Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

Lines I have to add in my head/scenes I have to change, to help my viewing experience of Battle of Gods haha... nitpicky stuff, it's just how I'd prefer it to have played out. If they dub it maybe theyyy shoulllld insert a few of these in the dub haha.

King Kai (as Goku and Bills begin their fight):
King Kai: "You just wished back my planet so try not to destroy it. Again!"

Gohan (before turning SSJ to help create the SSJ God):
Goku: "But Gohan? Aren't you unable to go SSJ anymore?"
Gohan: "Well, we'll never know unless I try!"
*goes ssj*
Gohan: "Ha I guess so!"
Goku: (laughs)

Bulma & Vegeta, during SSJ God "ritual":
Bulma: "Don't you have a little brother?"
Vegeta: "He's very far away!"
Goku: "It's okay! I got it guys! ... (runs off to the side and puts the fingers to his forehead to use instant transmission)
(teleports out)
(immediately returns in same spot)
Goku: "I got him!"
Tarble: "Wh-what's going on again?!"
Vegeta: "No time to explain!"
(do ritual)
Tarble: "Whoa.. Wh-what just happened?"
(everyone continues to ignore tarble lol)

End of the movie:
Goku: "It's a good thing we were able to get your brother Vegeta! Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to attain SSJ God! He was the only other saiyan!"
Videl: "Well, actually, there WAS one other saiyan."
*Everyone looks confused*
Videl: "I wanted to wait and surprise you Gohan but..."
(scene is the same pretty much from here on out as in movie)

But... I positively -adored- the whole plot point with Pan aiding in the transformation. It was unique, it was surprising, and it's a great setup to Videl telling Gohan she's pregnant.

Seriously, I think it's one of the best plot points in the movie!

I LOVED THIS MOVIE.

Only thing is, I got the impression that the 'other Saiyan' in Videl's womb wasn't Pan.

I'm still trying to reconcile the ages here. I'm totally lost, I need help doing these calcs, and I have no idea what source to go by OTL. As a timeline guide I've always used The Dragonball wiki timeline: http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Dragon_Ball_Timeline

So first of all I was shocked that Goten and Trunks still looked to be about 7 & 8 like just after the Buu Saga. Going by the timeline, Pan was born in year 779 when Goten and Trunks were around 12 & 13. In my opinion they don't LOOK 12 & 13, but then again, if child Goku was supposed to be 12 and young Krillin was 13, then I guess it can be said that Goten and Trunks are 12 & 13 in this movie. (Although, apparently Future Trunks in History of Trunks is 14 when we first see him training with Future Gohan, so WOW Dragon World puberty makes a change in 1 year o_o)

Anyway, I suppose I can conceivably (lol) understand why Trunks/Goten look the way they do with Pan on the way.

However, then we get to the reference to Mai's age being 41. So according to the wiki Mai was born in year 730. And according to Pan being born in 779, then Mai should actually be 49 (or 48)?

I supposed Mai's birth date and age could be ignored as a proper scale of time because she is a minor character.

But then we find out it's Bulma's 38th birthday. But if Bulma was born in age 733, and Trunks was born in age 766, then Bulma would have been 33 when she had Trunks... If she is celebrating her 38th birthday, then Trunks is only 5 in this movie! (what!?)

So I calculated, if this is the year of Pan's birth (779), and Bulma was born in 733, then Bulma must actually be celebrating her 46th (or 45th) birthday.

My first thought was - Bulma's lying about her age. But then there is the discrepancy with Mai's age as well. Did they both forget/lie about their ages, or is the timeline wrong somehow? (Bulma and Mai being born later on than year 730 and year 733)

If Goku was born in year 737, then he is 42 at the time of Pan's birth. That would make Bulma and Mai younger than Goku!?

So, not sure where I was going with this... but I think those ages were a total mix up. For a while I was entertained that the Saiyan in Videl's womb wasn't Pan. There could have been much drama.

Actually, he's got a point here. It's not explicitly said; they just go SSJ because the director thought it would look cooler. Really, they should have just kept them in base form, thus avoiding the whole debate about Gohan.

Because SSJ looks cooler. Also more likely because they didn't change Gohan as he was meant to be an SSJ the whole time in the movie which would explain why Gotenks doesn't go SSJ3.

They really should have fixed that . Other than Gohan's inconsistency, the movie is incredible.

I'm a big power level enthusiast, but after spending time on the dream 9 thread I learned to just put it behind me or else I'll just get all negative on those problems instead of enjoying the movie itself. Which I did for the most part.

IMO, because base & Super Saiyan (Full Power) are the only forms that don't affect the personality of the Saiyans. Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, and Ultimate make the Saiyans more malicious, and Super Saiyan God requires righteous Saiyans. So, they all chose Super Saiyan because it's their strongest & most pure state. (The manga hints that Vegeta, Goten, and Trunks (both future & present) mastered Super Saiyan so I go by that.) Super Saiyan wasn't a requirement.
