the matter, "Nintendo Revolution" was just the code name of the game before they chose the official name, which is what they did with the Nintendo Dolphin. Never heard of it before? Nintendo Dolphin is the GameCube. :P If you look on the bottom of the GameCube, there's a code that'll say "Dol###" with some numbers, which I guess is the serial code.

"Wii" stands for "We", it's Nintendo's way of expanding interest & involvement in video games to those whom have no interest in video games at all while keeping hardcore gamers satisfied. The "Wii" Console is their attempt at that.

I also liked Dragon Ball Z 2's story mode as well for its inventive ideas.

Just an FYI that was the first time I put myself down and it was as a joke. So, unless it got annoying from the reader over reading it, all I can say is read it once, not more.

Anyway, thanks for clearing up/explaining the whole Nintendo deal, Veshira, The Tori-bot, and Sebastian (SB).

I wasn't annoyed at all, but now I am a little hurt. :? I was merely saying you shouldn't put yourself down, and that it gets annoying fast. I didn't say you were annoying me because you put yourself down, or that you have been doing it. Sorry if you took it the wrong way, but I'm not going to apologize for trying to be nice.

But to get back on topic, I would have liked to have a DBZ game on a Nintendo console, though usually what happens is my brother gets it for PS2 because it comes out on PS2 first. That's what happened with Budokai 2, and that's probably what's going to happen this time around, especially because that would mean I'd have to buy a Wii, and then wait until Fall.

I can see where you were trying to help by telling me there is no such thing as a dumb question, for in reality there is not, but the way you worded it made me think there was more meaning to it. Thus, I cannot apologize for misinterpreting it since it wasn't exactly worded properly. Anyway, I think we are both old enough to just let this go, so back onto the topic at hand ...

Budokai 2, I must admit, had a great beginning video, and I liked the voices; however, I think if they went the 3D route it would've made the game that much more enjoyable.

That and they forgot about the cutscenes.

Well, there is also DBZ Sagas for the Gamecube. Though, if you live outside of North American, you'll need to go through some hassle in order to play it. While quite the number of others may say don't get it, I say get it. The story mode's pretty fun, especially if playing with a friend. Only Gamecube game with Bardock and Broly playable, not to mention the only main-console game that has the History of Trunks special playable.

Anyway, getting off topic ... Budokai 2! It was a fun game during its time, but after a game like Budokai 3 is released, you look at Budokai 2 only curious to play again for the what-if fusions or stretching story mode. I just wish Teen Gohan would've been playable in Dragon World, he was the best friggin' fighter in that game. But oh well, Dragon World was pretty fun the first couple times playing it, and certain fun parts of it had me thinking maybe Toriyama had something to do with its development.

But till that Wii is released; Budokai, Budokai 2, and Sagas are the only Gamecube DBZ games on shelves. Budokai 2 and Sagas basically being the closest games the Gamecubers will get to Budokai 3, sadly. But what the hell, they're fun games, IMO.

Budokai 2 was fun, too bad Budokai 3 improved on so much but killed the What-If fusions and had the Dragon Rush system (which was a con, in my opinion, since you couldn't turn it off).

Budokai 2 is probebly the only game thats kept my PS2 alive the past few months (aside from BT). Yes, I don't have B3 yet. Pbbt.

I just wish there was more of an incentive to play the story over, aside from unlocking stuff.
