Dragon Ball Z: Chou Saiya Densetsu question

Post by GS7X7 » Thu Sep 12, 2013 2:57 pm

Alright, so the game basically forces you to make Goku die at Raditz by having your ability to grind enemies stop at level 4, (or 5) forcing you to have Goku grab Raditz and then have Piccolo launch his special attack.

I actually did try to spare Goku- I brought along a LOT of healing items, and kept attacking Raditz (Goku takes 1/2 the damage Raditz does from your attack)... eventually he fell but Goku died as well despite still having tons of hit points. One could say, "well, Raditz did a suicide attack on Goku as he died" or something.

Okay then...

This game offers a level-up trick where, if you use a Shenron? card when a Saiyan is below 10 hp, he automatically advances in level.

I thought about trying the game again and using a few of those in the fight against Raditz... eventually Goku should be able to kill Raditz himself after using the trick 1 or 2 (maybe 3) times.

Has anyone tried doing this? Or will Goku just plain ol' drop dead even after he Kamehameha's Raditz into oblivion?

The game designers must have predicted somebody would try what I did... alas, the trick stubbornly refuses to work.

Oddly enough, it works only after when Goku has grabbed Raditz but even then the levels count for nothing.

Oh well, at least I got an excuse to dl the 2012 translated version! Now you can actually make sense of what they're saying! :D No more jibberish or made-up dialogue!

An old FAQ I used had the wrong Zenkai stats... a Saiyan needs 5 or less hit points to get an auto-level up.

I was able to level up Goku in the fight to level 6. It took a LOT of saving and loading states and would have taken at least several hours to have done legimitately. However, it is important to note that a legitimate achieving of that is more than possible.

At that point Goku power level is about 1700. Raditz is 1500. However, the game still claims "Raditz is too strong" no matter even if you use a maxed-out Kamehameha. At this point it was obvious that Raditz has hacked stats- he is made to be invincible until Goku has grabbed him from behind, thus ensuing Goku's demise.

Very interesting! For a game that lets you fight SSJ Vegeta on Namek as the secret final boss, and lets you have a minor character switch bodies with Ginyu and use Ginyu's body switch attacks even on Freeza, it seems odd they'd force you to have Goku die in battle.

Still a fun game! But the game designers simply won't let Raditz be killed by Goku. :(

Of course, it's possible hacking the game to give you stats of 9,999,999 might be enough to break the Raditz limit but, it'd probably result in Goku auto-dying.

The game is pretty entertaining but there are 3 things that still irk me:

-The graphics are abysmal for SFC standards
-Too many random encounters
-SSJ Goku being a palette swap.

The game entertained me as 16-bit DB card game at first, but it really isn't that good. It feels lazy and rushed.
Most of the card games from Famicon are way better in all ways (except 8-bit).

I agree. They play MUCH better. The only downside is that the Famicom games end on terrible cliffhangers, notably Gekishen Freeza.

I think I played and never finished those with Androids and Gaiden.
