I watched it 4 times. Almost died each time of boredom.
Then why watch it if you don't like it? that's just stupid...
I really don't understand why fans are holding a grudge on this movie. It had action, comedy, and for once we get to see our favorite characters just hanging out having a good time instead of going camping and a nasty foe arrives and Goku uses a Genkai-Dama to destroy it.. sorry this movie isn't the same repetetive story that movies 3-13 all share.
Before everyone starts blowing up with negative comments, yes every movie doesn't start or end that way, but a good decent amount of them do.

Why I watched it? The first time I had no subs so I thought that might factor into my disliking of the movie. So I watched it again WITH subs and still did not like it and that was me just ignoring any plot elements so I could enjoy the movie(Meaning Goku could turn SSJ45 and I would't care) as that might make me dislike the movie. The 3rd time was me re watching Vegeta's rage moment for 55 minutes because it's my favorite part of the movie. The 4th time was a hang out with me, my GF, and our friends who like DB cause they didn't see the movie. The action of this movie SUCKED(IMO) until Goku went SSJ and Hero started playing. Actually I PRAISED the first half for being funny. UGH. I'm sick and tired of people saying that ANYONE who dislike this movie only dislike it because it's not like the other movies. That's just ignorant.
I have my reasons for not liking it and it's not that. I've seen other people complains that are NO WHERE NEAR what people been saying. So please can you think "wow this guy's opinion might be different from mine for a legit reason" rather then just blurt out ignorant false facts. BoG is what 1 hour and 15 minutes? Maybe even more. They had time to flesh out a story unlike the other movies which were barely longer than an average DBZ episode. So they had to rush to the action. Notice longer movies(DB-dbz-dbgt movies) they try to expand the plot a bit.
I didn't realize at the time that my questions would be taken by others and turned into something accusatory. I just was legitimately curious as to why you'd watch it more than once.
I don't feel like anyone should dislike something simply because it didn't live up to the hype. If something's good it's good. I like a lot of mediocre Sonic games like Sonic and the Secret Rings despite it not being up to snuff .
Vegeta: "Funny... I seem to recall Kakarot being fed the same information right before he transformed; the distinct look on your faces when he went Super Saiyan didn't exactly inspire confidence. One does not predict or calculate power like ours." Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/ThePrinceOfSaiyajins My 3DS Friend Code:

I have nothing against the fact "it didn't live up to the hype". I don't judge by hype. If that was true then I would't like HSOTD. I just don't like the movie.

I explained that. The other part is where I got a little piss not why he asked why I watched it more than once
You still haven't even told us why you don't like it. All you went into detail was how you watcehd it four times, then just flat out said you didn't like it. If you don't like that's your thing, you could at least give a reason why instead of just saying "oh I don't like it."
The plot in BoG IMO was very fleshed out, we learned who the new villains were, they went into detail about them. Right off the bat I could tell what kind of character Birus was when he was acting like a cat and being a lazy brat. We didn't have to learn about Goku and the others.

I kinda already said it A few pages back. But fine. I'll say it again after I get home from School. I'll just edit this post. Also some people just dislikes thing with no reason they just don't like it. But I'll give you my reasons.

Obviously the plot was fleshed out since it's a LONG movie. Also there was NO villains(Pilfer doesn't count) in this movie. You mis understood me. I said the OTHER movies didn't have a flesh out plot because they was barely longer than a dbz episode. So they had to rush to the action. Also if you notice the LONGER dbz movies had fleshed out(Well tried to) plots as well.
How come Birus blowing up Kaio's planet was changed from video games to hide and seek. How would Birus ever be seen with how much faster he is than Kaio. Also video game rage makes more sense as everryone has that

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.

Either Toriyama forgot (likely), or it happened two different times with one of the times being a hide and seek defeat and the other being video games.

Seems like they changed it for some reason. I don't think they mentioned Kaio's planet being blown up twice by Birus.

I say they played both the same day, and Beers lost in both games.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

There may not have been "villains" in the strictest sense, but there certainly were antagonists. I think having a Dragon Ball antagonist who isn't a total villain is a nice change of pace, given the previous array of antagonists the heroes faced.
TheGmGoken wrote:they had to rush to the action.
I thought that the action was appropriately built up to. Parallel to all of the humor, Beerus could have snapped at any moment. That's why Vegeta went to the lengths he did to keep everyone entertained. Once the action finally started (Beerus vs everyone) it seemed appropriate to me. Once Goku appears, there's a break in the action, and the new course of action becomes finding out what Super Saiyan God is, so that he can fight Beerus. It is fully known that once the SSj God is found, he would be fighting Beerus. Thus, once Goku transforms into it, the fight would be expected to begin.

I guess that works for me.
Also I'm not sure it was intentional. But I laughed so hard at Gotenks lecturing Birus about manners. Gotenks of all people, who gave Piccolo so much shit.

I would have posted sooner, but I don't have Internet at home right now.
The screening I attended was sold out. There was a huge line outside, mostly +20 years old and the older ones brought their kids. I went with my BF, my sister, her boyfriend and a couple of other friends.
We watched it and liked it a lot. Most people in the screening seemed to like it and laughed at the jokes.
But of course, there is a sizable group that say "it destroyed their childhoods", specially with Vegeta dancing. I guess they were expecting something dramatic like Trunks story or Bardock's, but meh. Back to the basics of DB.
Check out Journey's End, a short story of Goku and Vegeta's final days. "Time is running out for the last two Saiyans"
Watched it for the first time last night. Wow, even though I don't care for the Pilaf bits, everything else in this movie shows the best points of Dragon Ball. Even the music was pretty well done. I love that theme that plays when SSJG Goku and Bills begin to fight.

That guy probably also thinks Veku vs Janenma was funnier than any BoG funny scene, what a moron lol, like most who disliked the movie.....
BoG is probably better than the previous 13 Movies.
The only movies that are better than BoG are History of Trunks and Bardock Father of Goku.

Aso say Latin American or LatAM for short, Latino sounds weird and even a little on the offensive side.
But I´m latin American, how can I be offensive to myself
The Movie seems to be a success everywhere it goes, Ismael Larumbe, Tienshihan´s Latin American voice actor posted on his facebook that Battle of Gods made twice the sucess of movies like Percy Jackson in half the time in Mexico. a fan on his page also said that in his country (El Salvador was it?) already earned like a million in just 3 days.
There's room for only one snake, and one big boss.

Haha, I wondered how come you saw the movie with so much people And you were in the cinema!
Then I have to ask, as I saw it only at home on TV, how was it on big screen? I never was in cinema on 2D animated movie.
