I wouldn't say Version 2 is lazier, as the first one just looks like they posed a game model at an interesting angel, then added a few filters. They're both good, IMO.

Netherealm Studios also handles DLC pretty well.
It's not too late. One day, it will be.

I don't know how commissioning new art is lazier than reusing a render from the game, but okay. The character placement on the new cover makes sense outside of Broly, and Trunks who are just standing around. Goku's fighting Freeza, Cell's fighting Gohan, and Majin Vegeta is facing off against Kid Boo. What I don't like about that cover is that it assumes anyone interested in Dragon Ball would be aware of what Bills, and SSG is.

Anyways, in regards to the DLC situation, did I miss some announcement about Day 1 content or something? If it's just the preorder incentives, I don't know what all of the whining is about. Typically that stuff is given away for free on PSN/XBLA after a period of time. Publishers use it to get people to preorder the game so that retailers order more copies.
"I like the money it brings in, but Dragon Ball Heroes is the worst. That's actually the real reason I decided to start working on new material. I was afraid Bandai would make something irredeemably stupid like Super Saiyan 4 Broly." - Akira Toriyama, made up interview, 2013.

No, DLC is made for people who are willing to buy their games in bits and pieces. ALL DLC should be part of the original game, and not be an extra for extra money.
Except, you know, those PC expansion packs that DLC was meant to, and has, emulated on consoles. :lolno:

The fact that Japanese developers don't understand the purpose of DLC (they don't, you won't find any argument from me there) doesn't invalidate a system with fundamentally good intentions. Good DLC content is the worthwhile goodies that can delay otherwise finished games for significant swaths of time- say, Injustice's character additions, or Mass Effect and Elder Scrolls... well... expansion pack DLC.

Every Zelda BGM is a masterpiece to listen to, but again, Nintendo's in its own league it's not competing against Sony or Microsoft.

I'm talking about today Pop Music, J-Pop and J-Rock. Because in classical and BGM, there are really masterpieces. I also like older 80's music from Japan, but that's it.

I didn't really need much reason to not buy this game, but locking Vegetto behind a "Fuck you, pay me" wall sealed the deal.

Think you mean Capcom's DLC policy in general. I gotta say the game they didnt totally f*ck up was Dragon's Dogma. Even with the DLC at least we got good stuff with it. Multiple armor sets, usually a weapon of every type you can use, quests and not to forget the Dark Arisen expansion which was right up there with the Borderlands and Elder Scrolls expansions in terms of new content.

I really hope they continue with Dragon's Dogma. Was a great game and has the potential to become a great series.

I don't know, I don't play much Capcom games outside of SF and Resident Evil. But everytime I remember that game, I get to be pissed off....
It's still laying on the bottom of the box in the corner of my living room, since the day I bought it.

Personally it doesn't really bother me that they locked DLC in the disc because I just use the same 2 characters every time, besides Megaman in SFxT is effing useless sadly.

Knowing our luck the UK won't get the option of reversible covers as we didn't with Budokai HD or Tekken Tag Tournament 2 which both had the option in other countries and have the same publisher as this game.

The online petition for Namco Bandai and CC2 to include several missing playable characters (that were fought against in the story mode) got well over 20.000 signatures. We're getting Dragon Sage Kabuto and the shaft. And that one was actually possible and seemed to have a shot.

A petition for offline multiplayer in Battle of Z hasn't a single ice cube's chance in hell. It would be put to much better use by asking for Super Vegetto and Super Saiyan Bardock to be straight up unlocked.

SS Bardock can stay locked so I can pretend he doesn't exist because he's a New Hotness, but Vegetto is a standard character in every single game that covers his section of the show. Making him DLC is horseshit.

The entire thing is a scam, plain and simple. The thing that surprises me is that people have actually bought into it.
No DLC is not a scam...when done right. Yes there are companies that abuse this power but most will go out of their way to ensure the money is spent is worth while. And in many cases it is. For example Naughty Dog has just announced that they will be going back to make a new extended chapter for the Last of Us. They are getting every one back together(actors and such) post production to build something new for fans. Borderlands 2 did a similar thing by building 3 additional missions(one inspired by Skyrim I believe) months later. It's not always a scam, but what these guys are doing isn't exactly the right way to go about it.
We'll have to agree to disagree on that. All DLC is always scam, period. Even the upcoming TLoU content. If you have to buy a part of a game you've already bought, you're being scammed. It's just that simple to me. Going back to do more content is why I hate DLC. They shouldn't be going back to do more 'bonus' content, they should have finished the damn game before they released it. DLC is just an excuse for devs/publishers to push a game out before it's 100% ready.

I've never liked the idea of expansion packs either, but at least they're (usually) more like an upgrade to a new version of your game as opposed to simply the rest of the game you should have gotten in the first place.

And I can't see how DLC has fundamentally good intentions. The primary intention of DLC is to allow for developers/publishers to release an unfinished game and then charge you extra for the rest of the content. They can guise it as 'bonus' or 'special' content all they like, but that doesn't make it so. "Otherwise finished" is an oxymoron. The game is either finished or not. There is no inbetween. An incomplete game is incomplete, a complete game does not need DLC because there is nothing left to add.

I wouldn't say all DLC is a scam by any means. In games like SFxTK when it already exists on disc and they charge you for it yes it is a scam but with games like Tekken Tag 2 when you get DLC characters for FREE automatically over time then no that's just generosity by the makers.
