Well, Mirai Gohan get's his own gi if I remember correctly. It's Goku-esque, but it has Gohan (I think) written on it, instead of the Kame or Kaio symbol.

I was surfing the 'net the other week (with my new board), and I came across some mountains on my search for images of Tien. Why are these mountains so special? Because they're called the "T i e n Shan" mountains. And, if I recall, Tien lives next to the mountains (right?).

So far, I don't know of any puns relating to Tien, so maybe these mountains (situated in Asia) have something to do with his name?

Or am I some Craaaazy goof?

"Tenshinhan" was yet another food reference, actually.
It's the name of a Chinese meal, but I'm not sure how it's called in English-speaking countries. "Tianjin meal"?

Well, in volume 14 of DBZ (vol. 30 of the tankoubon) on page 110, is an aerial shot of Mt. Paoz. If you look to the right of Goku's house (right underneath Trunks' arm), you can see another house! But doesn't the Son family live in general solitary? Also note that you can tell it's not Goku's house, since his house lies next to Goku's little hut that he used to live in as a kid (or was it a shrine to Grandpa Gohan?).

Haven't looked over this whole thread, and I hope it's not too far, but I have to say that DB/DBZ is one of the most true to the manga series I have seen.

Well, another thing I remember noticing when I re-read the DB manga was the death of one of The King's guards. It was practically exactly like Yamcha's death to Android 20 in DBZ.

Well the thing is, Gokuh's house in the anime and manga are different. Even the symbol on their front doors are different. In the manga they basically live in a village in the mountains, have neighbors etc... but in the anime they apparently live next to Gokuh's old house (Gohan's house). In fact, I'm not sure Mt. Paozu has ever been mentioned in the manga at all.

Well, Toriyama's never been that good with keeping some of this little descriptions constant throughout the series (height, wrist band color, etc.). However, in the first DB volume, Viz has the narration say "Long, long ago, in a deep, dark forest far from civilization," but I guess it's always possible to have some ascetics or campers with capsules hanging around there or something.

That is correct. Now that I've read all 42 volumes of the Manga, I can say that Mt. Paozu is not a term used in the Manga, and the Son family lives near other people.

I'd just like to mention that even in the anime, there is mention that the Son Family has neighbors. At least once, Chichi states, "What will the neighbors think?!", and during the Cell Games an old couple watching the games on television reconize Gohan as being Chichi's son.

Also, where would Chichi buy her groceries in the renoun "driving" episode if there wasn't at least a market for her to go to? If anything, they live in walking distance of some nearby village.

Oh yeah, those old people! But wasn't it Goku, not Gohan, that they recognized? I like to think that Chi-chi forces Goku to come with them and have little neighbor bonding nights or something.

I remember them recognizing Gohan as well and commenting on him, although that was in the dub. Was it just a dub-included line, or was it adapted from the original?

The neighbors recognizing Gokuh on television was in the manga so it seems natural they would include that in the anime. I do remember Chichi mentioning neighbors in the driving episode too so yeah, I guess they have them in the anime too....just really, really distant neighbors.

Here is something I have noticed in the series. Piccolo seems to change the color of his cloth-belt-like-thing every now and then.

Well, have you guys noticed, when Piccolo and Goku were fighting Raditz, when the latter blew off Piccolo's left arm? In episode 5, he manages to kill Goku and Raditz with Makankosappo, all while having only one arm. Afterwards, while Piccolo was talking with Master Roshi, Bulma and Krillin about his plans with Gohan, there's a shot of him from an angle above, where he's shown with both of his arms intact. And then, in the next shot (this time from a different angle) he's one-armed again. I thought "what the hell?", and watched it again, and it really was so. But it wasn't until later on when Piccolo grew back his lost limb (while freaking everyone out).
So it seems like Toei itself has been making a fair amount of animation errors themselves, because the episode I watched was uncut, and it wasn't edited by FUNimation.
