Regarding Cell's Claim

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Because that's absurd-comic-book-character-overpowered.
Well, DBZ is pretty overpowered too.

Just not "lol i sneezed, there goes half the galaxy" level.

Cell says he can destroy the solar system, so he can. I assumed he would just create a blast so large that it would reach all the planets. Sure when you think about it in real life that's ridiculously huge, but this is DBZ. They destroy the moon and the planet isn't ruined by all the negative effects, etc. You aren't supposed to take that into account.

My theory is that Cell is a dumb insect-man that never went to school and doesn't know how a solar system works.

He probably said that because it sounded cool in his head.

He already knew a lot of history. The computer fed him tons of data and knowledge.

I think it most likely he means that his attack has enough raw strength it could destroy the solar system.
As in, nothing the the solar system would be able to 'block' the attack, so if you stacked the planets in a line and shot the kamehameha, it would tunnel straight through all of them and even quite likely cause them to then shatter and explode.

Seems fairly reasonable, rock and stuff is fairly yielding under blasts, frieza launched an attack that penetrated to nameks core and destablised it(and apparently 'held back' to not instantly destroy the planet? I can't remember off the top of my head), and Cell and co. are much stronger than frieza was. It might not have the spread to engulf the whole solar system (since it's a 'thin' beam), but it does have the equivalent energy behind it.

leveraging has a guide called dragon ball: the legend of manga, exclusively dedicated to manga.
he confirmed that cell actually would destroy the solar system:
el androide acumuló energia como para destruir todo el sistema solar y lanzó um poderoso kamehame-há.

the android accumulated energy to destroy the entire solar system and threw a mighty Kamehameha.

has some interesting information, like the multiplier of trunks ussj2:
Trunks adquire una fuerza diez veces superior, pero su capacidad

De movimento es más limitada.

Trunks acquires a force ten times, but their ability

Of movement is more limited.

really interesting, 2 guides stating that cell can destroy the solar system. and how in the guide of the herms, each transformation overcomes ssj1, is ssj2 is the ssjg5 that surpasses ssjg (ssj1), ssjg2 (USSJ), ssjg3 (ussj2) and ssjg4 (fpssj).

for me, cell, destroy a solar system is quite plausible.

I believe it.
Freezer's first form was able to blow up a planet effortlessly.

Super Perfect Cell, who is hundreds of orders of magnitude stronger, should at least be able to oneshot the solar system.

The power gab to destroy a planet to solar system is huge. I can buy SSjG Goku and Birus able to do, but Cell seems a bit off. I know he is much stronger then Freeza, but being stronger then character A does always mean you can do much more. To me, Solar System busting the limit for DBZ. Destroying galaxies and universes is just stupid fan wank.

A solar system is pretty much just space. Even if Toriyama didn't really care about that...he obviously wanted Cell to have the power to do so. Hell Cell could have expanded the beams. Cell could have just been talking about the planets of the solar system(and rocks) being destroyed.
