Korean R3 Dragonball Boxsets

I was browsing YesAsia.com today, to see what kind of obscure crap they might've had in stock. Anyway, glad as ever to see yet another release of Dragonball, here's the two Korean boxsets (each around $100 each)

Both should be listed on that page. Might not seem like something worth worrying about but I'd rather let everyone know, just in case.

I've read on a french message board that these are bootlegs...

Nope. R3 is legit stuff. It's the ones that have Chinese and English subs that are also region free that are the bootlegs. Considering the bootlegs don't even have all these goodies and YesAsia is pretty much legit, this is pretty much authentic.

Korean releases have been known to have questionable material. I know that their Giant Robo and Trigun releases have contained remastered JP video, english subs and dub track, even though they didn't license those, and their O!MG OVA releases used unauthorised remastered r2 footage.

Regardless though I thought these might be interesting though if someone can get a yay or nay on the matter that'd be fabulous

If you look closely on the 'Region Code' section, it clearly states that those are "DVD ALL." They seem to be bootlegs.

Not necessarily.

a lot of Software Sculptors stuff like Slayers is all regions and is totally legit.

Yeah, but those are American releases. Red flags go up when it comes to Asian ones (not meaning to discriminate however 99% of physical film/Anime piracy comes from Asian countries where punishment and investigation is rather lax. It's even said HK will unofficially not try their hardest to try to catch out pirates because piracy helps their tourism industry)

Those do indeed look very bootleg-ish... But I must say that I've never heard of yesasia ever selling bootleg material. Of course I may be wrong...

Considering it's being sold on YesAsia, I don't see what the deal is since they only sell legit stuff. o_O That and it's not like they're not the only ones selling unprofessional looking boxed sets. Or have we forgotten what FUNimation gave us in terms of "art" with simple screenshots galore? >__>;

Yesasia have sold HK bootlegs for Kenshin and One Piece however removed them as they were obviously HK bootlegs.

Korean bootlegs are a trickier matter, otoh. Best to just take it as it is, since no one will buy them anyway.

If it is a bootleg, it doesn't appear to be the typical bootleg made for Americans considering the obvious lack of English subtitles. o_o Though I guess the thing that really makes it seem iffy is simply the way how the box and CDs are designed. Simply just reused artwork in its simplicity.

There are TONS of bootlegs without English subs.

I'm speaking in terms of Dragon Ball bootlegs.

I'm well aware there are bootlegs of other things without English subs. You really can't find many bootlegs sets of Dragon Ball these days without it either being the dub compiled together or really bad English and Chinese subbed DVDs. And that's not even counting the CD-Rs and DVD-Rs that simply just have recorded episodes on them.

£53 for that? I don't think so. Be wary. I wouldn't purchase. There are two signs of a bootkleg here: Region-free and a ridiculously low price for what you're getting. I'll wait it out; see if any more info comes up.
