Hilarious DragonBall animation goofs/flaws

Post by masenko » Fri Jun 16, 2006 10:53 pm

I haven't been on the forums in a while and I wanted to start a cool topic. Last night I was watching the end of the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai and I was amazed by what I saw. Well...not really amazed but it was pretty damn funny. After Goku wins, there is a shot of Krillin and Master Roshi celebrating and to my surprise Krillin's feet are naked. He jumps into the air and it is obvious. The best part? In the next scene, he is running full on to Goku, this time, with shoes and socks on! Either he's got some magic slip-ons or Toei goofed. So that's my example. Can you think of anymore times where continuation in animation is ridiculously forgotten?

One more example from the same episode:
Kami gives Goku new clothes but in the next scene, Goku waves to Yajirobe and he doesn't have any wristbands!

Two spots during the initial confrontation with Freeza. Vegeta is wearing the dark blue jumpsuit with the armor style that has no shoulderpads. Krillin and Gohan are wearing battle armor that looks similar to what Vegeta and Nappa wore on earth.

In two different shots, they mess up and Vegeta is wearing the armor he was wearing when he first arrived on Namek and Krillin is wearing his orange gi and Gohan his indigo suit that matches Piccolo's.

There are various parts where they mess up and show Jeice wearing a long neck jumpsuit and some scenes where he is wearing the v-neck one.

Beam colors are off every now and again. Goku fires a couple Golden Kamehamehas in Z, when every other time they are always blue.

If I think of anymore I'll post them.

Mistakes made in the Manga and Anime:

http://dragonballarena.gamesurf.it/english/errori.php

Anyway, I found this one myself in Movie 8: Goku has that half orange gi and half blue t-shirt on him (well, it looks half) and in one scene where Broly's blast is shooting Goku up, he's wearing his blue t-shirt, both sides are there and the orange top is not there.

Here's one from Movie 12 I found myself: In the beginning, where Goku and Paikuhan are talking to each other, Goku's blue t-shirt sleeves are coloured orange!

I don't really find these hilarious though.

Well there have been times where I've seen animation goofs that are ridiculously obvious. All Red Ribbon ones, because I haven't watched anything else. In one scene Colonel Yellow's nose was the correct charcoal black, and in the next it was the same color as his fur (Yellow was the tiger guy who was kicked out of a plane and probably impailed on a tree, for those of you who don't remember). There were also times when Colonel Silver's hair changed color - from the correct red to a dark brown - and such. I've noticed a lot more mistakes like those in the manga, though.

I mentioned this in another topic, but here's mine:

In (I'm pretty sure) DB episode 85 (Dub title: Preliminary Peril), King Chappa's nipples keep switching from black to pink! :P
Pilaf being alive in GT isn't a mistake! Even though he died (due to Majin Buu), he would've been brought back since he's not actually REALLY evil, he's just a guy who wants to take over the world (and aren't we all inside?). He's pretty much the Dragon Ball world's version of Dr. Robotnik (with Shu as Grounder and Mai as Scratch).
I also go by "veemonjosh".

I smell a conspiracy... (look in the upper left frame, at Vegeta.)

Could it be a new, hidden, Super Saiyan form of unfathomable power that only appears for a total of 4 seconds!!?

Yeah, I'd noticed that too.

Well, so much for Toriyama saving money on ink. :| :P

Was that the only reason that a Super Saiya-jin's hair is golden? :?

I'm not very sure on this one, so I'll need someone who's got the episodes to verify it. :)

During Goku's journey from Earth to Namek, we get a split second shot of Goku standing, with the camera looking at him from the side. What's wrong about that shot is the fact that Goku's chest is orange- the same colour as his "gi" (as you call it). It looks like a child drew it.

Of course, everything in my mind has faded away, and I'm not sure if I'm right. Still, I'm quite sure. :)

I have it on tape somewhere. Now, where is it...

*Looks for the tape*

Nah, I'm sure that mainly was to point out the DRAMATIC(stress that one) difference between Goku's regular and SUPER form. If he'd just draw his hair upright it might as well be mistaken for Goku powering up. (As that always seems to cause severe upward drafts)

Right, I get it now.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)

The only one I remember is in the Buu Saga, when SSJ Vegeta is fighting Gotenks and Piccolo in Buu's stomach, he's shown in normal form in one shot, and then the next shot he's back to Super Saiyajin.

Picture coming soon. (Searches for camera.)

[edit] Gah! Nevermind, I can't find my video. (And it's the only one I'm missing, too!) O_o;

How come that when Goku turns SSJ4 suddenly he's clothed? Vegeta's case is even worse, in fact when he turns SSJ4 from Ohzaru he has even the belt!"
I've solved this one! They gain magic abilities at SSj4!

Okay, I'm done.

Not really all that funny, but I've found two in the 'We Gotta Power' animation.

1: When Gohan, Trunks, and Goten are flying on Shenron, and Vegeta and Piccolo pass, Vegeta is wearing his battle armor. (This could be just because it wasn't known what outfit Vegeta was going to wear during the Buu arc, but, I figured I'd mention it.)

2: When Gohan and Goten are flying on Nimbus ( Can't seem to spell the JP name for it at the moment.), Goten pops out from behind Gohan wearing some random outfit, they fly by the car and it goes into a shot of their backs. Goten is wearing his Orange Gi.

Unfortunately many cartoons had animation goofs, especially ones pre-1990s. Anyone else remember how on the old TMNT, the masks would be mixed up and some turtles' voices would come out the wrong turtle, or how the jet Decepticons of season 1 of Transformers would be mixed up?

These arent goofs or mistakes at all. You can't ask for continuity in an opening music video sequence. That's like saying, one moment Gohan is in school clothes and the next, he's the Great Saiyaman.
