Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

You could try the VIZ Manga app:

Well, I don't know about the iPad/Phone/Pod apps, but the Android app is working fine for me (in Austria). Although I had to install it by googling its name, as the Play Store's built-in search couldn't find it
Could you provide a link to this app? I'd also gladly install it (and hope it works in Poland).
In the last chapter we can see child Bulma with her parents that visit Omori island and meet Jaco, Omori and Tights. And we can see too Bulma and Son Goku first meeting at the end of the chapter
Pictures thanks @kazu4281.

At this point, I'm just waiting for the cameo and I'm not sure it's even going to be worth it.
Without the DB hype surrounding this manga, I wouldn't still be reading it. It has Toriyama's humour but that's it. The characters, the story, the environments, they're all so bland and boring. Toriyama's little post-chapter writings pretty much admit to that. It was something along the lines of 'there's no memorable characters and no dramatic story' but he seemed to excuse that because he wanted it to be 'simple'. I just can't abide that - boring is boring.
I hate to be so negative about a person whose work I greatly admire but I just don't think Jaco is of a high enough quality to be considered anything but average.
Jaco is almost over, so I recommend waiting for the volume to come out. Hopefully one will be published in English, but there will definitely be a Japanese volume that you can import.
EDIT: Well, I guess you'd have to import the English vol as well. Anyway, my point is that I think you should just wait at this point and keep your eyes out for print editions.
JeffJarrett wrote:As expected, Jaco isn't really related to DB. A few cameo at the end don't just justify this manga being advertised as a prequel to Dragon Ball.
It was never specifically advertised as a prequel to Dragon Ball. That was all fans drawing what connections they could and inferring what they could. The most direct statement we've gotten so far was:
Shueisha wrote:The shocking revival of “Dragon Ball”! In celebration of the 45th anniversary, the superstar returns!
I'm not saying THEY didn't say there wasn't a connection, but to be fair, they didn't say "this is a prequel to Dragon Ball".

^ May want to have a little warning for those who would rather wait to see the last chapter.
But yes, that's a nice little ending. I would have preferred it to have been kept a secret so it would have been a nice surprise but hey, it is what it is.
EDIT: As in, kept a secret by the publisher. We all knew this was coming.
*Wants to draw child Gokû in his saiyajin armor now.* Actually, I guess this marks Kakarrotto's first manga appearance. So Gokû had Raditz-type armor after all. (No pants.)
Child Bulma looks like a handful there. X3
So Tights is her sister; I'd like to imagine she's still traveling around Dragon World on adventures of her own while continuing to wear an ever-changing number of cool hats.
As for how connected this is to DB, I'd blame the advertising on the advertisers. Same reason the trailers for BOG where misleading imo.
Does Jaco actually meet Goku? I'm wondering how this is the "revival" of Dragon Ball if it just leads into the existing manga, unless Jaco meets Goku and tells him that he will return one day, and then the story continues in a new Dragon Ball manga with the return of Jaco sometime after Battle of Gods
Man, they've barely been out half-a-year and already the Chōzenshū are outdated... ^_^;
Spoiler:
The ending looks adorable. Toddler Bulma! I should have seen the reveal about Tights being Bulma's sister coming a mile away (especially with the name pun), but I just didn't consider it.
Phooey on the people complaining that they wanted a bigger connection to Dragon Ball. People are taking Shueisha's promos too seriously. I'm glad Jaco got to be its own story with just a little easter egg at the end. I really couldn't be any happier with how this series turned out.
I am quite surprised that Tights is Bulma's older sister. I thought that she'll be her cousin. I'm also a bit confused that Goku seems to be older there and that Bulma isn't on summer break (like in the original). Oh well. Looking forward to its English release.
...Well then. Looks like the 'connection' ended up being what I thought it would be, although there are some inconsistencies that make me shake my head. Thankfully, like SaiyaJedi already said, it's a good thing I don't take that kind of stuff too super-seriously in regards to DB.
Spoiler:
Still though, the most glaring issue is that Goku...seems to already be at the age he should have been when the series started, rather than being a baby. That's a pretty big omission to make there...I love seeing him with the Saiyan armor though. But if he's already at this age...does it still mention him hitting his head at all? The way the main site update explains it kind of gives me the impression that Gohan just offers for him to stay, and 'Kakarot' just goes with it. Odd...
And as amusing as it is that Bulma has an older sister, where in the heck was she for the rest of the franchise and why was she never mentioned before?
Really can't wait to get around to reading these myself. There's enough content for a single volume to be put out, right?
