Someone on Youtube commented that Dragon Soul was pretty much just Dan Dan Kokoro but recomposed as something new.

At first, I thought this was ridiculous, but I would entertain the thought before correcting him, so I tried replaying them back to back. I then started noticing they both had a very similar beat pattern (Dragon Soul's instrumental to Dan Dan Kokoro's vocals), so then I went into audacity and played around.

This is what I came up with.

Yeah I remember one guy complaining how the songs were too similar back in 2009. Can't say I don't agree

You could probably take any anime opening and rework it into a different one. Many anime openings and closings follow a certain pattern to the point where if something different like the Cowboy Bebop, Lucky Star and 2nd Death Note opening comes along it sticks out.

I kinda see something. Not entirely, but it's noticeable.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

It definitely has a simmilar upbeat joyfull feeling, but musically, they are completely different songs.

There's some similar note progression in parts at least. The "you're smile's all I need to see to know we'll" part always seemed to fit with the note progression like in your mix.

That was actually the first thing to hit me when I first watched Dragon Ball Kai in 2009. Figured it was intentional.

The refrain is identical melodically but transposed into a different key. I'd be amazed if it wasn't intentional.
