What new releases will you be picking up in 2014?

Post by DragonBoxZTheMovies » Sun Oct 27, 2013 8:35 pm

With 2013 not even over yet, we already have a substantial line-up of releases (Battle of Z, Blu-Rays, Full Colour Comics) for the first two months of next year. Seems very strange, since these sorts of releases use to come out around now/November time-frame.

So what will you guys be picking up? Will you be buying it on release date or waiting a little while?

While I am starting to see less and less point in owning the whole Anime, I will be picking up the new Blu-Rays starting with season 2 (very sorry :P ), since I haven't actually seen all of it and I have more nostalgia for Z than either DB or GT. I probably didn't word that very well, but it's hard to explain. :P

Also plan on picking up the Full Colour Comics. Really looking forward to these, actually. Is this the closest we'll ever get to a perfect release of the Manga?

Battle of Z...I'm kinda on the fence about grabbing this one. It looks fun and all, but I'm not exactly blown away by it and I've heard a lot of negative things about it over in that messy thread.

I pre-ordered battle of Z for the PS3 and will be picking up the Full color comics as they look pretty sweet.
I even have the blu-rays pre-ordered to see what it looks like in motion.

I don't really do Dragon Ball video games, and I haven't picked up an English release of something in ages, so my purchases will probably mainly consist of Jaco the Galactic Patrolman, V-Jump, Saikyō Jump, and volume 2 (if not volume 3 as well) of Dragon Ball SD.

I suppose I'm also obligated to pick up future releases of the Full Color Comics if and/or when they come out, but nothing's been announced just yet.

On your side, yeah, but Viz is putting out physical volumes here starting in February.

They're big volumes too, the first volume is apparently 0.2 inches taller than an old US SJ issue.

Needless to say, I'll be getting it (my topic about FC DB predates its actual confirmation by more than a month, lol), and perhaps Battle of Z, but I'll have to think about it.

Forgot to add a ticket to one of Madman's screenings of BOG if they happen to be showing it in NZ. :)

 That is big. Probably a dumb question, but are the Japanese volumes this big?

Possibly this ssjg Goku http://ameblo.jp/yoyocom69/image-116543 ... 40026.html because he's so cute and I don't have any merch of him yet (unless you count the is-it-a-figure-or-what? that came with the BOG limited edition blu-ray box.
On hiatus.

Japanese DB Full Color Vol 1 dimensions: 6.9 x 0.9 x 4.6 inches

Viz DB Full Color Volume 1 dimensions: 10.2 x 6.6 x 0.8 inches

The smallest number is the width, which changes by page count. The largest number is the height of the book, and the middle number is the length of the book.

According to the dimension, the Viz version is almost as long as the Japanese version is tall. But, the Japanese version is slightly larger...perhaps some content is missing, or the pages are slightly thinner.

Battle of Z for the PS3, for sure, hoping it'll be fun.
Battle of Gods Blu-ray from Spain, since I'm guessing it won't take too long to come out.
Might complete a run of the Japanese tankoubon.
The Super Saiyan God Goku figure that Chuquita linked to looks really good, too :P

May or may not get the MangaUK release of Dragon Ball GT, just to finally own that series.

Two things that I can think of right now:

Full Colour Vol. 1 (Eng)
Image

Master Stars Piece Vegeta
Image

Only other stuff that may potentially release would be an English BoG Blu-Ray and even then, I'm not too sure I'd bother picking it up unless it has a special edition that's better/rivals my Japanese one.

I don't really plan on buying ANYTHING new, I still need to get GT season 2, or the complete collection, plus the 3 DBZ movie boxsets from Funimation, and probably the rest of Kai, but a lack of funds leaves me waiting, but I'm rewatching all of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z so I don't really need anything new. And I'd like to get the rest of the kanzenban soon, I still only have the last one!

The full color release of the Saiyan arc is a definite maybe for me though, it looks really interesting and I've never read any of the series in full color.

I know I'm getting Battle of Z (PS3) since I pre-ordered it at my local GameStop, and I am planning on getting the Full Color Comics since I don't own any of the manga.
