Character Creation in games
I don't know about everyone else, but I really like the creation choices we've been getting lately. Dragon Ball Online, Heroes (I don't know much about the gameplay, but still), and Ultimate Tenkaichi I think is all. We've gotten to make Namekians, Male and Female Majins, Freeza characters, Androids, and plain ole male and female Saiyans (Though I think Ultimate Tenkaichi you could only make Males). I really enjoyed making characters in Online, and seeing the androids you could play as in Heroes for the first time I was so excited that it was possible.
Anyway, I wanted to make this thread to talk about the customization in games, hopefully in more games in the future. Talk about maybe different races that could be played as, things that you really enjoy that you want to see more of, and that sort of thing.

Re: Customizable characters in games
Looking at Namco Bandai's consistently screwed up track record, we won't get a decent character creator

Vegeta: "Funny... I seem to recall Kakarot being fed the same information right before he transformed; the distinct look on your faces when he went Super Saiyan didn't exactly inspire confidence. One does not predict or calculate power like ours."

Which is funny considering the awesome character creation we got in Soul Calibur 5 (though the game as a whole sucked) and the items you could customize existing characters with in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Id pay to see Namco do a Tekken style or Ninja Storm style DBZ game. with so much more focus on the characters and not the effects and environment, maybe we could get a much better character creation system.TheMightyOzaru wrote:Looking at Namco Bandai's consistently screwed up track record, we won't get a decent character creator

Re: Customizable characters in games
I hope so. I actually stopped being excited for Battle of Z because they weren't experimenting in the character creation aspect of things. It feels like this is really the next step the games need to take for me to keep being interested. Only so many times I can go through the story and unlock everyone. My ideal fighting game would have extensive character creation, more interesting What If's (SSJ Pan, please), and that's about it. I'd want more stuff, but those two things would make me instantly as hype as could be for the new game.KentalSSJ6 wrote:Which is funny considering the awesome character creation we got in Soul Calibur 5 (though the game as a whole sucked) and the items you could customize existing characters with in Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Re: Character Creation in games
I love the way you can pick from different races in DBO, I'd really like to see that in a fighting game. I'd also like to see the option to create female Saiyans in games other than Heroes.
She/her (I have a Twitter account now.)Cipher wrote:Dragon Ball is the story of a kind-hearted, excitable child who uses the power of friendship to improve those around him as he grows into a dangerous obsessive who sometimes accidentally saves the world.
Re: Character Creation in games
If there is a character creation game that doesn't allow female saiyans I will be pretty upset.
Re: Character Creation in games
Just copy the character creator that the WWE games had. They are awesome. Though the evil voice was the only voice I liked the hero character to have.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Dimps' Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers gameplay is very similar to Naruto's Storm 3 so it could happen if Namco Bandai handled DBZ home console games back to Dimps. Either that or the ol' Budokai style (Street Fighter on steroids). It would be an interesting experiment a DBZ game on Naruto Storm gameplay.KentalSSJ6 wrote:I'd pay to see Namco do a Tekken style or Ninja Storm style DBZ game. with so much more focus on the characters and not the effects and environment, maybe we could get a much better character creation system.

Likewise. Some of the voice's pre battle dialogue is just awesome.dbzfan7 wrote:Just copy the character creator that the WWE games had. They are awesome. Though the evil voice was the only voice I liked the hero character to have.
VS Ginyu - "Oh, you? Oh well, I got a couple minutes..". "Dude, you are so...ah never mind."
VS Freeza "What? You thought you could surprise me with that?"
I know hes got a good one with Scouter Vegeta but I cant remember it, crap.

Re: Character Creation in games
Am I the only one who doesn't care for the idea of character creation? I want to play as my favourite characters from the show. Not some crappy ripoff lookalikes. Plus who really wants to face endless Goku clones online. As someone mentioned above being able to customise existing characters with different outfits/hairstyles like in Tekken would be better.

That sounds worse to me. I dont wanna fight Mystic Gohan with purple SSJ3 hair and rainbow pants.90sDBZ wrote:Am I the only one who doesn't care for the idea of character creation? What I really what is alternate colors like Super DBZ gave us, just with more color separation.
