Do you think Namco Bandai will release a free-to-play DBZ?

Namco Bandai along with other game companies have started releasing Free-to-Play games, these type of games generally have the basic content available for free while the rest is paid.

Let's say it'd be a Budokai game, and this would be the basic pack:

Modes:
Arcade Mode
Training Mode
Online Mode

Characters:
1) Goku
2) Gohan
3) Vegeta
4) Piccolo

Stages:
1) Earth Wasteland
2) City Ruins
3) Cell Games Arena
4) Planet Namek
5) Kami's Lookout

The free-to-play model works out very well and Namco Bandai wouldn't need to spend money on making a physical edition as any profit made from this would be DLC content.

Namco Bandai free-to-play games are as of now: Ridge Racer: Driftopia, Soul Calibur: Lost Swords, Tekken: Revolution and Ace Combat: Infinity.

Anyway, I've been playing the hell out of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Core Fighters and as it has my favourite characters unlocked (plenty of unlockable costumes) it's just as good as the full game, minus all stages/characters and story mode, I do miss the breakable stages in DoA5UCF but it's free so I can't complain.

That would be filled with ways of making microtransactions although it seems more possible Namco Bandai would aim more for a traditional fighting DBZ game than DBO (mmo).

Between the release of Battle of Z there's still time for this to happen, but I won't get my hopes up until they announce something.

You'll notice that all of Bandai Namco's console F2P games are based on IPs they own. They don't own Dragon Ball. Additionally, outside of Gundam: Battle Operation all of their console F2P games are reskins of the latest entries in that franchise. They aren't going to put out a F2P Battle of Z before Battle of Z even launches ...
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.
