Early fanart. Golden ssj4 as ssjg was a popular fan-theory early on (even the one I designed prior to learning what ssjg actually looked like--while he didn't have the fur, definitely had hair kinda like that).

The original official version of ssjg prior to Toriyama's rewrite of Watanabe's script was supposed to be super-bulky, have golden hair in-between ssj3 and ssj4, and wear a cape or cloak.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Closest thing I could find to the original design, minus the cloak, would be Rocio-mb's fan concept that he did on devinatart.

Birus looked like a small line flying through them. I have no idea how big or small the planets were that he destroyed.
Probably the size of Pluto, damn impressive still though.

*Remembers she actually did draw a sketch of Watanabe's ssjg Goku*.
Bottom left hand corner; the words cloak and cape were floating about, I went with cloak.

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of the movie. It's ok and theres nothing really wrong with it but it just seemed a little lacking to me. But I really hope they do make some more movies or another series really soon. And I'm hoping that stuff at the end was hints towards it. And it would make since, since it would be a little odd if nothing was to come of Bils whole "oh btw that guy is stronger than me and hey guess what theres a multiverse". I mean really it just seemed so weird that they threw that in at the end of the movie.

It's pretty cool how despite physically losing the battle, Goku still won another way. Even Birusu's bluster afterwards where he's saying how he'll just have to destroy Earth next time comes across as good-natured ribbing, though it could be somewhat true, too. But considering we later learn that Birusu didn't use his full power, he probably could have destroyed Earth if he really wanted to, so it was Goku's charm that won out.

I kind of like that characters that can easily destroy planets also have desires like eating good food and they don't like getting out of bed, either. Birusu is an interesting character with more eccentricities and color than the other DBZ movie villains.

I love that the SSG form is eventually absorbed into the body, even if it does seem like an excuse to stop using effects for SSG.

But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Could be bigger or smaller as we don't really have anything to compare the size of Birus's castle to.

From what I've read online, those who really loved it are the ones who are big fans of the original Dragon Ball and the more comedic side of Dragon Ball Z. Those who disliked it were expecting a full length action extravaganza, which makes sense too. Personally, the movie made me feel like a kid/teen again. I understand why some might have thought the film was lacking. But, I'm glad that it appealed to me personally.

I can certainly see power discrepancies though  . I watched the Vegeta vs Beers fight entirety and I must say it seems he was able to maintain that kind of power for an abnormally long time. I also don't know why he able to tank a punch from Beers when Gohan was one shot. I mean I guess his guard could been down but still, I don't know why he would suppress himself further after taking down Gohan... I have to say, it seems like Goku can turn into the actual God form of his own free will. That would be cool since I love that aura and SSJ God's overall design. Man I'm geeking out right now  .
That doesn't make sense right? Why would he use a lower power output for Vegeta? Especially after seeing is punch did nothing.

Why?
Pluto is pretty freakin small and insignificant.

It's pretty inconstant but hey, what are you gonna do. They had SSJ Gohan in mind when they made this, it's not like they could go back through and reanimate it to make Gohan seem stronger.

The fans pretty much called out Toei on the whole Gohan SSJ thing with the first trailers and promos, so they went back and edited it, at least thats what I heard.

J. fans hated Gohan as the hero. As another wingman, sure, but not the hero. When Toriyama tried to put him in charge they revolted, so he wound up being rather pussified to ensure he wasn't the top dog any longer.

Gods wear this kind of cloack when shown in the anime, so I imagine that's what God Goku originally had:

That's what I assumed. Vegeta has been training non-stop (he's even introduced with a training sequence) while Gohan has been focusing his energies on academia and Videl. I feel like Dragonball has made it clear time and time again that hard work and dedication can yield great results that rival the inherent talents of those who have gotten lazy and rested upon their laurels (Tao Pai Pai, Vegeta, frieza). That's why I didn't love the whole Super Saiyan God mode. It seemed very much like an increase in power that required no persistence or actual training what so ever. Even fusions relied on the strength of those involved and only yielded a being who had the combined strength of those why combined. I realize Goku addresses this in the film, but the form still exists and they can whip it out whenever they are in a future pinch.
