Why did Senzu become so scarce?

When we first see them, it looks like Karin has a whole bunch of them, but as the series progresses, it seems like he hardly has any. If he had so many of them before, what happened to make them so scarce?

The fact Yajirobe ate 20 at once probably didnt help.

Blame Yajirobe for eating almost all of Senzu Beans which is why those beans became scarce. But why didn't Korin get him out of his tower and never let anyone like Yajirobe eat his beans again except for Z-Fighters? If he could do that, any of the senzu beans would've been saved for Z-Fighters when it comes to threats.

It probably is Yajirobe, yeah - though I think it's also a plot thing. Less senzu means less dues ex machina style 'instant health regenerations'.

Also, a lot of senzu beans were used through the series, they would eventually run out either way.

Although, then again, if they are grown by Korin, how would they run out?

Perhaps they just wanted to move on and not follow the "Someone is hurt, get some beans" route.

Since beans are used almost constantly towards the start of the series but not so much in Cell saga and once to my memory in Buu (Given to Videl)

I suppose in story there could've been an issue, a drought of sorts for 8 years, from when Yajirobe and Korin met to the battle with Raditz, that ruined Korin's future yield for crops. Throw in all the normal diseases for plants, even already harvested, and there's always a crisis every few years, Korin could never replenish his supply.

There were probably hundreds of years worth of Senzu harvest stored in huge barrels before Yajirobe started living with Karin, enough at least to ensure that the Z fighters would have been ensured unlimited regeneration prospects throughout all of their battles. Too bad.

Besides, Dende and Kaioshin's healing abilities more-or-less made the notion of Senzu redundant in the latter portion of the manga, and in GT the writers decided that Goku could be healed by everyone giving him their Saiyan energy (Uub was always excluded).

The fat man Yajoirbe. He ate all of those damn beans. He was suppose to get a heart burn from them but the beans healed the burn before the burn even happen.

Most likely reasons would probably be Yajirobe's large self, constant use by the Z-Fighters and possibly also something completely unrelated to the other two reasons, but nature. Like mentioned earlier possibly a drought, disease, etc.

Out-of-Universe: Battles couldn't be as intense if you could just grab a bean to prop yourself back-up.

In-Universe: Blame the fat samurai who delivers them.

It wasn't really smart to not try producing mass amounts of senzu.

I know in DBO there's something about Yajirobe cultivating senzu at the bottom of the tower.
