Since I am new to these forums, I would like to introduce myself before I get into the point of this thread. My name is KaioGojita (you may address me as Kaio or Gojita, whichever suits your needs. I'm an average hardcore Dragon Ball fan for about sixteen years now since 1997 thanks to my Japanese friend who have shown me tapes from Japan of the series (and thanks to my knowledge in the Japanese language, I was able to understand the Japanese voice actors.) Ever since then, I was a proud collector and fan of the series entire (of course, not so much Dragon Ball GT aside from the appearance of Super Saiyan Four Gogeta.) Every thing Dragon Ball I spot, I must buy and add to my collection that is currently building up, when finished I hope to post majority of pictures or videos on the site for all of you to see.
My favorite character is (although not considered canon due to both Fusion Reborn and Dragon Ball GT not being written by Mr. Toriyama himself) is Gogeta, my second favorite character is Future Trunks because of his outstanding bravery and character development from the special to the end of the Cell Saga when he challenged Andriod's 18 and 17 only to single handedly destroy them both. My third favorite character has to be a tie between Son Goku (go figure) and Piccolo Jr. Reason I joined this site is because of the outstanding Dragon Ball fan community, I've seen this site when it was called Daizenshuu EX and was always fond of the community as well as thinking of being apart of it however due to my studies I never got around to it. For those who want to get in contact with me other than here, I am on Twitter and YouTube!Now, getting back to the point of this topic, I would like to address the story told by Shenron of the "Original Super Saiyan God". Told by Shenron, The Original Super Saiyan God was a pure hearted Saiyan who wanted to rid Planet Vegeta from the evil Saiyans so (with the help of six pure hearted Saiyans who infused their power into that one specific Saiyan) transformed into the Super Saiyan God and proved to be an enormous threat to the evil Saiyans as the Super Saiyan God was shown in a little clip to be far more powerful than the average Oozaru if not an entire Oozaru team. However, due to the forms time limit, the Super Saiyan God reverted back to his normal form and failed in his mission of defeating all evil hearted Saiyans.
Now even before I've seen the film, little spoilers // information from those who have seen it in theaters in Japan were scattered online almost a day or two after its release in Japanese theaters, this little tale told my Shenron caught my attention automatically and almost instantly linked me to an already existing character known as Bardock. For those who have no idea who Bardock was, he is the father of both Raditz and Kakarotto (otherwise known as Son Goku), he was once an average solider who served Frieza until Freeza's betrayal and plan to annihilate the entire Saiyan race due to the over grown power of the race which Frieza wanted to prevent the day that the Saiyan's form an empire and overthrow Frieza with the power of the "Super Saiyan" which was told from generations to generations from both the Saiyan race to Frieza's ancestors. Frieza had his men slaughter Bardock's own teammates without Bardock even being present during the event, Bardock would later find his dead teammates and half dead best friend Tora who would later die in Bardock's arms before warning him of Frieza's betrayal and fright of the Saiyan race. This left Bardock questioned because after everything they have done for their "lord", he would stab them in the back or as said by Bardock; "Frieza's taken our loyalty and paid us back in our own blood." He would stand enrage after the death of his teammates after swearing to take revenge on the men who did this than later Frieza himself. After the men made their appearance known to Bardock, they would only mock him how they "had fun with his crew earlier" and how he should have been there to seen it, as Bardock would agree and wish he could've been there to prevent the slaughter. Bardock would then challenge the soldiers with ease aside from seeing constant flashes of his son's (Goku's) future before his very eyes which would cause him to be distracted from his fight. However, he would later shown to be victor of this battle as he would single handedly slaughter the soldiers, though, this wasn't the end of the battle for Dodoria would make his sudden presence known and land a presume-finisher on the Saiyan which let Dodoria believe he killed Bardock only for the Saiyan to be tattered with great injury. Although his injuries were great, he couldn't let the fate of his race be left in the hands of Frieza, with that, he would race back to his planet before suddenly crossing space pods with his infant son Kakarot who to unknown to Bardock seemed to be going into another direction to start a new life and a new generation. Bardock would land on Planet Vegeta only to be informed that his son had just departed from the planet onto another, making all of the Saiyan's constant flashes of a young male looking identical to himself fighting on an unknown planet with countless enemies and even the Prince of Planet Vegeta himself his son Kakarot and was indeed the future to be ahead for the baby. And thus, if all the flashes of Kakarot were indeed true, then the flashes of the destruction of Planet Vegeta would be coming into reality as well. With no time to waste, Bardock would ignore all his injuries and would try to inform his people of the attack Frieza would soon bring upon the planet, but do to his behavior and tattered being, the Saiyans would only brush the warning aside and mock Bardock, this would leave Bardock alone for the struggle as he (even without the aid of his Saiyan men) would challenge Frieza head on after the encouraging words from the vision of his son, Kakarot a.k.a Goku would give Bardock hope that it wasn't too late to change rather than becoming no different than Frieza himself. He would jump into space and completely fight through an entire crowd of Frieza's men in order to face the ship before him which contained Frieza. Bardock would defeat most of Frieza's men having left overs try to hold him back from the ship, however would let go over the site of Frieza himself. Bardock would then make a speech that he was no longer the puppet that Frieza controlled and he was now free, he would make his attack for all the innocent lives that they killed in his name, which would prove to be nothing compared to Frieza's death ball which would absorb the attack and be thrown at Bardock along with his men causing them to disintegrate within the blast before the final flash of the future came into Bardock's mind; he would see his son, Kakarot, challenge Frieza head on and avenge the Saiyan race, which left Bardock to smile upon seeing his race would be avenged by his son seconds before the death ball would collide into the planet causing the destruction of everything contained in it before exploding into a million pieces. As Kakarot would be still flying in his pod, Bardock would leave him a message of thanks and regret that he couldn't hold him in his arms when he had the chance before bidding farewell to his son as Kakarot would be sent into his new destination and future. The Original Super Saiyan God appears as a silhouette of a Saiyan with hair similar to Vegeta and a tail. According to the story, the Original Super Saiyan God was pure-hearted and wanted to defeat all of the evil Saiyans. Thanks to the power of five other pure-hearted Saiyans, the Original Super Saiyan God took on the Super Saiyan God form in order to fight the incredibly powerful evil Saiyans on Planet Vegeta, but he failed because of the form's time limit. Years later, after being asked by Goku how to attain the Super Saiyan God transformation so that he may fight the God of Destruction Bills, Shenron tells the Z Fighters, Bills, and Whis the story of the Original Super Saiyan God.
Not to long ago on June 21, 2011, Naho Ooishi who is a friend of Mr. Toriyama and longtime fan of the Dragon Ball franchise created a three chapter manga dedicated to the character Bardock after his presumed demise in the manga which would be titled; "Episode Of Bardock". In this manga and to-be-soon-turned-animation OVA, soon after his confrontation with Frieza and his defeat (as we thought, "demise") along with the Planet Vegeta, Bardock would somehow be brought back in time during the colliding of the death ball and Planet Vegeta. He would be sent back centuries back in time with no thought of the events prior to his defeat as he questioned that if he was caught in the blast - how would he survive? He would awaken in a seemingly prehistoric time of Planet Vegeta as the skies and land were somewhat similar. Although not confirmed why in this manga, Bardock's abilities to witness events of the future seemed to have dimmed away not long after his defeat by Frieza. He would awaken with his wounds fully healed and on a bed which would mean he was discovered and treated by someone seconds before meeting two purple small creatures who notify Bardock that they indeed found him and healed his wounds. The tallest one introduces himself as Ipana, the village doctor before introducing his son, Berry, Berry would cheerfully ask what Bardock's name was only to be brushed off by the Saiyan who said he "hated kids". Ipana would treat Bardock's arm lastly with a lime green liquid which would instantly heal the wound, Bardock remarks that this fluid is used in the recovery chambers on Planet Vegeta as well as being told that this the planet he was on was titled "Planet Plant" which was the past name of "Planet Vegeta". This leads Bardock to wonder if he was actually sent back in time rather then meeting with the same fate as his planet and people Before Bardock could officially come to a conclusion that he was indeed sent back into the past, he would notice a space ship fly across the area which would be remarkably identical to Freeza's, leading Bardock to believe that it was indeed Freeza himself. Bardock would make no hesitation to jump into action and fly to the area which the ship had landed. As he would arrive, he would spot two soldiers reeking havoc in the village of the purple creatures in order to conquer the inhabitants of "Planet Plant" before defeating them both we ease, thus saving the village and living the villagers to be grateful to their savior, which Bardock denies before retreating to the nearest cave where he would take residence in and try to figure the entire situation out. He would than be greeted by the young alien known as Berry who he had met prior to his awakening who would carry food for the Saiyan, which Bardock denies but Berry would consider him eating seconds before he would be threatened to leave his sight by Bardock which Berry follows and retreats back to his village in fright before leaving the food for the Saiyan, which Bardock would later devour due to his stomach being empty. Overtime, Bardock would train himself to become more stronger than he was in his confrontation with Freeza as Berry would bring him food daily, making Berry feel more comfortable with the Saiyans but even more so when Bardock offered one loaf of bread to Berry before giving his name to the alien child, which Berry cheerfully chants his name. This relationship could be pretty much compared to the relationship of Tapion and Trunks in the movie Wrath Of The Dragon. Not longer after the soldiers defeat by Bardock, the leader known as Lord Chilled who would be the ancestor of Freeza himself would give note to the warrior who had defeated his soldiers and ensure to show no mercy to those who challenge the almighty power of Lord Chilled before demanding that they go to Planet Plant to meet with this "warrior". Once arriving, they would make contact with the villagers under the title of the "Galactic Police" and ask if the villagers have seen of any "evildoers" who may have been attacking the planet recently, which the villagers imply that they were defeated by "Bardock." Chilled would then ask if they present Bardock to them, for they would like to give him an award as his eyes shine bright red prior to saying this to which Berry witnesses (in the manga, he spots blood on the right arm of Chilled after he mercifully killed one of his soldiers for standing in his way) before going to notify Bardock. He would tell Bardock that these men have arrived on their planet and are looking for him, which Bardock questions only to not get an answer as an explosion is heard from the the village where the Chilled and his men were just in. causing havoc, Berry would plea to Bardock to save his village which Bardock tries to refuse stating it "isn't his problem" before succumbing to Berries cries and flying toward the direction of Lord Chilled where, Chilled and his men would destroy the village and request to Ipana of their "healing fluid" which Ipana refuses causing Chilled to demand his soldiers to kill him due to his denial, which Bardock intrudes and slaughters the two men with ease as he presents himself to Chilled himself. Upon spotting the identical appearance of Chilled to Freeza, Bardock immediately attacks Chilled with one punch which blows back and enrages the dark lord before he would counter with a side kick to Bardock's jaw which sends him back, sliding on the ground only to have his head stomped on by the foot of Chilled. Bardock would struggle beneath the foot of Chilled as Bardock repeatedly yell Freeza's name with the thought that this orange alien is indeed Freeza himself, only for Chilled to address himself as "Lord Chilled The Galaxy's Most Powerful Space Pirate", which is caught to surprise of Bardock that he was indeed sent back into time. Chilled, now bored with Bardock decides to commence the final blow on the Saiyan before being confronted by Berry who pleas that Chilled leave Bardock alone and stop his actions, which Chilled responses on striking the alien with the blow which was meant to be for Bardock, causing the alien to fall unconscious and thought-to-be-dead to Bardock. Bardock, feeling enraged at the site of Berries demise, would begin to stand upward, and with the thought of his failure to protect Planet Vegeta and his failure to not become stronger, Bardock would snap into the Legendary Super Saiyan which catches surprised to Chilled. Bardock would witness the feeling his new power flowing through him as Chilled would question what he had just become, Bardock declares that he won't even forgive Chilled for his actions. Chilled still continues to mock Bardock that just because his hair turned blonde, he was still superior in power, which Bardock is unresponsive and stands halt as Chilled commences his countless barrage of beam attacks to Bardock which would certainly kill the average Saiyan. However, to the surprised of Chilled, Bardock still stands with only his armor tattered from the attack which causes Chilled to ask who Bardock is, which Bardock implies he is just an ordinary Saiyan as Chilled questions what a Saiyan is. Bardock proceeds to ask Chilled if "he was ready" before walking toward Chilled who stands in fright before launching himself in the air as begins to charge yet another attack to destroy the entire planet before declaring he won't let anyone stronger than him exist and that they could all die. Bardock would only stand as Chilled launches the attack as he would begin to charge his own, which seems to be the same one he used to defend off Freeza's death ball, this time more powerful as it would collide with Chilled's attack as Bardock mentioned the one to die, was going to be Chilled himself as Bardock's attack began to overpower Chilled's causing him to be caught in the beam itself as he would be sent back far into space, defeating Chilled. Berry and Ipana would approach Bardock as Berry is shown to be laughing and cheerfully running towards to him, as Bardock would only smile as the rest of the villagers would circle around him. Back in space however, Chilled floats in defeat and tattered with deep injuries before being recovered by his men. When one of his soldiers asked what happened, Chilled then stated and I quote before dying of shock and his injuries;
Thus, starting the tale of the Super Saiyan for centuries to come."Tell this to my family...beware of a mysterious being...whose hair can turn blonde...called...a...S...Saiyan..."
Now, one could imply that Bardock wasn't the Original Super Saiyan that was told by Vegeta during the Namek Saga. However, the story told by Vegeta was that the Original Super Saiyan transformed and due to his prehistoric behavior and inability to control his power, he would cause the entire planet to explode thus making the Saiyans migrate to another planet which would be the "Tuffle Planet" and later "Planet Vegeta". Now, what instantly caught my attention and made me question was that - if the Original Super Saiyan destroyed the planet and its entire inhabitants due to his overwhelming power, how could the Saiyan's migrate to another planet if the Original Super Saiyan so-called destroyed the planet and the entire inhabitants? Sure, one could argue that it could be possible that a vast majority of Saiyans could have been on another planet during the time and they would repopulate on that said planet. However, you must remember, this was LOONG before the Saiyans took over the Tuffle Planet and was given technology to travel and take over other planets. How could they possibly travel onto other planets if they didn't have the technology to do so?
Where am I going with this? It could be possible that over time, the story was alternated by someone and was far from the true story of what occurred. My theory is that the story was told by the villagers who witnessed Bardock defeat Lord Chilled as well as being told by the descendents of Lord Chilled and may have been alternated due to not having exact memory. I mean, due to that large amount of time, someone may fully add exaggeration to the story that is far from the truth. Not to mention that Planet Plant was the "original name" of Planet Vegeta as well as having the same gravity, thus making it the same exact Planet Vegeta from what we see in the Bardock special. There is no way that the planet was destroyed so the Saiyans had to migrate to another Planet with the exact same environment, it may be a possibility but than that would make the question of how they even migrated without flight technology. So it is possible, that Bardock may have been the original Super Saiyan but his story was alternated as time passed. However, some flaws in the OVA Episode Of Bardock were made such as Bardock's ability to see into the future was disabled and his headband that was seen floating in space at the end of the special "Bardock, The Father Of Bardock" would be later reattached to Bardock's head as he would awaken from his slumber in the beginning of the "Episode Of Bardock", as well as how Bardock would be his own ancestor, not to mention the message sent to Goku shortly after Bardock's "death" which we see a bright light which awakens Goku. But if you look at some of the original story of Dragon Ball, it has some flaws as well. Now, of course some won't consider "The Episode Of Bardock" canon, but it is actually interesting to think how it fits within the actual story and may very well be true. NOW, onto the legend of Super Saiyan God, around the time that Battle Of Gods was released into Japanese theaters, I have discussed with a friend who is a very big fan of Bardock the possibilities that the "Saiyan God" Shenron is referring to is indeed Bardock. Of course, we made connection with the OVA "Episode Of Bardock" which Bardock was brought back in time. It is noted that around the time the Saiyan God was around and try to defeat the "evil Saiyans" was about the same period as the Original Super Saiyan, which if made connection with "The Episode Of Bardock" would mean that Bardock was indeed around at that time period. Now, if you take a look at it, Shenron noted that this "Saiyan" was pure hearted and disapprove of the Saiyan's evil ways, if connected to Bardock, he indeed changed his ways ever since his vision of Goku letting him know "that it isn't too late to be different from Freeza" as well as saving the villagers from the wrath of Chilled. his development is somewhat similar to that of Vegeta's. As it is even revealed that the sacrifice Vegeta had done in the Majin Buu Saga, released all evil in Vegeta's evil within his heart thus making him pure hearted and how he was able to help in letting Goku become the Saiyan God. Surely Bardock's unselfish actions in trying to sake his own life for his planet and son's future and his saving of Planet Plant caused him to release all evil in his heart, causing him to be pure. Judging from this image, you can already sense that he isn't the heartless man that he once was, and is a mixture of Goku and Vegeta.
