Gohan was drunk and he saves all his real energy for Videl, if you know what I mean.

There should be an explanation about popularity polls and Gohan somewhere in here:Gonstead wrote:Do we know that for sure, though?GS7X7 wrote:mAcChaos wrote:maybe gohan just got weaker over the years after slacking off again
J. fans hated Gohan as the hero. As another wingman, sure, but not the hero. When Toriyama tried to put him in charge they revolted, so he wound up being rather pussified to ensure he wasn't the top dog any longer.

I must say, that I'm gratefull to the team behind BoG, as I'm not much of a fan of these miraculous clothes appearing.JeffJarrett wrote:Gods wear this kind of cloack when shown in the anime, so I imagine that's what God Goku originally had:
My favorite appearance of fusion is the Potara one, as it kinda makes sense.
Also, there is one thing I didn't liked about the movie. That cameo with the police officer. It was so bad acted, that it stood out really weird.

Just watched the movie. I gotta say, I loved it. Beautiful animation (colors were so vibrant in hd), I liked most of the cgi in the fight scenes... it didn't look that bad to me. I thought they did a good job. There were great character interactions too and above all else... Bills is probably one of the best Dragonball characters ever created. He is just so interesting and funny, I would love to see more of him. I do see what people were saying about the power levels not making much sense. I get that Vegeta could possibly get a burst of power, but a burst that was even greater then SSJ3 Goku? I can only assume that at the time Bills was literally putting out like 5% of his strength to deal with them. It seems he rarely has to put out any real effort, so maybe he wasn't expecting much. With Goku at SSJ3, he was hoping for something like SSJ God.
I like how it expands the DB universe(s) and their own power. Goku was able to absorb SSJ God into his own being and give himself a huge power-up. (or so it seems?) It doesn't seem he can control that power yet since he randomly enters the "god form" again. I like that it leaves the door open for Vegeta too so he can keep up since any of the saiyans can technically achieve the form. I also liked how Goku was never satisfied that he had to sort of "cheat" to obtain the form. It's cool that he technically lost, but impressed him so much so that he didn't destroy Earth. I just love Bills so much! haha. He's not so bad, afterall. The one thing I disliked about the movie was "how" he becomes SSJ God. Hand holding mumbo jumbo with unborn babies... haha, but it doesn't bother me that much for some reason.
Overall, I thought it was definitely the best DB movie of them all. Really enjoyed how it was sort of like the Jump 08 special, but expanded on with a better villain. I hope they make another or even a direct sequel to this!!!

Just watched the movie aswell, so was Pilaf and the gang really necessary to put in the film? They didn't add anything to the story. Just seems like a waste of screen time that could have been used on someone more relevant than them.

I think he is talking about final fights, and the only final fights that Goku lost were against Kame-sennin & Tenshinhan.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Is it though...?BlackCatScott wrote:For starters, Goku didn't win. It's rare and that's why I really liked it.
He was also heavily involved in Dragon Ball Online, both in story & character designs.Hellspawn28 wrote:He was done with Dragon Ball after it ended in 1995. I don't think he did anything new with DB after the 90's other then character designs in GT and the Mecha Freeza design in Super DBZ. There was the Kanzenban which was nothing new than the new ending with Ubb.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I know this is random, but did anyone else notice (or hear, really) the "boing-boing" sound effect when Gohan thrust his hips?

Pretty sure Pilaf and co.'s inclusion was Toriyama's idea. Wasn't it just gonna be a gang of regular thieves originally?Codarik wrote:Just watched the movie aswell, so was Pilaf and the gang really necessary to put in the film? I think it would have been better if Pilaf's gang is what angered Bils. Seems a bit weird to me that Vegeta just stopped watching Bills and then when he got angry nobody just says "hey theres more pudding right here". Though the time where he screams "Pudding!!!" was kind of funny.

Yeah, I do kinda wish that Pilaf's gang had been showcased a little more. They seem to kind of just pop up to cause a little trouble, and then we don't even see them running around in the background with the others anymore or anything. And you would have thought we'd have seen them scowling at the Dragon Balls being used since that's the whole reason they came.
Still, I loved seeing them again just because they never fail to amuse me.
I kind of like the almost-implication that they may be becoming an extended part of the 'gang' here too, even if that pretty much disavows GT right there. And I hate to admit it but, Trunks and Mai are cute together, heh.
Still, I loved seeing them again just because they never fail to amuse me.

Uh, you actually think FOX will hire big name actors like Mila Kunis for the voices if they do indeed dub this movie? That's never happening.Gyt Kaliba wrote:...As much as I don't want a new cast for the movie, I find it hard to disapprove of anything involving Mila Kunis.

Not at all. I was kidding anyway - I wouldn't want any other dub cast for this movie other than FUNi's, ideally. I was cracking wise about how much I like Kunis.Fennekin wrote:Uh, you actually think FOX will hire big name actors like Mila Kunis for the voices if they do indeed dub this movie? Fox is making a big mistake if they decide to not use Funimation's voice cast. The American fanbase would erupt in a rage.

I'd add the Canadian, Australian and UK fan base to that too. I'm sure many fans of Ocean and other dubs have become quite fond of the FUNI cast over the years. Fox wouldn't do that though. It just wouldn't make sense for them to do so. The franchise sells on its own. You don't need "Mila Kunis" to promote freken DBZ.TheMightyOzaru wrote:Fox is making a big mistake if they decide to not use Funimation's voice cast. The American fanbase would erupt in a rage.

The movie was simply fantastic. I loved that it felt more like how Dragon Ball used to be than the Z days, focusing more on the character interaction and comedy. Beerus and Whis are both great characters. And Goku and Vegeta were simply fantastic in this movie. Pilaf and the gang were pretty funny as well, though I kinda thought their scenes kind of dragged on for too long. The Goku v Beerus fight was cool, I just wished they showcased more of what the SSJ God form can really do. I actually liked the fact that Goku won by getting Beerus' respect instead of beating him completely. The animation is fantastic for the most part, though the CGI stuff needs to go. Those bits looked funky. I thought the music was alright, though I'm not completely sure the songs did anything for some of the scenes themselves. The voice cast was fantastic. So yeah. I dig it. I hope we see more films in the future.

yes, yes we have, I appreciate ocean for what the did, but when they came back they just weren't the same, if FOX do decide to Dub it, I hope they don't get a new cast of silly celebs and what not, the Funi cast will be just fine.Aoi wrote:I'd add the Canadian, Australian and UK fan base to that too.
