Vegeta only surpassed Super Saiyan 3 Goku for a few seconds, not permanently. According to Goku, Vegeta used all of his power at once, which consumed all of his energy at once. It's not related with dormant power.

Totally agree! Especially with Beerus and Whis discussing how Goku and Vegeta have limitless potential and could become real challenges one dayDBZGTKOSDH wrote: It's not related with dormant power.

Beers is probably talking about God Goku & a potential God Vegeta. Again, Goku explained the reason Vegeta got a rage boost. It's not like with Gohan's rage boost (which never exhausted Gohan, and it's stated to be a Saiyan Halfling thing), and even if it was, Gohan's rage boost was temporary as well (until he got the Ultimate power-up).Kakarot88 wrote:Totally agree! I don't think so my friend!! Beerus never saw Vegeta transforms in to a SSJG ( maybe power estimation on Vegeta). Beerus fought against 80% SSJG Kakarotto and then SSJ Kakarotto with God powers absorbed. That's why Birusu tells Whis that Goku has immeasurable latent power and may one day become a formidable foe for real. " immeasurable latent power " thing explains why Kakarotto have unlimited powers and always ends up surpassing those who have been stronger than him before.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Beers is probably talking about God Goku & a potential God Vegeta.Kakarot88 wrote:Totally agree! In the scene where Goku is discussing his respect for Vegeta during his fight with Bills, someone asks what they're talking about and Piccolo [supposedly] says, "It seems that Goku is receiving training." What did that mean?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I believe it refers to the Birus' advice to Goku about his pride a few seconds earlier.NeoKING wrote:In the scene where Goku is discussing his respect for Vegeta during his fight with Bills, someone asks what they're talking about and Piccolo [supposedly] says, "It seems that Goku is receiving training." It's an odd line that's very literal. I imagine it may be changed to advice or something similar for an official release.

I hope they don't change it! It makes total sense, rather than whooping up on Son-kun, Beerus is in fact testing what each can do and seeing what type of person Goku is. With great power is Goku like freeza or Beerus, or who knows!? In the end Goku gets offered Beerus's job when Beerus passes so it makes total sense that he would be training a prospective protege / replacement.AjayLikesGaming wrote:I believe it refers to the Birus' advice to Goku about his pride a few seconds earlier.NeoKING wrote:In the scene where Goku is discussing his respect for Vegeta during his fight with Bills, someone asks what they're talking about and Piccolo [supposedly] says, "It seems that Goku is receiving training." Beerus is basically Goku with a temper. He loves food and fighting and hasn't had a real challenege in so long he seeks it out. ....and even trains his challenger whom he finds has potential like Goku did with Uub.

Beers means that if Goku & Vegeta train & get stronger, they will be able to cause them trouble. Since SS3 Goku & Raged SS2 Vegeta (not to mention U. Gohan & SS3 Gotenks) can't even barely cause him any trouble, he must be talking about Super Saiyan God, since it was the only form that could fight him. God Goku could fight with 70% Beers, and Vegeta gave him a very good impression as a fighter, and since Goku & Vegeta are equals (minus SS3 for Goku & Rage for Vegeta), a hypothetical God Vegeta would be around as strong as God Goku.MDSTSSJ wrote:I don't think so my friend!! A fight or food to Goku is what a laser pointer or catnip is to Bills.

Better is still subjective though, because to me, I am taking it at face value and I don't see anything difficult to understand in the explanation:Kakarot88 wrote:I can see your point, I just like think my interpretation is better because it seems more in line with Dragon Ball being easy for kids to understand.
Vegeta got stronger than Goku. But wait! Goku became SS God so he's at least briefly stronger but for a time limit! No wait! Actually Goku absorbed that realm of power into his being so now he's again stronger than Vegeta!
Sure the two are buddies and joking but they pretty much agree that at the end Goku is again ahead of Vegeta cuz he has that realm of power absorbed into his being...otherwise there would be no reason to qualify that Vegeta was briefly more powerful than Goku. Vegeta would just be like "Kakarot you clown! Get on my level!"![]()
But I will respectfully agree to disagree with you as you are entitled to your own interpretation. I can see your point but in my opinion it takes a whole lot more analysis than accepting at face value what happened.
Vegeta surpasses Goku. Goku attains Super Saiyan God and surpassed him. Goku drops out of his God Mode, but retains the power. That causes the God Mode to remain dormant until the second, miraculous activation. Goku uses up everything related to the form to do his whole absorption/negation thing on the "Birus Ball". Afterward, both Goku and Vegeta are back to their normal pecking order and Goku is still technically stronger than Vegeta since he has had Super Saiyan 3 since the Buu Arc. So the banter still works, especially with Goku saying they could have a bad guy slap Bluma to enrage Vegeta again if they need the extra power (which would be pointless if Goku retained his God power, as that is LEAGUES ahead of Vegeta's rage moment, which surpasses him at SS3).
It's not like I started digging through everything in the film find the explanation. It was always my first interpretation of everything, as far back as my first time reading the summary (I previously posted this months ago when the film was still in theaters), and watching the film didn't change my mind.

Well, should this be taken as evidence that Goku lost all of the God power? Because not even Goku himself understands how the form works. Not only that, but maybe Goku made that joke just to tease Vegeta.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:So the banter still works, especially with Goku saying they could have a bad guy slap Bluma to enrage Vegeta again if they need the extra power (which would be pointless if Goku retained his God power, as that is LEAGUES ahead of Vegeta's rage moment, which surpasses him at SS3).

But Birusu is surprised AFTER the SSJG transformation when SSJ1 Goku fight almost at the same level as SSJG. When Goku absorbs those powers, Beerus (and specially Whis) discovers that Kakarotto is something special.

Hey guys I have some news on BoG's Box Office.
The movie was #2 for the weekend in Mexico making $2.8 million. It beat Elysium which opened the same week despite opening in 50 fewer theatres. Based on it's gross vs theatre count it ranks as the 7th most impressive opening this year.
In Ecuador the movie has been #1 two weeks running and has made $718,000.
I'm not sure what it's made in Argentina but it was #1 there selling 205,000 tickets opening weekend. That could be worth a million or two.
So far all confirmed numbers point to BoG at making $34.4 million but that's a bare minimum as it does include Argentina and a few of the markets only had figured published for 1 week, 2 at best.

I hope the international popularity BOG's getting is enough to convince Toei to do more in the future (with hopefully larger and well-utilized budgets).
EDIT: In order to avoid double-posting.
Yoyocom's already got her copy of the animanga for BOG, and there's Toriyama Q&A's in it!

Anyway, for anyone interested, the booklet that comes with the special edition places the movie in Age 778, if I'm reading it correctly. Also a grey line is used to link Freeza and Beerus. I haven't worked out what it means, but it's the same line used to connect Kaio to Bubbles.
Actually, speaking of Kaio, anyone notice how they left Gregory out of the film? Really shows that it's a Toriyama work, I guess.

Speaking of Gregory, did he actually appear in ANY movie at all?

Yeah, DBZ Movie 9.Gonstead wrote:Speaking of Gregory, did he actually appear in ANY movie at all?
Also, on the character relationships page (can't remember if that's what it's actually called) there's a little blurb at the top about the King Vegeta flashback sequence. I wonder if it says anything interesting, same goes for the rest of the book actually. Not sure if it's just all recycled information.
The Q&A also looks interesting. Always excited to see if there'll be more hints at future works.

It'll be fun to see if there is any sort of new information in there. As always, I'm a sucker for new tidbits. Even the small stuff.
