Help in recording songs? (Technical question)

Post by kenisu3000 » Thu Jun 08, 2006 2:26 pm

I hope this topic isn't TOO out-of-place. It IS DragonBall-related, but what I'm asking is, does anyone know of a program I can download that will allow me to rip music from the DragonBall CDs into mp3 format?
The reason why I ask this is because, as many of you know, most of the DragonBall BGM CDs, including the BGM Collection, compile SEVERAL BGM pieces onto one track, and it really irritates me. I want to go through each track and edit it so I can have each BGM piece separate, and uploaded to my iPod so I can have nice, quick, easy access to BGM information while I'm working on my music documentation. However, each music ripping-program I have on my computer (mainly RealOne Player and Windows Media), rips the music from the CD in a format that isn't supported by GoldWave, the music editor I use. GoldWave does, however, support mp3 format.
If it isn't possible to rip music *directly* into an mp3 format, what do I need to do to change the file format to mp3 after I've ripped it?

I *know* I've done all this before (my "Soundclips of the New BGM" thread is proof), but I just don't remember how I did it!
BGM forever! If only more people paid attention to it... well, I intend to change that.

In Windows Media Player, it's possible to change the format you wish to encode for in the options, I have it set on mp3 here.

OK, thanks so much!

...It was only after posting this thread that I discovered that GoldWave had a CD reader :)

I personally think WMP is crap for ripping and converting. I use this program for recording and storing CDs on my comp.

OK. Does it have a program where you can edit the music within the track? (Just asking as in the last couple of days, I've discovered that GoldWave is also crap, as it compresses the BGM into a format that makes it sound yucky and... like it's underwater...)

Rip to wav using Easy CD-DA Extractor, edit with SoundEngine Free and convert to flac, mp3 or whatever you wish with Easy CD-DA Extractor.

That's what I do and I get beautiful sounding music everytime.

No problem, I've been using that combo for quite a while for Dragon Ball BGM, Dragon Ball Z BGM and Mega Man music. I figured that since it worked for me it would help you too.
