There's actually nothing in the manga saying that something like that wouldn't work. Someone like Tenshinhan could probably use it. So, that wouldn't be much of a gag, more like a creative use of both techniques.
My question is how far that technique could go. I would imagine the time limit would be quite small.

It does seem the art is abit better from the more recent pages weve gotten. Id love to see the artist who draws Dragon Ball EX do this.
